  2. X-posted from the jean jacket thread. Thought there might be some interest here...

I don't know much about jean jackets or vintage denim, but I figured I'd post this up on here for y'all.

This is my dad's old Foremost JC Penney denim jacket. I'm guessing its from the 60's or 70's. If y'all have any info on it, I'd be interested to hear. It's too small for me, so I'm considering selling it.

If you are interested in any particular details, I'd gladly take more/better pictures.

  4. I happened to be near BiG yesterday, so I popped in just to take a look, and walked out with a pair of BiG660's. I wasn't really planning on buying anything, and this pair wasn't even really on my radar at all, but I'm pretty stoked on them. This is my first pair of Warehouse, so I can't wait to see how they turn out. Just gave them a soak, and I'll post some pictures soon.

  5. A year or two ago I bought a Pointer duck chore coat in sz Medium, but it's a bit too small for me. I had no idea they were somewhat sought after now. I'd be willing to sell cheap or trade for a Large.

  6. You won't have them in time for your trip unfortunately, but SENY will have your size when you return. They ship to all stores next week.

    Good to know. Thanks!

  7. Is the SL cut available anywhere in NYC at the moment, or is everyone waiting for the new pairs?

I only ask because I'm heading out of town for 2 weeks on Friday, and 1) I'd like a new pair of jeans to bring on my trip and 2) I'm worried about missing out on the new pairs since I'll be gone when they are released

  8. @jonmhenderson - you sized down 3 on each model, right?

I'm considering picking up a pair, I was hoping you could give me some insight. I'm looking for a slim, but not skinny fit. I'm thinking either sizing down the recommended one inch on the Bartons, or down two on the Willie's.

My concerns are that I don't want the top block to be tight, as I'm constantly repairing the crotch on my current jeans. I also don't want the rise to be too low, as I have an ass. Would you consider the Barton's low rise? or are they just lower than the rather high rise on the Willies?

Thoughts? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  9. I've been thinking about pulling the trigger on the original fit with dyed weft, but those back pockets are definitely something I'd have to get used to. If they were more traditional, I wouldn't even have to think about it. Being raised in NC, I really want to support them... but those pockets!

I still may do it though. It's either that or wait for new Roys or 3Sixteens, but I'm fairly impatient.

Can anyone comment on the rise of the original fit? I've seen them described as "Mid Rise" but the back rise measurements I've seen are more in line with Ande Whall Grifters, which I would definitely consider low-rise.

  10. The 3sixteen+ Game-Changers.

May 15th!!! I'm leaving town for 2 weeks on the 14th! And the 15th is my birthday...

I need these jeans in my life!

    FFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

  11. The STF denim was Cone? I thought only Levi's could get unsanforized denim from Cone, hence why they made such a big stink about the Roy contest denim, and all jeans made with Cone denim (Tellason, Raleigh, Left Field) are sanforized.

  12. I just found out that all of the denim in the new Made In The USA line from Levi's is made out of Cone denim from North Carolina.

And about the length, Levi's does 1 inseam length for special jeans all the time. Usually they always choose 34" inseams, but sometimes 32". The only way that will change is if this line takes off and their becomes a huge demand for more lengths. Until then they will play it safe until they are sure it's profitably.

I don't see STF jeans with measly 32" inseams being profitable. There's not that many dumbasses in the world. Or that many people who enjoy rocking high-waters...

The LEAST they should do it give higher waist sizes a longer inseam

  13. ... not to make light of some really serious situations ...

but what's with all the natural disasters disrupting the supply chain of our contest denim!?

I was wondering if the horrible events in Japan effected anything denim-wise. What contest was disrupted?

It's unreal the damage these earthquakes have caused. Let's pray they are over.
