  1. Ed, how many times do you have to get verbally slapped in the face before you realize you're just a joke in this thread? Nobody here considers you a motorcyclist.

You're exactly like that guy who tells everybody he has a classic Ducati 750SS and has all the matching Ducati helmets and jackets. Then you go to his house and see the Ducati in his living room, covered in dust, chicken scraps 2 inches wide, and in desperate need of maintenance.

  2. my roommates are a fucking joke. they're complaining about how san francisco has been so stressful in their lives yet every single night, they just sit in front of the TV watching Jersey Shore and The Real World.

one, who i had the most respect for is complaining how he can't graduate because he can't enroll in a certain class he needs. he's been bitching about the school, the dean, the local cc, etc. when i asked him why, he said it was because he's already failed the class 3 times.

what the shit, how can you blame anybody else but yourself? where is this stress coming from? you constantly go to class drunk or high. you can't even bring yourself to walk anywhere anymore so you DRIVE now. and so our lease is almost up and he's trying to find his own place because he's sick of cleaning up anybody else's mess when he leaves empty gatorade bottles, empty weed jars, and beer bottles everywhere. i'm also 100% sure he's never cleaned up anybody else's mess because i am the only one in the house who cleans regularly, meaning vacuuming, mopping, cleaning the stoves and counter...

and the one roommate who i hate the most is possibly the most dysfunctional person alive. he is an international relations major so he considers himself very worldly and acculturated. the sad part is... he was crying to his mom when he first moved up here because he was so scared. and now he considers himself a REAL MAN and so he's gotten back with his "true first love" who cheated on him multiple times and works as a stripper. i guess the upside is that he now drives home every weekend(according to him, only a real man can drive from SF to LA 6 weekends in a row).

i'm so glad to be out of this goddamn mess next month. they are all a good 2 to 4 years older than me so they all think i am incapable or my opinions aren't worth shit. this has always surprised me as when we were looking at places to live, i was the only one who was actively looking at houses, making phonecalls to landlords, and generally making us look like the best tenants(i can get credit reports by myself and speak fluent cantonese).

    tl;dr i'm a fucking awesome roommate.

  3. Man, I really hate when people just over torque bolts. I was doing a valve adjustment today and I have absolutely no idea how the previous owner got these valve caps so ungodly tight.

These 3 were the worst of them. I tried an impact driver, hammer, blowtorch, PB blaster, vicegrips, etc. I finally took off so much material on the right valve cap that I hammered on a 16mm socket and used a breaker bar to get it off.

Surprisingly, none of the threads look even closed to strip. The rest of the valve adjustment was pretty smooth until I was trying to make sure that cylinder #1 was at TDC. I was using a plastic rod to touch the top of the piston through the sparkplug hole when part of the rod snapped off inside. There's almost no way to get it out using any sort of tweezer or extended claw.

So I'm just hoping it vaporizes or shoots out the exhaust...

I'm really looking forward to moving to a 2 car garage next year..

  4. ^Motion Pro.

Man I just picked her up and she's going to need some work... She runs great, needs a valve adjustment and definitely new cables. The current ones are solid and some of it frayed after some action in the twisties.

Plus side, it's amazing to ride and the suspension is really stable on the freeway.

  5. New tires, new grips. maybe clubman bars if I get bored of the normal bars. I'm going to try and just clean up the engine as much as I can. Other than that, just the normal stuff like new cables and bleeding the brake. I may try to find another exhaust.

Before I sold this bike to the person selling it back to me, I had installed an electronic ignition and sparkplugs. She didn't ride it very much and kept it in an enclosed garage. I miss that corbin seat though.

  6. I just picked up a TW200 and its great for around town stuff, not sure if I'd like it for long highway jaunts though mines a bit out of tune and there might be some more mph/mpg in it. Street tires make it entirely tolerable to ride at 65mph.

Are you on Something Awful? You goon you.

How do you like the seat? I'm thinking about reshaping my XL350's seat and getting her reupholstered into something like that.

  7. Ha, new tires every day? You the Jay-Z of the moto world? Fancy fancy man.

Look into a GS750 or maybe an 86-87 VFR instead of a CB. Heard great things about both. Also, nice damn brake line man.

TriMan, love it, what's that like a 68? Also, that a GB500? I know two girls in brooklyn with those and I fucking love em.

The CB750F is one of those dream bikes I had as a kid and eventually, I want to take it cross country.

If I had more experience working on a V4 engine, I would get a VFR800 in a heartbeat but until then, I only 100% trust myself to be able to fix a inline-4 when the shit hits the fan. pacific coast highway concept -___-

Props on electrical work though. I've electrocuted myself one too many times and now I'm just afraid...

ever see a bike catch fire as soon as you start it up? :(

  8. Sounds like the stickier tires would be more up your alley. How many sets of shoes do you go through a year. If it's already multiple, then maybe the tougher numbers are a better choice. Where you riding?

Well I change shoes every day... and I DO have multiple bikes as well but this bike will probably be used for commuting around the bay area. After careful consideration, I've decided my CB750F isn't quite reliable enough to track. I feel like I'd "accidentally" over rev and the 750 conrods just aren't up to snuff. Also, I'm seriously considering doing some roadtrips on the 750.

    I'll probably get Spitfire 11s...

    also, new brake lines!
