I've had Intelligentsia a few times at the shop down in the loop and liked it, but just found these videos last week and made me go to the main store in Lakeview just to buy some fresh house blend and Black Cat beans. I definitely like the Lakeview location better, more relaxed atmosphere. The roaster location offers tours and cuppings, I need to get in on that, but you gotta book like 2 months in advance
super nice videos by a production company called Dept. of 4th Dimension.
And I was gonna save this for the beer thread, but it's appropriate here as well: Goose Island Bourbon County Barrel Aged Coffee Stout brewed with Black Cat beans. It tasted like drinking a 13% abv cappacino

Highly overrated? I would say UNDERRATED and slept on by most.
I think he made a typo.

Here's a few from recently. I've had more, I think I just didn't get any pics
Three Floyds Brian Boru
Short's Brew The Soft Parade. I really liked this, it was almost a lambic, but not quite as sour or funky
Short's Huma Lupa LIcious IPA
Lagunitas WTF
and a Three Floyds x Half Acre collaboration Helles Bock. This was really good.

I'll post an update in a week or so, all my end-of-semester/grad school projects are due this week so I will be busy with no time for updates. Although, I've had quite a few great beers lately, including a 3Floyds x Half Acre Helles Bock that was superb. Although I'm bummed I didn't make it to Dark Lord Day (tickets went too quick), I read online that it was a total clusterfuck that would have made me crazy anyway. Oh well, maybe next year.

twisted or any other Chicagoans.....Any word on where to get some Goose Island Nightstalker? I'm embarrassed to say that I haven't even ventured into the local beers yet although I've only been here for a month and a half to be fair
I saw some just yesterday at the Binny's in River North. Bonus--it's craft beer month there so if you have a membership card (free) you can get most bombers and 6-packs of good stuff for $1-2 off, a pretty good deal.

Mmmm, refreshing.
Are you in Chicago? I got a growler of that stuff the week it came out and loved it. Good choice.

I wish I could see what those who came after me wrote in the notebook, I got it too early (and didn't contribute enough)

I heard about this, but haven't tried it. It's the old, "Condom full of water on the bed trick."
You take a few square feet piece of cardboard and put some lube on it. Then take a condom and start filling it up with water, supported by the cardboard. Apparently, condoms can hold an extremely insane amount of water/jizz, something like 3 gallons or so. Fill the condom up to the point of right before it pops. Carry it carefully (via supported by the greased cardboard) over to your friends bed. Slide it off onto their bed. It will be so full of water that any attempts to move it will make it burst, therefore flooding their bed with gallons of water/jizz.

I think juliet will save Sun as well.
My theory on the Kwan that is the candidate = neither Sun nor Jin, their Muh'fuckin Child. Called it first!

^^ Why have I seen this on like 4 different blogs just tonight? Weird. It seems too viral to me, like they took the idea from Rushmore and made it real. With younger kids. IDK, I still like this:

Yes, I feel bad for not making it out either. But believe me when I say "it's me, not you." I'm pretty anti-social. However, it's not to say I wouldn't try to make it out in the next few days.
The problem is, any place that's worth going is going to be crowded and crazy, thus making it hard to have a meet up anywhere. I did get to try Big Star a couple weeks ago on a Friday night. After 11pm it thinned out enough to get some seats and chill at the bar. I don't like going to the newest, trendiest spots, but I have to admit, their drinks were fucking great. Decent whiskey and tequila selection.
Revolution Brewing just opened, but I've heard mixed results. Or maybe a meet up and tour of Half Acre Brewery on Saturday afternoon. Bad Apple is pretty good too, but since you just had Kuma's, no need to do burgers again.

This looks like it has potential...if it gets funded. "Dragons."

s5000vx, bought right at 3 years ago. they probably have 1.5-2 years of actual wear.
I don't know how many washes these have, probably around 5-10 total. They still have a lot of indigo left in the shin area. Had to have the pocket bags fixed a few months ago, they were fraying at the top. Other than that they're holding up well, I don't go crazy in them.

the fixers look nice and all, but I know I'd cut my fingers off trying to use one.

sorry I missed out, had dinner plans already.

From the past month or two
Dark Horse Perkulator. Really good coffee stout
Founders Double Trouble. A DIPA on par with the rest. Good, nothing out of the ordinary though
Three Floyds Lord Admiral Nelson. Very good. Nice and hoppy, with almost a red ale maltiness
And Hopslam. What can I say that hasn't already been said about it before? The best part is the price. Sure, it's expensive for a 6pack, but when broken down, it comes to a little over $5 for a bomber. At least, that's how I've been justifying it to myself.

thanks for the offer Ken, wish I'd known earlier. No big deal though, a few places are selling the Extreme for $70 which didn't seem too bad for a 200-220 lumen, programmable light.
I got mine from Going Gear, but Battery Junction had them for $70 also but apparently they had a fire within the past week and they don't know when they'll be able to accept orders.

thanks Ken and branespload, it won't let me rep.
I ended up ordering the nitecore last night. If I don't like carrying it in my pocket, I'll give it to my wife who expressed interest in having a defensive strobe. So it should work for one of us at least.

what the fuck with the fake locke throwing the black rock in to the ocean and sayin "inside joke".... do we get that joke yet? i did not.Seeing them all meet up in the alternate reality is annoying as shit to me...
jacob had a thing for numbers is too vauge... they are supposed to be answering questions here, not making more....
whats up with sawyer being given the option of protecting the island.
what the fuck is the most importiant question really, why your here? really?
i am getting mad.
The inside joke part is that he threw the rock into the ocean, meaning that Jacob is dead. Sawyer wouldn't get that.
The producers said a long time ago that the numbers didn't mean anything, but that they caught on unexpectedly. They never had a point or reason behind the numbers. So they're just using anything to give a nod to them.
On the other hand, does anybody else fear for Hurly because he's been wearing a redshirt this season? They better not kill him. He's been the "voice of the audience" through the series. Killing him will be the ultimate "fuck you, audience" that they could ever do.
Oh yeah, the ending will suck no matter what. Nothing they could write could live up to (answer any questions) the amount they've built up.

B-Dawg, I haven't been able to rep you for like 6 months. Don't know what's up, but I should contact the mods soon.
Great stuff.

Kenthenoob, I was looking for Nitecore extreme r2 pics on flickr and the only 3 that came up were yours.
I was wondering what your thoughts were on the light. I'm thinking of getting one, but didn't know if you knew how it compared to either the Novatac 120t, or the less pricey Quark 123 Tactical or Fenix pd20.
Any comments would be helpful.

Cross post from the coffee thread:
Goose Island Bourbon County Barrel Aged Coffee Stout. It's their BCS brewed with Intelligentsia Black Cat Espresso beans. 13% abv. I actually probably shouldn't have drank it the other night when I did, I wasn't really in the mood for something so heavy. I didn't enjoy it as much as I would have had it been a bit colder outside or if I'd shared it. But as for flavor, you could REALLY taste the coffee, it tasted like a (very) alcoholic cappuccino
