  1. i should've said ''respectfully disagree''. to each his own. one of the heads of one of our favorite brands said he uses cotton thread so that the customer can develop a relationship with his neighborhood tailor. interesting. but thinking about it, what pants wont start to fall apart after a solid year of wear? that's over 300 consecutive wears. its a wonder they last this long all things considered...your life sounds fascinating

  2. denime's don't really fade that fast. mine are just abused...

i have to say that those lord of destuction denims meader posted are faded from real wear. the patch won't really shrink that much if you don't hot wash. i think they look how they do from work-related wear, and cold washing

  3. with all due respect( jeans look dope btw) i can't disagree more about the cotton thread. first, your jeans look like they've had quite a beating over the last year in very humid south-asian climates, and the jeans are still in one peice. all i see is some front-pocket damage, and as long as the crotch isn't blown out theres nothing i can see that a little time with a needle and thread won't fix. the thread is all-cotton so that it will PURPOSEFULLY wear-out over time, it wears away with the denim threads, and even changes color with time. if you bought a pair of deadstock pair of levis the thread probably wouldn't have lasted any longer with equal wear. in japan the wearing thin of the thead is a badge of honor. samurai offers real heavyweight denim, and all cotton thread. ..

  4. setterman, first things first...those contest joints are killing it with the vintage fading. secondly, if you got the same waist size in the 1108 as you did with the 0105c you should get just what you wanted. i'm actually thinking about doing the opposite and getting the 0105 in either the contest version, or the natural indigo. i'm leaning towards the nat. indigo. i was thinking about the eternal contest, but i really want to take these denime to a full, uninterrrupted 2 yrs. i'm going to BiG soon, so i gotta grab a pair of something when i'm there. ..

  5. i think that's what mine will look like in time. maybe not as nice, but i mean the whole no whiskers/low contrast thing. meader, all of the denimes you posted lately are graily as fuck. when all of the original quality joints are gone, somebody's gonna be mad as shit...get em now boys!

  6. , but it's tough to beat FC's denim.

a wise man has spoken. what up TV! now get your ass in those 66xx:D. not many of us have the ability to wear a collector's item as it becomes such. belt is on the way as soon as i get some $$$...

  7. i just got a Korean-made Pack-In leather A-2 jacket, excellent condition. fake sherpa lining. the style is 674SL. this thing just reeks of quality , and the YKK zipper is fine. it almost seems unworn, all of the snaps still have the paint unscratched, and the leather is not cracked, or fucked up in any way. lining and cuffs are like new... fits like a dream, all for $20...does anyone know anything about this jacket, and how rare these might be? i love this damn thing.

  8. i love the way meader phrases things, it's almost as if the way of speech matches the avatar. gotta +rep for those pics, those are beyond. the pics on the BiG site are nice, but ain't shit compared to these. WH kills it every time without fail. they put so much into the denim itself it's ridiculous. those probably belong in the 2 year and evo threads. for some reason i haven't seen a japanese selvage denim fades as 'veiny' as the WH denim. those 1001 xx are worth every fucking penny. the stitching is very similar(the same) as the style used in the 700s.

docblue's fit as as good as it gets...

  9. that japanese site is full of grailiness!

here's my contribution to this thread, miki san's 5 year worn FC. gordon confirmed that miki wore them for at least 5 years. respect the architect bitches!

this thread kicks arse. i meant to rotate sam pics, but oh well.

  10. why not hot dry? there's never been anything really fucked-up about a good hot dry, just turn them inside out. if there's creases, iron them out. i've machine washed them initially, and i must admit the spin cycle must be avoided, as the dye will make the weft noticably bluer at least for the next few washes. tsunamiboy, let's see that evo

  11. i'm thinking about replacing the coin pocket on mine since it won't last much longer anyway. i'm thinking of just putting an extra layer of denim over the existing pocket like i did wit my FC. i have some time this weekend, so we'll see what happens...1000xx, or vintage evis denim?

  12. i want that bandana. ''agricultural liming materials''? i love it. makes the physical work i do in these even more appropriate. i don't fuck with the machine wash cause i like controlling the variables. i lie, i machine washed one time when i first got them raw before i wore them. if i hot dry and they are creased i just iron out the creases.

  13. yeah, some of us may have lost some of our enthusiasm for raw denim, but the grail and 2 year threads are condensed versions, like the best of the best. so i guess a 2 year grail pair can go into both threads i guess...

hopefully these two new threads will encourage more of us to wear our jeans longer. send that blown out pair to SE or BiG, get em' fixed and keep em' going.
