  1. Found this nice quote from the Billykirk blog that might shed some light.

"...I remember when I was renovating my NYC apartment a few years ago, I was lamenting the cost of a bathroom faucet that I’d been coveting. An architect friend said to me, 'scrimp on some things, but those things you touch every day should make you happy.' I bought the expensive fixtures then, and never regretted it..."

  2. Agreed but only with reference for paying $300 for a "brand" flannel that was made in Bangladesh. I found a really nice "subtle" G-Star denim shirt the other day (looked very much like the over-dyed black denim that SE used in the latest IH collab) and they wanted $289+tax. Just for a tag really, the quality was average.

On the other hand, having been to SESF and felt the quality of all the garments in there, handing over $300 to Kiya and his associates would prove no problem to me. The quality is ridiculous plus the service is beyond helpful which makes for an easy purchase (as long as it hasn't sold out :)).

I look at it this way, if you forked out $80 for a Quiksilver flannel for example and it lasted you 2 years max and you did that over the next 10 to 15 (just using reference to dude's shirt in The Chronicle article above) years keeping in mind that they stay at $80, you'd have spent $400 / $600 respectively. With inflation and the like blah blah you'd be looking at way more including time and effort. Keep in mind I am talking of a Made in China garment. The level between this and an IH Hombre or Flathead shirt, well it doesn't even compare.

Let's face it, how many of your real world friends (not your Sufu friends) have actually heard of Flat Head (not a fish), Sugar Cane (not a toad that eats it) or Iron Heart (not Iron Man's heart)? Not many I am sure. So why pay $300 for a "no namer" brand such as these? Because with these companies, you pay for the quality. And for $300, the quailty is amazing.

PS $300 is just generalizing the price point, but I am using for arguments sake. Cool? Sweet.

    Hear hear!

  3. I went for the same size for my weird guys although the apc do stretch more it wouldn't be drastically more. Size down one on Naked and Famous and you should be good. That is generally what I do for them.

  4. http://www.barberians.com/

Best steak ever... My dad used to go to this place back in the 80s and golf with the owner back then. For my grad dinner a few years ago we went to a Morton's and ended up leaving after the initial wine because of the crass. We drove down to Barabrians after not having been there for years and they remembered us and still let my dad park in the owners spot because they used to be buddies. The staff has been there forever and probably make a fortune in tips and they have the best wine list in the country. If you are even in Toronto this is the place to go!

  5. +rep to anyone that EDCs hand lotion.

I don't EDC hand lotion because the girls at work and about always seem to have something in their purse during these long dry winters but I do edc Simply Saline... 20 years of hockey and a few broken noses this stuff on a regular basis is the only way to keep the nose clear in the winters here in Canadialand.

  6. They stretch a ton. My 31's can easily stretch out to 18" when I don't have a belt on. After a soak, they're about 16.5".

So I can expect about a 2" inch stretch before a soak? That's 2" on the actual size not the tag size I take it... thanks for the info.

  8. Why is everyone so nutso bout that sweater? Serious question, not taking a jab at it or anything....

Cuz forreal tho, everyone that posted a waywt with it has looked pretty bad, imo

I don't know... maybe because it is comfortable and a little different looking... I suppose I could get an american apparel shirt in the same colour and save 100 bucks.

  9. Got a little bonus and I usually like to treat myseld when I get money that wasn't planned for or budgeted away. I kinda think I know what everyone's reaction will be. I am toying with the idea of getting the JCrew/Timex watch instead of the Buzz Rickson Sweatshirt. Give me a reason why I shouldn't get these... I am curious.
