  1. Quite honestly the only way I would wear True Religion ,Ernest etc or anything with a shit aged finish would be if you beat me into them with a large stick.

Get rid of the large in your face branding on the pockets for something more subtle and get some good independant outlets,UK,US,Aus.

The price could be too much for now,Sugarcanes retail for £160 and Pace of Sweden £120 in Manchester,Don't know how they sell though. LVC and LEE Japan £130.

    Stick at it

You could pay me (a lot) to wear True Religions (lol). I agree with everyone else, you're sort of stuck in the middle. To compete in price, you have to compete with the price one would pay over the internet to get yourselves international customers. Personally I like in your face branding, just take a look at Imperial. But Imperial can back up its quality and has the cult following on the net to prove it. You could use their approach into the denimhead market as a model.

  2. argh! comma h beat me to it.

denim doesn't look slubby at all.

oh btw, where the hell can you get APCs for 170?

cactus jam is the most useless piece of overpriced shit in melbourne.

Take the denimbar 20% off coupon from Styleforum, add the overseas shipping ($20-$25) and then convert to Australian. Should get you round $170-$180 depending on where the AUD is at against the world currency. My bro's looking to buy a pair.

I don't live in melbourne, but I hear that Cactus place is the Calliroots of Australia.

  3. Not sure if it fits in here..

But I bet no one cares..

    crackfree

That guy's ass crack looks like the trench run on the Deathstar. Fly down and shoot two proton torpedos down the guy's puckered anus. No harder than shooting whomp rats off the valley ridge. Lol. :D

  4. I agree with Comma H (and not just because he's a Sydneysider like me). You can't compare your relatively unknown brand with brands like True Religion (gah!) because 90% of the population is going go with the sure thing. At that price range 140 quid,(~AUD$320), you're well and above Imperial AUD$260, Nudie RRDS (cost me AUD$255), APC (AUD$170) which I think your brand looks similar to (it could be vastly superior, but I can't see that on a computer screen, and I can't feel these jeans in the flesh.). And that's only if you were competing against these brands, but you're competing against Japanese brands if ultimately you're trying to sell to people like us on websites like this. Your price is well above the standard price of Sugarcane, Samurai, Flathead, Skulls etc. etc. etc.

And yeah, you definitely ought to chainstitch those hems. Union special.

  5. Has it ever been mentioned on this thread whether the Momotaro store ships overseas? Because both Klax-on and Saddlemen do not (and to my knowledge, Hinoya doesn't carry the vintage line).

  6. Seen these in Selfridges Manchester at £39 in the sale down from£139.Excellent quality denim,up there with the Japanese Lee/Levis,great fit on the straight leg in raw but just couldn't live with the logo on pocket,it looked like it was screenprinted, considered buying them and trying to remove logo but probably would of fucked them up.Jeans were top though.

Apart from the hidden rivets and the offset rear belt loop, I don't see that much difference between these jeans and Aussie Imperials. And 140 quid is too much to cop. 39 is better. Jgpp, is the sale still on right now? Do you know if they have any 34 left?

  7. Cheers for the comments. The problem with sizing down on slim jeans is that it makes it difficult to wear lower.

Three hour hot soak with the water changed every hour. The water went a dark brown and there was a smell similar to rust that came off the jeans. By the third water change, the water was only slightly brown and the smell on the jean was much improved. No indigo loss that I could see. The denim felt a lot fresher after the soak (I don't need any of that metallic smelling brown stuff to come off the jeans onto my legs). It did shrink a little in the inseam (about 1 inch) so no cuffs. The waist sort of stayed the same, though I stretched it a bit while it was still wet.

Now it's off deck while I work on my SC40200 till the Dubbleworks comp.

  8. so i just noticed your post

does anyone else get irritated when there's 80 pages worth of information (probably 60, taking into account people who shit up the thread like me) in this thread alone, and this newbie here ignores the whole thing... or have anything to say about this?

any info would be much appreciated..

    panda.

Uh huh. So this guy just upped and bought himself a pair of SUGARCANE 47s without knowing anything about them? I don't know whether to applaud his bravery or ridicule his stupidity. eh. I get more irritated by people asking if SC makes a slim cut or not. SC makes 50 different types of jean all in the 47 repro cut (which I love) and one 66 cut (the 45's a bit slimmer as well, I admit). If you wanted a slim cut, you shouldn't be looking at SC to begin with.

