Those look fantastic! I'd kill to have that fabric on the 47 cut.
edit: During my time working at Self Edge, that SC 12 oz denim was always the most impressive fabric to see come in for repairs. That shit is gorgeous.

i don't really know what the appeal of visiting osaka is.
granted i've only been there for a brief period of time, it's a shitty place for sightseeing
1) I don't really know of any stores that are better than their counterparts in Tokyo. Sure, there are some stores that do stand out like Silver+Gold, and Loftman
2) Extreme shortage of hotels. There are very few convenient accomodations central to where you want to hang out.
3) clubs and bars close early
4) food and drinks in general are less expensive out there. also, there are some exotic "konamono" (it's an umbrella term for anything made with flour e.g. okonomiyaki) that are otherwise hard to find outside of osaka. other than that, there's not much else.
idk, there's something neat/weird about osaka. it's hard to recommend if you're in Japan for a short trip, but my girlfriend and i really enjoyed the city as a detour on a longer stay in tokyo. shinsekai is cool.
edit: we're heading back to tokyo for two weeks in november, and i'm looking for stuff to see/do that we wouldn't have already thought of. We had three months to explore last time, but I'm sure there are still some worthwhile neighborhoods we haven't seen yet.

I'm going to Stockholm for a week in September, but I will likely be working for most of each day (unfortunately!). Where should I be spending my evenings? Not looking for clubs, but bars, cafes, etc.--anything open after 5. I want to see as much of the city as possible while I'm there under these somewhat limited circumstances.

Thankfully, there are just too many good jeans out now. What makes tanuki special, at all? Nothing, which is why they feel the need to come up with this bullshit gimmick to create a stir.
I will give them that I love how thin the chainstitch hem is, but it would've been better if they started the stitching where the selvedge is rather than on the inside.
This is so true. I don't know what else people could possibly be looking for at this point. There's an incredibly wide spectrum of interesting fabrics and cuts available as it is.

Who else is following the hype-press behind Tanuki?
I don't like it. I want transparency behind the things i spend my money on, primarily food and clothing. As both a consumer and the owner of a retail store i want to know where my money is going and that the product is in fact what they say it is.
In this case how could i go spend thousands of dollars on a brand for my stores if i don't know where anything is coming from or who is profiting from the brand?
rolling my eyes so hard it hurts

If you put them in the machine right-side out, you're exposing the outside of the jeans to abrasion which will result in indigo loss, which will happen regardless, but becomes problematic in a machine where such abrasion can result in unwanted and unnatural fades. Turning them inside out prevents this. I machine wash and dry my denim with no harmful effects, just some creasing which eventually come out as I wear them.
This is probably true in theory, but I have to imagine the difference is negligible. I've accidentally done this countless times without affecting my jeans at all.

I just started reading the Berserk manga, and that shit is incredible.

Fitpic pls on rhose br jawnz
I wanna see some evo pics!
My 3005 are probably pretty perfect as far as regular jeans though.
But there's always room for a couple more pairs of perfection, specifically hank-dyed or persimmon.
Pics are coming, I promise! The fading isn't really pronounced yet.
I'll put up some pictures of my 47s, too, as they're looking fantastic now.

Stain update: curry is still mildly visible even after a spray and wash/toothbrush treatment + machine wash. But it's faint enough that it hardly shows, and I think it'll be mostly gone once the jeans are faded enough. I'm not worried.
Be careful eating curry, everyone!

So here's a question for people. Have any of you found your absolute perfect Jean ? So spot on you could never buy another pair.
I feel that I am constantly searching for that perfect jean. I have pairs which I love but there is always one detail or part of the cut which isn't quite how I like it.
I think a lot had to do with having big quads and liking a smallish hem. I have downsized my quads these days and I am hoping this leads me to finding that perfect jean.
I don't think I've ever liked a pair more than the Buzz Rickson 1950s jeans I'm currently wearing. I'd be pretty surprised if I didn't end up buying another pair once these are more heavily worn.

The sooner they're washed the better, and probably going to need to pre-treat the spot. I little water, detergent, and scrubbing with a soft bristled tooth brush on the spot prior to washing should probably get the worst of it out. No way around it though, you're going to lose some indigo where ever you scrub.
Good Housekeeping's recommendations for curry stains are a little harsher than most of us would prefer!

Thanks! I'll give the toothbrush method a shot before I throw them in the wash, which will hopefully be soon. I don't mind losing a little indigo, as it'll even out eventually.

I stained a good 3 inches of the thigh of one of my pairs with wet coffee grounds. At first, I was sure it'd come out in the wash, but waited about a month before doing so. That was close to six months (and ~10 washes) ago, and the coffee's still there!
All said, once your jeans start to tear I feel it's sort of open season for paint/food stains and the like.
Hopefully I can avoid that problem by washing them soon (and in a machine).
And yeah, it's pretty annoying to stain up jeans that are still quite dark and new looking. Otherwise I wouldn't really care.

Has anyone ever permanently stained their jeans? I kind of can't believe I've never run into this directly after wearing this stuff for almost 8 years now, but I recently spilled some food on myself that has me a little nervous. I am of course going to throw them in the wash tonight, but I have doubts about the stain (curry!) coming out.

It's looking like my Alden shoes need a resole (new heels+leather). I'd like them back reasonably soon, and I'm in the Bay Area. Who do y'all recommend?

Curious, is there any example of 47's which have been washed frequently (weekly +) and worn for a year or two that anyone can think of?
I'm fairly certain tmadd had a pair washed/worn this way back when he and I lived together (like 6 years ago...time flies!). I'll see if photos still exist.

I wanna see an update on jstavrin's 50's pair. Not enough pics of Buzz jeans floating around.
Hey! They're due for a wash this weekend, so I'll try to remember to take some shots when they're dry. They're fading about as slowly as expected, and I absolutely love them.

And another!

Price drop! Someone take this off my hands.

I just added a Buzz sweatshirt to the sale, too! Mention you saw my post here and I'll give a slight discount (same goes for the A2 and anything else listed).

I have too many sweatshirts!
(I've also listed a Flat Head shirt, so check that too!)

Other than the red one that I have, I think that's probably the only other color native check I'll buy if they make it again. Shame I'm opposed to buying anything used...
Is it a size 40 or 42? Might be relevant to put in the listing.
Thanks, Ben! I missed that, somehow.

I've got the best (in my opinion) Flat Head Native Check shirt up for sale. If you send me an offer, say you're from superfuture!
