  1. ok, ok it's nice being the talk of the town and all that jazz, but here's the story:

my regular dead-end job is @ a tobacco warehouse. we process phillip morris cigs(don't smoke the marlboro special blend, just trust me). that's where from time to time we have to palletize cases of smokes, and drag heavy-ass pallets around all day. hence i get a lot of quick lap/thigh fades, but not defined whiskers. the pallets are wide, so they give even wear. i work on the side as a contractor from time to time since i need the $$$, plus my mother and her husband are both class A contractors. so i always get the dirty work. this means fast fading, since i always try to wear artisanal repros like they are 30 buck walmart jeans. i'm trying to master the ''i don't give a shit'' fade...how hard you wear the jeans is much more important than how often you wash. jeans fade due to wear and abuse, not water! as for how the japanese wash, i follow the miki-san(mr. fullcount) steez, which is once every week. sounds extreme for a sufu head, but it hasn't done me wrong yet. so by the end of this contest i should hit near 100 washes. i use lye soap, or bronners, old school soap for old school jeans;). to be honest i should've sized up one on the 1108s, but i learned my lesson, and i got a w30 in the denime which is basically a w29 in the 1108. just one size up can make the difference.

thanks for all the rep and pub lately, i love you fuckers:o cheep and beatle are the reason i bought my first pair of MiJ jeans.

va ain't got many denim-geeks, but we got gordon, lendo, TV shooter, and me(the token black guy;) so we ain't doin too bad! poopslush, where are you?

  2. something tells me we might be the only 2 dudes in VA rocking denime, but i know there has to be some lurker out there who knows nothing about sufu but loves killer japanese denim.

it seems that your pair will be the 'VA contrast pair', and mine will be the 'VA vintage-fade pair'...so we're hitting them from both angles! very strategic work mr. shooter

meader gives his blessing to this contest. we are now official. bless sweden!

  3. i got some big-rig axle grease on the ole' denime from working the dock, i gotta unchock the trucks and move the jackstands and one of them swiped my leg. so i rubbed in some kirks castille, and soaked them in the bucket full of soapy water for a day and a half, then washed as usual. all the black grease came out, and now my before shiny denime buttons have a white, oxidized patina to them( like warehouse buttons for all who own a pair). i love it. now i will always presoak and see what happens...

  4. shit, repair em' with whatever you want. i use cotton thread for repairs since i have to handstitch everything, which means the thread is doubled over on all the stitches. im a big fan of making the repair stronger than original, cause you know that specific area gets more abuse than others...

  5. i called dude at american mystique, and he said that no one 30 years ago made a-2 jackets for women. the sizing might a korean thing. i'm 5 foot 7'', and i only weigh 135 lbs. with clothes & sneakers on. fits like a glove.

it aint a buzz or expensive jap repro joint, but i love it still.

  6. i appreciate your participation!

well, officially i'm not even participating, i've sent t5 several e-mails trying to see if my registration was accepted, or whatever. here's the latest one, sent

2 weeks ago( april 15): quoted from self

'' hey guys this is salaam from the US. i've been having trouble registering on the t5 site, so that i can post updates on my 66xx types. i've worn them everyday since i've had them, and they are coming along quite well. i've posted pics this week on superfuture in the contest thread so all you dudes can check them out...i'm now at 6 months, 20+ washes with lye soap. can you help me register so i can qualify for the final judging? thanks, peace.''

as usual, no reply. but when i e-mailed about sending $300 for the jeans i always got an almost immediate response. i'm not mad, since there's more than a year to go, but i'd hate to get to the 2 year mark and not even be fucking eligible for judging.

for all of those who have registered (officially) can i send one of you the IMG codes for my pics, and you post them on the t5 website?

  7. very nice eddie. now, does anyone have info on old PACK-IN A2 jackets? c'mon this is sufu! anyways, enough of my blithering and blathering, i found a site that has my EXACT jacket, in the same condition. the only difference is that my size tag says '10' instead of '46'. dude here is selling em' for 150 bucks. i got mine for $20, here's some pics:

here's all the info they provided: quote from seller

Vintage PACK-IN Style #674SM Sherpa Lined, Cowhide Leather A-2 Flight Jacket.

