  1. damn, such a beautiful light, sucks to hear it wont work out

    good luck with that..

Defiantly is. and to be honest, if it was about 150 bucks cheaper I would keep it. But when I look at this thing for $240 and then look at my R5 quark for $60 I just cant justify it.

Not to mention Hinderer has a knife for me thats awaiting payment. Im just too damn broke to commit to it right now. Im getting married next month so my bank account is pretty beat up...

  2. So I got my new EDC light and its just not my cup of tea. For some reason all the things I bought it for just didn't do it for me once I got it. I was really stoked about the infinitely adjustable from 0-310 lumens ring on it but I dont know if Im just so ingrained with 4sevens UI but I didn't like it. Think im going to put this thing up for sale...

  3. Today I have 3 leather bracelets up for grabs. Im still trying to raise some cash for school so im in crackhead mode.

First one was made from a leather Iron Heart Rein. I bought the rein brand new From G about 5 months ago. It was my first go at a solid leather rein and after about a month of wear I decided it was not for me. It sat in my drawer ever since. I recently decided to canabalize it for its brass parts. Then I decided to make a bracelet out of the leather. It is sewn with synthetic sinew and is attached with a solid brass bow shackle. total length is 8'' but once around the wrist will fit nice on a 7-7 5/8'' wrist well. THIS CAN BE MADE SMALLER!

Looking to get 50 plus shipping.

Next up is a Flat head leather and silver double strand bracelet in tan. This one is the Large that is 16'' long, or 8'' doubled. Bought this from self edge in 2010. Worn it maybe a dozen times. Oiled it once. It has Very little wear. The silver hasnt even started to tarnish yet.

    Looking for 50 plus shipping.

Lastly I have a no name brand leather cuff. It is made from strap hide from texas. it is a solid 1/4'' thick and 8 3/4'' from snap to snap but since it is so thick the inner diameter once around your wrist is about 7 1/2''. Has a nice Indian head concho. This has a tad bit more wear then the FH.

And some more of all 3.

And a comparrison of the thicker IH next to the Thinner FH.

And for the intensives. I can do All 3 for 110 plus shipping and I will throw in a free Hill-Side selvage Hanky/pocket square that is unused.

  4. In my understanding, "cordovan" has become a colloquial name for a specific color that shell cordovan (the type of leather rayw44 described) is pretty commonly dyed. This burgundy/eggplant color, when used on shell cordovan leather, is called "number 8". So, "cordovan" as a color has become synonymous with color "number 8" from usage on shell cordovan leather. Does that make sense?

    Thanks for clarifying. Good info!

  5. Just got my EDC blade back from sharpening. I also polished the pivot on it. Got it as close to mirror as I could without having any polishing compound. Its reflecting black off my nikon so its even shinier then it looks. It opened great before, now its just butter...

  6. Well cordovan is just a color (it's basically burgundy), but shell cordovan specifically refers to a type of leather that comes from beneath the first few layers of skin on the rump of a horse. Under these layers there are two "shells" that are specially tanned and process to a high shine leather that can only be made using the shells.

And the shells themselves are actually muscle, not skin. I think that adequately explains it, but someone else may have some more technical info than I can provide.

Thanks man. See I thought Cordovan was a specific kind of leather and Shell cordovan was a specific kind. if cordovan is just a color, thats why I couldnt find any details on it...
