have you dealt with the para 1? para 2 is so much better. SO MUCH BETTER.

Never Used either the 1 or 2. Truth be told I have kind of hated spyderco up until about 6 months ago. Why? Ignorance. So now that I have seen that they are not so bad after all, Im intrigued.

On another note, My XM-18 is supposed to be here today. So like a little kid i woke up and ran to the computer to see the status on the tracking page. As of last night it arrived in a town 45 minutes from me. As of this morning I get:

TIK, Have you used a Manix2 yet? Im really curious how the Manix2 compares to the para2.

I have never owned a higher end spyderco. Just there cheap models. The 2 on my list to get were the manix and para. So far I got the Manix 2. Just curious as to how it holds up against the para2.

my hinderer 3.5 flipper that i recently got was stonewashed - both the blade and frame

i am 98% sure you can still order 1) stonewash 2) beadblast 3) sandblast

I want to start out by saying I have been using all 3 of those words to describe stonewash. Stupid on my part but I didn't want to confuse anyone.

Like a week before I ordered mine another guy asked rob if he could get polished and rob said all they can do right now is stonewash. It MAY be because of the blade show. They might be putting all there efforts in that and only have stone at the moment... Justrepeaing what rob said.

Yea I would have preferred polished but oh well. Supposedly according to hinderer geeks the blasted finish wears REALLY hard. Lots of people were posting there EDC hinderers with the blasted finish and you couldn't see a scratch on the blade so...

Like you said, Im happy with whatever.

35, you dont have a choice. Current run is CTS-XHP and all production is beadblasted.

from my recollection the ONLY time you can get polished is a custom run that are hand ground. These are the ones they sell at shows and to some dealers.

Its going to be like Christmas in March this week. Got a package from Hinderer, Spyderco, Countycomm and bestbuy (xbox) all scheduled to be here by Friday. Now if only Snody would ship my knife I would be done waiting on stuff for a while...

Last week I was in the same boat. I needed to get something for all the guys standing up in my wedding. I didnt want to get some traditional shit that no one ever uses like a flask.

All the guys in my wedding carry knives but none of them are knife nuts so they usually have shitty flea market blades. After doing some research on quality, cheap knives, the Spyderco Tenacious had amazing reviews.

I ended up coping off ebay from a knife E Shop for 35 shipped each. Even after all the great reviews for a budget knife i was still very skeptical. But when I got them, I was VERY impressed with it. Really solid lock up, Nice G10, etc.

I would definatly consider one of these if you need to go cheap. I would put this knife up against a lot of $150 knives out there.

As for lights, pic anything from 4sevens in your price range and you will be happy. end of story on that...

very cool, ive heard great things about the cts blade steel..i had the manix sprint run with the xhp and just a few swipes on the sharpmaker got it back to razor...

speaking of brass...did you see the new lanyard beads hinderer knives just released? They are pretty nifty...although i am not a big lanyard fan...the beads are just downright cool AND they come in brass, flamed ti and standard ti

dont forget to get the carbon fiber scale too!

I did see the beads and almost bought like 5. Even though they are only 10 bucks a pop I still backed off.

For some reason, CF is just not my thing. Ti yes, CF not so much...

for the cost (i believe from Rick they are around 700ish) there are MANY better knives out there for that price...

But the only way to get them from Rick is if you are military, LEO, Fire or paramedic. And if you are you get a 10% discount. So you would actually get it for 630. Still steep for it IMO.

I ended up getting the 3.5 for 350.

Im 99.9% sure the current batch is cts-hxp. Got the Orange scales on order for right now. Next week I think Im going to cop a black, trans green, OD, and pond scales. Im a sucker for anything brass or Orange so I MAY just hold off and see how having just the Orange goes...

Finally sent payment to Rick for the XM-18 3.5 flipper. after 6 years its time for a new EDC knife...

I mean, to each there own. Do whatever floats ur boat. But even if you really do love spyderco's. I would still keep the work horse and save ur pennies for the spyderco's. I wouldn't trade one for the other.

Im a little more drawn to the heavy dutyness of the striders, Hinderers, etc. I guess thats why I dont get the CR stuff. Nice knifes but would I spend 400plus on one? Hell no. If your collecting, maybe but as you user, no...