  9. Putting up my KMW 1980 raw fit pics. They're soaking as I'm writing this, so probably have fit pics post soak in about 12 hours or so. They fit pretty slim and pretty low. Not too overly fond of the lower pockets, though.

  10. what motorcycle do you ride?

I ride an hour and a half to work through full on freezing London winter. Long Johns essential.

Suzi GS500F (that fairing comes in real handy, let me tell you). Going to have to break out the long johns myself.:o

  11. cut's not unusual, if anything, it's the same practically

natural indigo is really good, but then again some. (as in, each to his own)

the colour might've put people off, i do quite like it though. the methodology for the colour is unique to say the least.

also, take into consideration that sugarcane isn't a SUPER POPULAR brand in japan. most people couldn't care less about expensive high end denim - they'd just buy levis or anything that fits well. but definately more popular than samurai.

and also, take into account the price -- although it's quite low for a natural indigo, the price in comparison to the synthetic 'pure' indigo models is markedly different.

    just a few things.

I thought it was because they were the most colour uniform of all the natural indigos. Does not have the insane vertical contrast of the 40400 Hawaiis for example. Apart from little details like the lined back pockets, the jeans themselves are pretty ordinary looking. The greenish blue indigo is pretty unique though, and not as green as the edo awa.

Sydney winters are supposedly not as cold as Melbourne, but it's been freezing lately (and I ride my motorcycle to work). 21oz denim has let me ride without longjohns underneath, but one time I rode with my new sugarcanes, and my legs went numb from the cold.

  12. My KMW 1980 has finally arrived. Very interesting denim. Very uniform and smooth, no slub at all, and the natural indigo is almost grey in colour. Love the little details like the two tone selvage, donut buttons, nipple-less rivets and exposed selvage pocket.

Of course there are some concerns. While the waist fits me fine, the thighs are really tight. Almost as tight as my Imperial Dukes were when I first got them. And this is raw. Now I hate wearing raw jeans, so I'm tossing up whether to soak them, cause even though they are sanforized, truestorytravis has mentioned that they still shrink. And if they shrink, the legs might be too tight. Dye-lehmma... what to do...

And I'm not liking the pockets being that low. All in all, a very nice pair of jeans, different from my Sugarcane and Samurai. But in all honesty, something that I probably wouldn't have picked up had it been full retail. I'll have some raw and post-soak fit pics up soon.

  13. Eh, I'm a blue jean guy. For me to get a pair of blacks, they'd have to be out of this world good. I'm liking the 510 cut for 21oz better than the 5000, mainly because imo, it's harder to wear thick denim jeans in slim cut (eg. 19oz 710) My 710 are officially off rotation (after less than 2 months so I can have more time with my SC40200. Yeah, I should be committed to an insane asylum).

  14. I'm in, size 34. I'm just rubbing my hands with anticipation. I'm going to put these jeans through the hot-soak of DOOM! Get every last bit of starch out of them before I start. They are going to be as soft as chamois. Muahahahahaha! Can't hurt to try a little fading experiment on them. :D

  15. Most totally unique jeans I've ever seen. Insane details, esp, the left leg only having one seam. If I had a spare $400, I'd fork, just to own something that's completely different to anything out there (didn't like it at first, but it's growing on me).

  16. Fit pics. As I've mentioned before, they fit very similar to my SC41955s when I first got them. Even with multiple hot soaks, the denim is still fresh and stiff. Needs to be broken in. My thighs on the other hand are breathing sighs of relief. I can use these jeans to take a break from all the slim straights I've been wearing lately. On a side note, so glad I sized down. I stretched the waist out deliberately, but the rest of the body fits really well.

  17. nice pickup on them there canes--------i think they are overlooked among the satokibi

you will discover interesting little details as the months pass and when you do, share them with us!

Thanks ddml. The detailing is insane on these jeans. The pocket bags are supposidely dyed with persimmon and the backpockets are lined with the same cloth (and thick lining too. took forever to dry). The colour is this weird greenish/blue and very uniform (not like the SC40400 at all). I have no idea how this thing is going to fade. Going to be a lot of pics up on the evo thread over the coming months. And then there's the blue(indigo?) dyed scarf/bandanna thing. Awesome.
