mojinho - it's pineapple fried rice - so the rice is fried with a yellow spice similar to saffron, pineapple cubes, and bits of chinese sausage. It's originally a thai dish.
and yes, it's actual chicks in a box. "Alive with Flavour!" it's an azn thang.
Goose25, anyone who makes eclairs, is sexy. well actually anyone who keeps the superservers up, is sexy.

and back to our regular programme...
i'm sitting around surfing before dinner at home tonight. and since it's mummy cooking, you can be sure of food porn photos later. oh. and photos of the revamped kitchen too!

Quite a surprise there Soepom, you going to go for the full series? How did you hang them, fishing wire, can't see anything in the bolt holes? Looks good
no the full series is far too big for my wallspace. and was also sold out when i was at the store - these two were my favourite from what was left in stock.
and yes, used very fine but strong transparent fishing wires for mounting. almost invisible unless upon close inspection.

i sold them. decided not to fool myself any longer into believing i'll ever go back to learning.

the colours are a little washed out but it's generally nice and calm anyways. a welcome change to my previous room.
don't be fooled by the shoewheel. its functionality needs to be much improved, even though it looks like a cool idea.
the adjoining work area which was recently extended out of my bedroom. i love the little alcove. this extra bit of space made all the difference. without it i'd be unable to maintain the clean aesthetics in my sleeping area.
i'd have preferred the shelf to be emptier... but it's extremely difficult to keep purchases/ collections from accumulating and demanding to be displayed
brought out my old beloved lava lamp. so glad it still works after being neglected for almost 2 years.
where i now spend hours and hours trolling superfuture.
i don't skate, but i'm fond of neckface. the boards were a really affordable way of owning some form of his art. i wanted the neckface vans too but they didn't have it in my size...
the kitchen's been renovated too. will post when there's daylight. these are the only spaces in my (mother's) house i can lay claim to because i decided the layout/ design/ furnishing. although the renovation costs were kindly sponsored by mum (thank you!) save for the decorative elements in my room.

whoa... i be gone for awhile and all this shit's been junking up the thread. selegna don't you know that backinthetrees is already the official cuisine team shit stirrer?
whizkit is my hero. i vote him for wayet mod.
been really lazy with the photo archiving - but here're some interesting things i ate.
this may look like a pedestrian egg-tart - but instead of the usual egg custard filling, it's actually made of soya beancurd. very nice. not too sweet, and has the wonderful consistency of beancurd instead of the mushiness of custard
i had to buy and try it after noticing the description on the packaging.

the rare occasion soepom cooks...
lunch improvised with whatever was in the fridge, for tweedle's birthday two days ago:
aglio olio, tomato, mozzarella and dill omelette, breadcrumbed prawns with mandarin orange and strawberry yoghurt chutney.
the real birthday treat that night at Ember - chef's table for two (chef prepares whatever 8 courses he feels like)
cold dish - angel hair pasta with konbu
very refreshing and delicate on the palate
fried oysters with an assortment of dips - the only dish i felt we could have done without, although the mint dip was good.
home made tofu with foie gras sauce
angel hair pasta with sakura ebi (i loved the unique texture of the shrimp that's at once slightly cripsy yet soft, the taste was rather a surprise too. slightly spicy with a strong fresh shrimp flavour yet nothing like the usual dried shrimp used in chinese cooking)
pan seared foie gras with caramelised apple cubes. perfect.
chilean seabass with ginger and soy broth. easy to see why it's the house specialty
duck breast. well-prepared, but not particularly crazy about it given everything else was more exciting.
pineapple sorbet with lemongrass glaze
can't remember the names of the desserts. essentially a chocolate torte with vanilla ice cream, and a fig/date cake with ginger ice cream.

where there's a queue, there's a hypebeast. this was something everyone was kopping. red bean cake in a fish shape. one was green tea flavoured and the other was black sesame. tasted much the same to me though...
really pretty looking ice cream. tasted good too. the wafer shell was soft and sticks to your teeth, and the raspberry ice cream was tangy and freshhhh.