In AMAZING Vintage Condition.. You will be proud to own it! Manufactured from 100% Genuine Cowhide Leather that is sturdy, stylish & comfortable. A FANTASTIC look, and a popular vintage style. Honestly, this one is WAY COOLER than our photos!

Additional Details.. SELDOM WORN and it shows! One piece back. Heavy duty brass zipper. Exterior has rich dark brown coloring and a cool surface grain with superficial distressing that really adds to the look. Worsted wool cuffs and waistband in great condition. Soft and warm sherpa lining in fantastic shape. Shoulder epaulets. Tool pocket on left arm.

the 'superficial distressing' is from natural wear, no treatments funny stuff was done to the leather. i wore it as much as i could last week while it was still cool at nights, and i hated to take it off. i got a new compliment every day, and the funny''what u know about that?'' looks i got from the older white men in town let me know i was really onto something;)

  8. more pics for my sponsors: thanks for the support. i appreciate your appreciation...what up sweden!

this is a pic of the jeans hanging on an old plow deep in my neighbor's back yard. the neighbor is are wifey's aunt, so she didn't mind. i'm from the hood, but now i live in the next adjacent county (chesterfield), so suddenly i live 2 doors down from a horse farm. i love horses...i gotta go over there and get some shots.

tracks in very dim natural light, note the side of calf fades. there's a nice sized hole there, but its no vis from this angle

this pic is about a month before the coinpocket repair, lets say 5 months in. right side, you can see how there is a fade line starting from the side of the thigh going up the back of the thigh. belt is starting to brown up nicely after about 2 months. i'm too black to get a tan anywhere else! oh yeah, theres traintracks/hip fade. coming in ok too...

love cotton thread or hate it, it seems from all the grail pics meader posted in the denime thread lately that the crotches/thread quality of those long-worn jeans still looked good despite the long, hard wear. some needed extensive repair, some not so much. i'm back on my ''buy em loose, or repair often'' band wagon. repairs are cheap , or even free if you DIY. i remember these same complaints at the beginning of the WH 660 contest, and gordon said that for these type of jeans(all cotton repros) 3 or more crotch repairs are to be expected if you really decide to rock em' for the long haul.

  9. authenticity always has a price. but fake sucks, unless it's thai 501s;).

i've asked several of our celebrated sufu think-tank cats, and none of them can really even begin to say how long a pair of levis, boss-of-the-roads, strongholds, lees, etc. were to last a regular hard-working man back in the 'good ole days'. one key factor was that people were much more likely to mend a garment and keep it going until absolute death, especially work pants. no work, no eat, so the jeans have to stay at least functional for labor. people washed without regard to fading, so they had to have washed the jeans with the regular wash as usual. my mother still washes my stepfather's cheep Riders work jeans every week(like mother, like son:D), and it's fucking 2010!

please don't think that if you put two horses on either side of a pair of deadstock vintagelevis they aren't going to rip...

  10. nope, not yet, the last pics i took were the ones in the park a while back. i have them on right now, cause i gotta go do a grout-removal job today before the regular 8 hr. gig...i've done quite a bit of ceramic tile related jobs in them, but i havent washed them in a while since i only wear them for 3-4 hrs a day as compared to 16 hrs/day wear for the contest denimes, so i'll give em a wash this weekend, and snap some pics 4 ya.

  11. i'm willing to be circumsized a second time by a nazi doctor for jstarvins jacket.

the pics meader is posting are beyond description. mad inspiring to wear jeans longer and longer. they make my jeans look like baby food. there's no wonder now why the contest is two years. sadly, i don't have enough time today to sit back and really analyze each pair fully. this will keep me fed for quite a while. each pair is a masterpiece. hit gordon up now before he runs out of crack

  12. bumpity bump...took some pics yesterday, cause i was bored. enjoy...

it's much worse now, so i did this:

    11855619.jpg

i used vintage evis denim(redline) from our boy Flash( go ireland!) i skewed the denim so that the denime rivet still shows. ..

front, this is as good as it gets, this is truly what the jeans look like in this one, and the one above. natural light, just not shining on the jeans
