  1. finally found a pair of old stock british made dr. martens that come with imo much better and longer lasting commando sole in size 9.5

somehow it seems to be a rare size since most of the time you got either 9 or 10, i was suffering from to big size 10 martens back in 90s ;)

  2. thank you :)

@flash, believe me, this is not much luck but constant daily seeking denim on ebay for many years now.

    pics will follow

  3. denimbro crosspost:

got these from ebay, sometimes people don´t know what treasure they possess ;)
what i learned is that the waist button back doesn´t have to show off a number, and not
all 501s from 73-78 came with the tear of tag
(the 1st 2 photos show colour best):

  4. 50 years from now, people like us are having fun dating vintage levi´s: lvc repros of `93 with leather patches and black bar tags, standard levi´s with a big e tab that where made in the 2020s...

  5. actually a big e red tab version only was offered raw during the valencia street era. an big e orange tab version was offered in the late 00s, which weren´t  a propper reproduction for at around ´71 there had been only red tab 517s on the market. it could have been that levi´s wanted to appeal the working ranch people rather the fashionable hipsters who wore orange tab 646s 606s etc. hence the red tab was more to connected to the tradition of the 501... but this is just my guessing

this new pair here features all the same details of the very 1st bootjeans, expect the big e tab.

let´s hope these won´t be japan exclusives...

  6. i recently grabbed a pair of 2001ish valencia street predistressed 1937s that must have been called "banned and confiscated" back then.

the denim weft has a brownish tint and it feels like they had used somekind of resin...  fit and details are the same we find with current 1937s

    and different to the 201xx.

i just wonder who supplied levi´s with denim during the valencia era? cone or a japenese mill?

  7. since i am a a big fan of the ´76 and the price came up reasonble i had to get another pair.

cone denim to the left, japanese to the right. i like both denim so far

  8. @marble madness

i would like to achieve somewhat a double pattern, high contrast fades along with deep combs combined with that marble effect and train tracks.

actually i thinks it´s nice to see, that the stereotype of rigid or at least dark denim worn with cuffs in that era, is somewhat questioned here.

anyway thank you for your advices!

  9. just have seen this section of rebel without a cause from 1955 and fell in love that beautiful marble denim of james deans openent corey allen, which look almost likea moon wash pair of the 80s.

I wonder if there is a bullet proof method to achieve this effect? probellerbeanies recent shots of his 501s show that just washing doesn´t cause it.

on from minute 1 you have a close up of the pair:

  10. since autum is around and the thread is asleep:

young paul weller shows my favorite style for the colder days, a combination of a nice british tailored herringbone overcoat, probably made by aquascutum or burrberry

    along with some dark denim.

  11. hi there,

i am pretty sure  that the exaggeration of the repro arcuates comes from the photo itself, for the jeans is not shot plain but slighly bulked up which causes that effect by an perspective view.

i just wonder why we discuss the authenticity of lvc on such thing such as arcuates, while they even can´t manage to do the right fit / patterns.

thinking of '66 and '37 to me the bigger bummer is the extreme short button fly, which never haven been that short expect for sizes smaller than w30.

both to me look more like early ugly 00s hip fitting jeans, which is a shame since they could be so nice with a higher front rise / button fly.

  12. thank you, i am overall happy with em and bought occasionally two extra pairs when they had been on sale.

now i am curious about the new denim being used for the 76s.

looking forward to see your results bartlebyyphonics!
