  1. What's considered normal for a quality resole?  If it's 350, the idea of getting nice boots as something cost-effective is even more of a joke (but hopefullly everyone here just buys the stuff because they like it).  I feel like 150 would be reasonable...

I'm pretty sure I paid Baker ~$150 for a full rebuild of my White's SD--a pair I've been wearing nearly every day for over five years.

Similarly, I'd get new soles from Eddie's in Sherman Oaks (including the cost of the sole itself) for just under a hundred. You *really* don't have to spend $350.

  2. Does anyone have experience with the RMC A2? There's a strong possibility I'll be buying a (very lightly) used one off a friend for a very cheap price. I mean, I know it's good--I've tried the thing on--but I'm still curious to here from those who have worn one long term.

And if anyone wants that new SE-exclusive Buzz Rickson A2, let me know. Mistakes were made in regard to sizing! I'll let it go for very little.

  3. As someone who has never owned a new leather jacket, I could use some advice. I'm trying to decide between a 38 and a 40 in the William Gibson x Buzz Rickson A2 (it's gorgeous, and coming to a Self Edge near you!), but neither is jumping out at me as the "right" size. Should I expect some give/stretch with HH?

  4. ^ I don't want to be nit picky but I'm going to be, sorry. That's not a G-1, it's a civilian copy that is loosely inspired by the USN issue flight jacket. A nice jacket probably but no G-1.

I'm not trying to pass it off as something it isn't; I've always just referred to flight jackets with fur collars as a "G1s" due to the styling. I mean, it's pretty obvious looking at my pictures that the details don't resemble anything that the military actually put out (I'm referring to the buttons, but the price should also make that obvious). I'll edit my post for the sake of transparency, but I highly doubt my original description was hoodwinking anyone.

  5. Great pickup, aho!

I put this pair of 1950s Buzz Rickson jeans on the supermarket yesterday. They're brand-new and raw, which is extremely rare for this jean. They're a size too big for me, unfortunately. Link in the signature!

(and check out my Buzz Rickson Original Spec chinos!)

  6. Measurements are taken SELF EDGE-STYLE so refer to that section on the website for clarification. Let me know if you have any questions/requests!

And I apologize for the poor quality of my photos, but a camera phone and a poorly lit apartment are all I have to work with right now. Here we go...

Below is a Buzz Rickson A2 Flight Jacket in Black Horsehide (size 40, SE-exclusive "Black Woods" edition). I bought this as my last employee purchase, but I didn't quite size it correctly. The 38 was a bit too tight and the 40 is, after a great deal of consideration, a bigger than I'd like. I wore the jacket *maybe* 3 or 4 times out of the house, so there's no visible wear to speak of. It might as well be brand new (all tags are included).

Price: $995 shipped, CONUS*. This is a pretty insane deal considering it retails for $1875. I should also add that this size is sold out on the Self Edge website (refer to its listing there for accurate measurements and *much* better photos).

*International buyers: PM me and we'll work something out.

  7. Thanks guys. I'm glad I was stopped. After a lot of digging through fit pics, I came across sized down hawaiis and 47s, and there's a LOT of buttsuck/crotchcrushing like Erase must've been describing. I'm leaning towards the 2009 now since their measurements meet up almost identically with my jeans now, but I might just make a trip out to SE to see if they have one in my size to try on before I buy.

Thanks again guys for looking out for me lol

For the sake of politeness, you probably shouldn't use Self Edge as your changing room if you're buying from Rakuten. The guys at the LA shop aren't there to help you make purchases from other stores.
