I doubt everyone has confirmed, but here's the deal with starting:

Ande is handling these orders as they come in, instead of completing them all and then shipping all at once. So we're all going to get our jeans at a different time. There will probably be a few weeks between the first person getting their pair and the last person.

We have a few options for how we start:

- firm start date, we have to wait until everyone receives their pair, and we all start on the same day. We'd have to do soak pics with a newspaper for date confirmation or something like that. we'd all finish on the same day.

- rolling start, just start when your pair arrives, and you have exactly one year (or whatever time frame we decide) from the day you start to the day your final pics are due.

- start whenever, finish on the same day. Some people might have a week or two of extra wear on the their jeans, but I'm not sure that'd make a difference in the long run

Not sure what the situation is with the list. My guess is that it's full or close to full, but not everyone has confirmed with Ande.

Anyways, I'd personally like to keep it to SuFu members only, if possible. I don't know how everyone else feels about that.

is the fabric something that ande has in limited quantity? if it isn't and ande has a great deal of them, i think it would be good for more people to join the contest regardless of post count etc since it will provide a good deal of advertising for ande and also help him get some funds in order.

if it is indeed limited fabric, i can see and understand why you're being quite stringent about people joining the contest robotbox.

From what I understand, Ande has already sold a good number of jeans using this denim before the earthquake.

He now has only enough denim left to make 18-20 pairs. The money from these pairs will be used to fund future rolls of denim.

So the denim isn't necessarily unique to the contest pairs, but there are unique details such as the hair-on-hide patch and the x-bartacked pockets that I believe are just for these 18-20 contest pairs.

TL;DR -- Yes, the numbers are limited

I REALLY don't want to seem like I'm being exclusive or snobby based on sufu reputation. We were all new posters once. Hell, by no means am I a prolific poster either. I would just prefer that since we will only have 18 or so contestants, that those contestants are willing to contribute good content. I'm not leaving anyone off the list at this point. We may not even be able to find 18, so right now everyone is welcome

whoops, forgot about the other old models. I was just thinking in terms of the contest denim samples. I had the DLX 14.5 oz and completely forgot about everything else. Yeah, you guys are probably correct

Is the Return contest using the original contest denim or the special roll denim?

Definitely not the contest roll, that was lost in the quake. I'm fairly sure this is an entirely new denim. None of the samples Ande showed us last time around were 13.5oz

Okay dudes, here's the list, and a few notes:

This is echoing what I said the first time around, but I would like to urge everyone on the list to really consider their commitment. I think we all want a good quality contest, full of people really putting forth the time to beat up their jeans and provide solid updates. If you think you will be rotating between 5 pairs of jeans and getting no fades, no one's going to want to see that. If you think you will rarely post updates, that's no fun either. Not that I have any authority here, just my two cents...

So, on to the list. I've given preference to people on the original contest list. People with an asterisk next to their names were not on the original list, and may be bumped off if more of the original participants commit. Hopefully it won't come to that, but I think its only fair to the original folks.

So do we go by the final list from the last contest? Or start a new one? With all the interest it might turn into bedlam on here. I would love to be in, but understand this needs to be somewhat democratic. Robotbox...do you want to serve as the gate keeper on this? You and the others did a bang up job on the last contest.

I'll gladly handle organizational duties if it comes to that, but for now I think we should all just chill and wait for final word from Ande. No use getting riled up and doing a lot of work unless its needed.
