  1. I normally size down on regular/relaxed thigh jeans. The size of my legs fills them out pretty well (unlike slim jeans which feel like they're going to bust out if I squat - but they look good so...;) ). Still tossing up between the 21oz or the AI-N. If the 21oz is looking like it's coming out earlier I might jump on that. As for the AI-N, excited as I am, I'd really like to see some normal photos of it. Samurai's studio photos can be deceiving (like the S5000CX). If they don't look like what I think they look like, I may pass.

  2. Damn $135 shipped!!! such a good deal.

You're telling me. I already had a pair of Imperial Dukes. If they had a pair of blacks in my size I would have jumped on that also. Got a confirmation email from context about my KMWs. Now I just have to wait until they send me one with a tracking number.

  3. thats cool can you post pictures when they arrive? thanks man!

Didn't you order these as well, Edmond? Did you get an email as well? Damn, I just bought a pair of PBJ-007 2 weeks ago and a pair of KMW 1980 off the context sale just yesterday. These 510s were not supposed to come out until August. 2nd hasn't mentioned anything on their site about these jeans being in. Man... what to do... if it's available in store, they'll be all gone in a few weeks. I just KNOW there are procrastinators out there like me who will only pull the trigger on a pair of jeans they see others wearing it (and never do pre-purchase). As soon as people start getting theirs, there's going to be a bull rush for whatever's remaining. And there's that natural indigo version as well... What a dilehmma! My credit card is cowering in my wallet as we speak. :(

  4. I´ve always got the problem with my waist, if the jeans fit perfect at the waist, its too loose on ass and legs, but then I found this clamp here, you can easily stretch to the max, just make the denim wet and then stretch and stretch, but beware, don´t get over the top, otherwise you´ll lose the top (button) ;) btw: I´m not from the horrorable commercial "Amazing Discoverys" hehe!

We got that type of clamp in Australia. Could you post pics on how you use it to stretch jeans?

  5. Because some of us think a green tab would be cool.

I'm all for a green tab, fuck having anything written on it though.

I cared more about the tab than whatever's written on the tab. Adsurgo can put his own name, or LeVIS for all I care. I thought the trouble would be more with it actually having a tab rather than using the SuFu name. No tab of any kind on any side of any pocket? Levis can go f**k themselves.

  6. 1) PBJ XX-007 - Got them today. Rough and slubby, but weird because you can't see the slubbiness very well because of the dyed warp/weft. Not liking the lower rise that much, but everyone who's seen me in them say they look/fit good.

    2) Samurai S710XX 19oz - Daily wearer for the last 3 weeks. Starting to get some whiskering and some contrast in the honeycombs. Tight to the point that my back starts to hurt if I sit with them on after a while. Hasn't stretched out all that much and I only sized down one.

    3) Sugarcane SC41955 - My first major pair of Japanese denim (only had a pair of Imperial Dukes and Nudie RRDS before this one) and easily my favourite. I wear them around the house. Denim is supposedly 14oz (I think) but feels thinner. Not wearing them outside cause it's winter right now. The denim is unique. Hairy but smooth, the feel is completely different to any jean I own.

  7. ^^ I'd say somehting dumb like, you snooze you lose, but then again, I missed out on a pair of PRPS raw and Lee 101z off Denimbar, and I missed out on the SDA d1293 21oz. Snoozed right through all of those. I've memorised my credit card numbers, on the off chance there's something on the net I like and I can't find my wallet fast enough.

  8. Got the KMW 1980 off context for the same price as a pair of APC NS, just minutes ago. Grabbed the last pair they had which was W33. Normally wear a 33-34 depending on the cut. The thing that worries me is the size of the thigh. I have never bought a pair of jeans online that I didn't know the thigh size before purchase. But I had to grab these before they were all gone. Now I'm just biting my nails waiting for them to come in. Hopefully they fit like the Sam 710 and PBJ XX-007 in the thigh (bought both in size 33).

  9. WTF?!?!?!? Why did I not know about this>!>!>!>! (sale) Got the last pair of KMW 1980 in my size (33). Would have like a 34 inseam instead, but a 32 fits me normally (no stack). I was going to wait a while before my next jeans purchase, but I couldn't pass at that price. Too bad all the ALD Prescotts and APC NS were sold out, would have picked them up as well...:(

When did this sale even start? I've been looking in on the Denimbar sale and missed this completely. gah!

  10. Oh, yes, almost forgot. The reason behind this purchase is because NSW lost to QLD again. AGAIN!!! At Telstra Stadium!!! Where we haven't lost to QLD in 11 YEARS!!! I couldn't believe it. Match 3 is coming up in a weeks time and if Qld win again in a white wash (when was the last time that happened?), I'll be putting my order for a pair of Eternal 811 the same night. Insane, you might be thinking? I love my footy, and the only thing that can ease my pain is some retail therapy. :o

  11. Just got my pair of PBJ XX-007 from BiG today. For reference, I'm 5'9" and 185lbs (gotta ease up on the midnight snacks) and these are a one wash 33. From the measurements of the one wash off the BiG website, I thought that these would be a bit more loose fitting than my Sam 710s, but that lower rise makes it even tighter in the upper thigh/crotch region. Been wearing them for the last 2 hours and they seem to be stretching a bit (hopefully since it's a one wash, the thighs will stretch back to their raw size). The waist was no problem, buttoned it up on the first go. Got the one wash to shrink up the hem and they fit well lengthwise with a single cuff. Phew, no more slim fitting jeans after this.;) Some fit pics.

