  1. Spirit airlines making you sign up for a stupid account just to check-in to your damn flight

That's what I get for taking such a rag tag fly by night airline I guess. Can't wait for the junk mail, assholes

  2. So I guess my 1st gen Moto X is basically never gonna get Lollipop because of the crappy X8 cpu architecture... been taking forever at least. Oh well, no biggie I guess. have Lollipop on my N7 and it's not game changing or anything

Oddly enough I've been looking at some Windows Phone entries lately... Mostly the Lumia 635 because it's so damn cheap, and its eventual successor the 640 which is supposed to release this spring. The 635 is pretty bare-bones entry level status, but for $50 unlocked through Amazon that's to be expected. The 640 bumps up the specs to a little more respectable level with 1gb RAM and the 720p 5" screen, but will likely cost close to $200 for an LTE variation.

Am still satisfied with Android and my Moto X, and given I'm so embedded in Google's ecosystem I probably won't completely switch from Android, but the latest Lumia phones have caught my eye and the WP space will be interesting to watch leading up to the Windows 10 release later this year

  3. 15 seasons... that's a commitment

have been ripping through bob's burgers on netflix and it's pretty funny, quality voice talent... dunno why i never watched it before.

the last man on earth (fox) had its moments, will watch a bit more

hopefully the americans doesn't get canned for low ratings... it's def one of the best on right now

  4. the best laptop is one that lets you remote into your real computer (a desktop) and basically acts as a dumb terminal.

picked up a chromebook earlier this week, really liking it so far. for the price it's pretty damn amazing to be honest... $159 for 2gb ram and 16gb ssd

stock it's a perfectly functional machine running solely on ChromeOS, you can remote into your desktop via chrome remote desktop no problem. but i basically picked it up to tinker with and have been bouncing between linux desktop environments via crouton in the last 24 hours trying to figure out what i like best. unity doesn't seem as snappy as xfce, but xfce kinda sucks anyway (previously used cinnamon a lot c/o linux mint, but there is no cinnamon/mint crouton option currently) also been having some struggles getting my VPN to work, but i'll figure that out eventually [hopefully]

currently running this script to hopefully get a good elementary os install (awesome, just finished looks good so far) -- https://github.com/AldousP/MyDearWatson

anyway though, back to your original point -- if you have a decent desktop you use for all the heavy lifting, it seems like chromebooks are an awesome additional device to pick up. less than $200 for pretty good performance and insane battery life, a pretty sweet deal. you can get a fully functional os on there with very little effort

edit: here's a good crouton walkthrough fwiw https://docs.google.com/document/d/1JWLvbn4cy-LmQ-K3JeWMD-2yvT08V3lyMhrFilMClP8/pub

  5. The Frontline episodes are well worth watching.

Watched both of these last night - s32e09 and s32e10

Very well done and is at least somewhat reassuring that some folks who slowly became aware of this were just as outraged as the citizenry. Solid journalism all around

  6. watched the first two episodes of Black Mirror... kinda fucked, but interesting concepts

Also may be unpopular but I think Banshee is kinda going off the rails a bit. Could be the last season and I'd prob be okay with that. Still raw as hell and fairly entertaining tho, I'll give it that
