  1. Quick heads-up regarding the Unlucky project:

The process of material selection and belt design is in it's final phase.

The expression of interest list will be closed this Sunday.

Mike, has there been any email updates since the one on the possible materials for the belt buckle a few weeks ago? Just havnt herd anything in a while and just wanted to make sure I was still receiving the emails. Thanks.

  2. ah nothin' wrong with that...just a head start is all. I'm 24 and married with a 3 year old. never happier.

Stopped me from being a young fuck up.

    anyways. HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Weird, Im 24, getting married in 4 months and have a 3 year old. Apparently sufu is full of young dads...

  3. Well since your bringing that belt up... When I went to Terry to make me a custom belt (that will be here any day) that is one of the two of your belts I showed him that I drew inspiration from... By inspiration I mean 2 of your many belts I Lust over.

I cant describe how pissed I was to find out the 2 styles of Kens belts sold out because I absolutely love the designs of them....

  4. I use the horse oil to feed the leather and make it more supple/flexible, since the natural horsehide hasn't been heavily oiled at the tannery (it's relatively unfinished) and is pretty stiff. This also increases the longevity of the leather in the long run, and can help in accentuating the grain from the get go.

The horse oil penetrates best out of all the animal oils I've used, and darkens the leather only just slightly (unlike others which have a more dramatic effect).

The beeswax is to seal the oil in and provide some water/abrasion resistance to the leather and keep the grain healthy.

I think most leather conditioners include oils, waxes, etc in a one-step application process.

I just prefer to use the natural and simple stuff, as it allows me to control the process better, and I know exactly what I'm feeding the leather.

I somehow looked over your reply. Thanks for the input Mike.

  5. Mike, Whats up with the horse oil and the bees wax? Im pretty ignorant to leather care. I do the typical cleaning with saddle soap once a year and a good coat of mink oil and thats it.

  6. ^Wah! Good job, guys. That's quite a number of ppl!

Yeah, we have leathers in 15oz, but it is limited atm. We definitely can consider a group order in the near future when we fixed on some constant supply :)

    Lipsu,

you have to keep talk like this away from Mikecch. Im pretty sure he has a very serious problem with buying belts and I feel it is our duty to do everything we can as a community to help him. The last time I seen people act the way Mike does towards belts was last week when I was down on 51st st in Chicago and saw all the little crack heads stealing purses for dope...

  7. Got my SRs back from being taperd. Probably the best fit I can attaine. Roomy enough in the thigh and leg for my fat ass to move but tapered to give me a slimmer silohette.

Ps. No spell check on my blackberry and I'm a dumb american. I appolosie for the bad spelling...

  8. Went with fam, son, and new GF to Disneyland yesterday, wore IH-701 Green and Red IHSH-32... GF wore my black IHSH-32. Was actually a bit chilly... kept us nice n' warm. Will post a pic or two when i get them :)

I have family at Disney right now and they said they saw some people with ear muffs on!!! Damn Locals dont know what cold is!

  9. I agree Z. Tandy sucks for most things I have bought. Rivets are the only thing worth getting that I have purchased. I actually just took a page from klue's book on that though. 5lb box of copper roofing nails for 20 bucks. Then large quantities of burrs off line. I have repaired lots of work close this way and its holding up better then traditional rivets, they are thicker and literally a quarter of the price.

  10. That looks cozy warm, klue.

Speaking of fur, I just had an offer from a local free range sheep farm for all of the raw hides I could want. I think they just throw them away at this point whenever their lambs are slaughtered. I could have picked up 11 today, but I'm not quite ready! So, when it warms up, I just might be tanning hides out in my garage...

Your local Tandy leather shop. Or Ebay.

Are Tandys actually brass? I have a bunch from tandy and they dont tarnish like brass and the description on Tandy dosnt say they are brass. I just assumed they were some kind of other metal. I will check out ebay though.

BTW, these are the ones I have from tandy. http://www.tandyleatherfactory.com/search/searchresults/11310-01.aspx?feature=Product_2&kw=button+stud

    Thanks Z.

  11. Hey solix, feel free not to answer if you don't want to share this kind of info, bit could you tell is what your buddy does in those jeans? those are some brutal fucking fades and I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who's curious as to what the wearer does in them.

Im a Construction worker in Chicago and Im wearing my SR's to work for about 3 weeks now. It is my first pair of "good" jeans ive worn to work and in 3 weeks the fades I have gotten are more pronounced then the Levis XX 55 501s I wore all summer.

    Construction=Killer fades.

  12. You feel they are too baggy? All over or just from the knee down? Have they stretched? I've never worn a pair but man i could never ever taper a pair of IH.. yikes!

Nope, just from the knee down. I want to be able to stack them. This is how I gauge it. If they hit the ground in the back while stacking when your wearing a fat pair of nike SB's, there too baggy. I'm not looking to bring them in too much. Laid flat right now the opening is 10'', I'm looking for something in the 8.75 area...
