  1. When they arrive at big, what do they look like, do they cut off the tag as the rumour goes?

No rumour. I think it's even mentioned on their site that they cannot sell the jeans with the tab and arcs intact.

  2. ditto ! same as dino did 2 sizes down and they fit ok...actually nice

I'm about the same height as Edmond but I think our builds are different. I had no problem with the waist sizing down one on the S710s, but the thigh size was brutal at the beginning. Especially after a luke-warm soak. I've since given them a hot wash, and though tight, at least this time round, it stretched out fast.

  3. I'm heading to San Fransisco in a few weeks, and I decided my next denim will be Imperial. Just wondering which cut you guys reccomend.

I like a regular cut. Not too skinny, but not relaxed either. More on the regular/slim side. Basically I just don't my jeans hugging my thighs or my ass. I have a Skull 5507, Kicking Mule 1980, and a Nudie Regular Ralf, and I like the fits on all of them, the KMW less since it's a bit slimmer than I like (but I think it'll stretch a bit).

So, would you guys go for the Dukes or the Kings if you were me? I normally wear a 32 in regular denim, 31 in raw.

I'd size up on the Dukes. Check the thigh measurements, because with Dukes, they tend to run quite slim, and if you've got big legs, probably the Kings are the way to go. I got my true waist size on the Dukes and it took a month of constant wear before the thighs stretched out to just snug. But then, I thought the Kings were just a touch too relaxed in the thigh. If Imperial had a cut between the two, it'd be perfect.

  4. Damn, we're booking far far ahead. I know I'm going to have the Dubbleworks and (hopefully) the Denime contest (off mynudie) to look forward to in 2008. In between wearing those awesome jeans (saves me from buying a pair of Warehouse 1001XX - I can tick that off my list now), I can sleep with Adsurgo's jeans like a security blanket, because I figure that's all the time I'll have left to do anything with them. Then it's onto Sugarcane 2009. Hopefully because of the wait, we can go all out with a really nice details and SC's natural correct indigo denim.

I'm still waiting for the measurements of the SExSC to come out as well.

  5. Bump for my question re-post.

Hey, question: I tried searching but couldn't really find the answer so I'm sorry in advance if it's been answered. What's the deal with the new Samurai sizing? It's an inch smaller, is that correct? If I order from 2nd is it likely to be the new sizing? I want to order the s5000vx. Oh, I wear 31 in 811 and 103. What's your call on the s5000vx size? THANKS.

I think all the lot 10 (2007) jeans are one size down. I sized down on my S710s and even though they've stretched out a bit, I really should have gone with my true waist of 34. I'll be sizing down one for the 510 instead of two later in the year.

  6. Bumping this from the tombs. Reading the last few pages just makes me realise how much excitement this thing produced. It's gutted me that the group buy didn't go through (even though I wasn't one of the initial people to put their hands up, a few weeks after my sexiho purchase I was ready to go). :(

I'll probably wait until August and then, if I've got any money left, hit up a proxy and put in for the pre-purchase on the DJ501XX heavy.

  7. Plus proxy, plus shipping. For me the shipping's the same for cheaper jeans as expensive jeans. I try to get more bang for my buck when I buy from Japan (cause EMS ain't cheap). Those Real McCoys look really good. Probably going to wait until Selfedge gets them in, then I can get proper sizing measurements and free shipping. Probably cop a pair of those if the new SExSC doesn't agree with my massive legs.

  8. BS= Bank of Springfield (heehee)

I've been over this thread in the past, but I can't remember if I saw any pics of the Oni Veg. Is it supposedly dyed with natural vegetable indigo or something? What does everyone think of the selvage arcuate, and do you think it is worth the (can't remember how much more it costs over the Oni Blues) extra?

  9. Damn, Just had a look back at the first post again. I'm really feeling that black line streaky denim. Too bad you're not making two pairs of jeans and/or have denim options. Still, the red line denim doesn't look too bad. It's going to be my first pair of Cone denim jeans. Yeah! Bring it awn!:D

  10. sucks, i aint gettin my grimmys.

We received you order, however, due to the high volume of orders your, item was out of stock. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.