  12. I wonder what happened to the 21oz 510? Is it still coming out in August? Same time as the AI-Ns... I want both but can only afford one. Same cut, so it's basically down to thick versus natural dye. hummm. :(

Or I could just procrastinate like I normally do and miss the boat on both of them.

    Double hummmm. :( :(

  13. i say blank pockets imo, i think once u decide on stitchin, not evryone might like it, but if u keep it plain, im guessin most will accept that. i dunno i have a love hate relationship with arcs.

Plain pockets are boring. We need stitching. For those that don't like it, it's called a thread picker. ;)

  14. There are a lot of misconceptions here. For one, if sugarcane is not making any money by doing this, then why would they do it? The answer is advertisement. What provides the advertisement? The competition. If we do it as a group buy then they would not make money and they would not get any advertisement. So they have no reason to do it.

I think you mis-understood was I was trying to say. Of course it would make sense that Sugarcane would make these special contest jeans at cost (or near cost) for the free advertisment. What I was saying was if it were possible to do a group buy on a rare pair of hard-to-get SC natural indigos (like the 40400) so that everyone in the group could get it for a slight discount off retail (only if this competition thing wasn't going to happen because an appropriate "spot" hasn't opened up on the Sufu calender).

Doesn't matter, really. If SC wants to sponsor the next comp, I'm definitely in. I'd pretty much enter anything that gives me an excuse to wear a nice pair of jeans everyday.

  15. Hmmm, It looks more and more like this is the actual colour (maybe the jeans on the Samurai site were shot under studio lights or something), and I'm liking them more and more. Nuts...

  16. Not to fussed about what the design is, so long as there is a design. Stuff like green pockets and thread, silver hardware etc makes it more fun and unique. It'd be kind of boring if it was just a plain pair of jeans.

  17. I agree with sneakeraddict. My job doesn't allow me to wear jeans for half the week. I rather just buy jeans if they look good and add them to my collection (to my collective... hehe).

I don't know if Sugarcane would have made jeans for sufu members in a group buy capacity. A sufu competition could give a lot of free publicity for the brand and it be worth them to make jeans for cost of production. Which is too bad, really, because you can't have too many comps running and with the Samurai S5000 comp (which I missed out by a month, freak me.) and the Dubbleworks comp, there really isn't time/space/budget for a Sugarcane one before June 2008.

I like what Adsurgo's doing, in making his own jeans off suggestions from other sufu members. It's something different, and definitely unique. Something that can't be bought in stores. Barring any sizing problems, I'm definitely in on that.

There doesn't have to be a competition to justify a group buy. I'd rather a sizable group of us (like say 20) all put in as a group buy to get a discount on a pair of SC that would be very difficult to get on your own, eg. a pair of SC40400 Hawaii natural indigos (correct me if I got the product code wrong) with that freakish vertical fading.

The DenimJunkie group buy was something I had wanted to jump on, but fell through. Perhaps some of the members on the forum that can speak Japanese and have connections with more obscure brands could start group buys for jeans like Steam Locomotive, Kapital or Gardners (or that Momotaro jean everyone's been jumping up and down about).

    Anyway, just my two cents.

  18. Does anyone have any pics of the fit on the S510??

I'll try to post some pics of my S0130XJ and S5000VX later today.

EDIT: Here are the S5000VX pics, the S0130XJ came out blurry so i'll have to retake them. I know it's not your usually SF fit...but I like them just the way they are :)

If you like them that baggy, you should have just got the S510 in your true waist size. The S5000 is a bit slimmer and doesn't look quite right sized up like that.

  19. If I were a member of the Levi's team, I would want to sit down and pick out 3 or 4 brands to whom I would license the arcuate. People mistook my SDAs for the best quality Levi's that they had ever seen. As it stands, they're just pissing me off.

Don't know if small companies like Samurai, SDA etc, would be able to afford the "licencing" if Levis ever went down that road.

I find it ludicrous that Levis would be trying to take down companies that are only helping them. It's not like Rolex going after a company that makes cheap imitations that could hurt the brand. Samurai and SDA are making jeans with tab and arcuates that make Levis look like inferior quality imitations (oh, well, that would be a reason to sue, I guess. No one likes to be made to look like idiots)

  20. Oh well. It lets me shuttle my money around for something else until August. Doesn't matter how much action is happening on the Dubbleworks thread, even with the pre-order, (it looks like) the jeans themselves won't be available until Januray 2008. I'm still in for the most part, depending on cut now, I guess (was it the redline cone denim the majoirty decided on?)

  21. Oh WTF?!?! I was going to pass on these because of that "too grey" colour. Now I find out that they're more of a greeny-tan colour instead!?!?! Damn. Going to have to re-think these ones.