    Kindly,

I hope I don't get that message. Context has already put an authorisation on my credit card. No message about them being shipped out yet.

  11. I've ridden motorcycles in winters that you don't even have in Australia but I personally don't see much use for 21oz jeans besides that. Even the Onis that Poly is talking about don't feel that heavy comparing to 21oz. I really was thinking about getting the 21oz SDA's cause the denim felt so nice but they just felt too heavy for everyday wear. If I would have a motorcycle right now I would get them but I grew out of trying to kill myself.

I only ride my bike to and from work. Just a little 500 twin I use as a commuter. I did all that fast riding/getting speeding tickets when I was younger. The 21ozers are just nicer to wear in the winter time. Walking outside, riding the train. I don't believe that you can have one pair of jeans that you can wear year round (for me, boredom factors in as well). I have my 12-13oz jeans for summer and 17-21oz jeans for winter.

I'n sore about missing out on those SDA d1293s, but from what I heard, the denim's not too different from the Ironhearts. The Samurai 21s are supposedly a thicker version of their 19oz denim.

  12. I don't get the 21oz obsession. I'm sure the denim will be very nice but it will be so heavy that you really have to be mental to wear it in anything over 70 degrees. I guess they could work as winter jeans or maybe if you ride a motorcycle. Otherwise that shit is just to heavy.

I take it you've never ridden a motorcycle at 3am in the middle of an Australian winter (hey, it might not snow, but minus 3 celcius is pretty cold). It's winter right now and those sexihos are really earning their keep (and so will those 510s if I get them). The more relaxed leg would definitely help in saving my crotch from getting crushed in the crouch.

  13. get both get both!!! thats what i did and im planning to get the 21oz. s5000vx too! hahahah

I'd love to, but there's just too many gdmn jeans I want to get and I can't blow my entire clothing fund on just samurai (thought there are any number of people on this thread who have nothing but sams and it would make sense to them). I've still got any number of Sugarcane repros, a pair of SDA, Skulls, Flathead and Fullcount jeans I still want to get in my collection (over the next few years I might add. I ain't Rockefeller). Then there's the Dubbleworks comp, Adsurgo's jean project, various wallets, belts and boots that are still on my list of must haves. So, yeah, space for only one, I'm afraid (and maybe not even one since I got that pair of KMWs yesterday).

  14. The only thing similar on my jeans to lowrider's is the fade on the back belt loop. Apart from that and some very very light whiskering in the front, there's basically nil fade on my sexihos. I wore them for something like 30 days. The honeycombs at the back looked creased and in the light it sort of seemed like there was some fading going on. But when I gave them a wash about 3 weeks ago (warm machine with a bit of ordinary detergent), the back of the legs smoothed out to nothing. No fade, crease or anything. The jeans sort of looked a little more blue with the colour coming out, but no real contrast anything.

    I'm too impatient. It's a failing, I know.

  15. Its a shame they do all of the cool stuff in the 510 cut instead of the 5000.

I think the 510 is similar to the repro cuts that SC does, which I think I would like, though I can't say from personal experience, since I actually don't own any pairs of Sams in the 510. My gut feeling is that I would like the cut better than the s710 I currently own. I guess I'll find out once I get my hands on either the 21oz or the AI-N.

  16. That AI-N looks darker in real life. Not as blue as the studio photos. Man, they look good, really tasty. Damn you, Polishmike!>!>!>!>! I'm just going to go into a corner and weep now.:(

  17. Just by way of who and how and where they are, people have turned it a popularity contest for sure. But no more so than anywhere else they post in the forum ... it's aggravating, but it's how Sufu is right now, with a rapidly expanding membership of young people who are fixed on being competitively cooler than whover the next post comes from.

So true... And then you have guys like me who are nearing their third decade (like a bullet train, I might add), who only buy what they like and to heck with the justification or coolness factor.

I thought I read some XX pages back that everyone was going to send in their jeans to one location so that they can all be judged comparitively or something? I don't know, I'm just so annoyed I missed this. I only joined sufu in February of this year, sitting in front of my computer in my RRDS thinking I was cool and edgy. I'm chomping at the bit for the Dubbleworks one. I might even buy a new camera for it.
