  1. Thanks Danny!

I like the fit a lot, more than I initially thought I would even. I found them to be slimmer from the knee down than the chart indicates, which is a good thing in my book. Jeans made for boys tend to fit really tight on my thighs and flare out (or give that impression) below the knee, plus they're usually way too roomy in the waist when I size according to thigh measurements. As soon as these stretch a little in the upper thigh, they're going to be pretty much spot on according to my tastes.

  2. HC-SF-81 checking in. Steel Feather 21oz SF0121 jean.

X-post from pictures only thread. I've certainly set myself up for a couple of weeks of discomfort and mild pain here, because these jeans are heavy and tight. I think us girls can get away with that type of fit (hopefully), and I'm sure I'll be fine soon anyways. This is just how my Samurai 710s fit in the beginning and they are perfect now.

To hem or not to hem? I'm not usually a big fan of stacking, but i think it kind of works in this case. I'll give them another soak from the knee down before I decide. Input is most welcome.

Bonus shot on the bike (where I'll be spending a lot of time to loosen them up) this morning:

  3. any of you ladies here join hwdc2 ?

I did! I'll be wearing Steel Feather. Had to size up a little due to the thigh measurement (my achilles heel) and the fact that it's a boyish cut, but I have a fairly straight figure so I should be ok.

  4. Size 31 (I am 5ft9, 143lbs for reference) after 1hr hot soak. The waist shrunk approx 2.5 inches which surprised me a little but I am happy with them now. Snug but still comfortable.

Very nice fit, LeftOfRitual! Since we have the same height and weight (though I imagine quite different body shape since I'm a girl), would you mind measuring the upper thigh for me?

  5. So I got a pair of 1954 501Z on half price from Tres Bièn last week and thought it might be useful to post up measurements pre- and post-soak. I actually soaked twice, first in a bucket then in the washing machine on a wool program, because I wanted more shrinkage. Only size 31 was available at the time of purchase, but ideally I should have gotten a 30 or maybe even 29.

Tag size 31x34, measurements are done BiG-style.

    Pre-soak

    Waist: 15.75

    Front rise: 11

    Thigh: 11.8

    Hem: 7.5

    Inseam: 34

    Post-soak/-wash

    Waist: 14.75

    Rise: 10.25

    Thigh: 11.25

    Hem: 7.25

    Inseam: 31.5

In sum, the measurements and shrinkage were more or less as I expected, except for the hem. A size 32 measured and posted up on Denimhunters allegedly has a 6.7" hem so this was a bit surprising to me. Anyway, I still like the fit and hope this is somewhat helpful.

  6. Samurai 0500, size 31 x 36, $200 + shipping from Norway. **SOLD**

Bought a year ago and hot soaked initially, but worn only a dozen times or less because the jeans are too big on me and I never quite dug the fit.

Minimal wear, except for a stain on the leather patch (no idea what happened there) and a worn spot on the lower right leg after a biking mishap.

Will also consider a trade for a Samurai 710 in 30x36 or 31x36, no matter how worn.

    Measurements

    Waist: 16,5"

    Thigh: 12,25"

    Hem: 8

    Inseam: 36

APC New Cure, size 29, $75 including shipping from Norway.

Hot soaked once, hot washed with no detergent once. Some vertical streaks appeared after last wash (see honeycomb picture), but these are not that visible when the jean is worn and stretched out.

Right belt loop was torn off in the lower end in an attempt to pull these up, they fit really tight on my thighs and butt and some force was necessary, but is sewn back on and seems solid now. Please see the pictures.

    Measurements

    Waist: 15,25"

    Thigh: 11"

    Hem: 7"

    Inseam: 33"

    PM me!

  7. Got the Shearers a couple of days ago. Love the fit and the high waist, although I pretty much fill them out in the areas that are supposed to be loose and comfortable, ie the ass and thighs. I guess that's what being a girl is about, and they're by all means still comfortable to wear.

I removed the back pocket stictching, not because I hated it - I just thought the jeans would look better with blank pockets, but boy did I regret it after 5 minutes. It took more than 2 hours to do both pockets because of the v-stitches and (at least) 2 different threads, and that was with good sewing tools.

(Free tip for those who are thinking about doing the same: start with the inside, that makes it easier.)

    Fit pics to come.

  8. Kiya, this might be a stoooopid question (don't hate, I HAVE searched, both the Selfedge site and here), but I wonder how you measure the thighs. Straight from the crotch to the outside or lower?

I have compared with other online shops (for example BiG) and my impression is that your thigh measurements are always smaller. Take for instance the Skull 50-10xx 6x6 in a size 30. On BiG's site the thigh is 11.5", on yours is 11". That's one whole inch in total and would be a dealbreaker for me and my thick thighs.

The reason for this question is that I'm planning to buy a pair of Imperial shearers soon, but I'm afraid a size 31 (my true waist) will be too tight in the thigh, even though the model is supposed to be comfortable in the upper half and fitted from the knee down.

I'm not abnormal or anything, just athletic.

  9. **SOLD**

Ok. So I started taekwondo, lost weight and sold my dear old Grifters (size 31,5). But then my thighs got big after all that training, and now these new ones (size 30) don't fit. Bummer!

Limited edition (75 pairs) streaky Grifters, size 30x34, sold out from Mr. Ande himself.

These have just been tried on and kept on hold while wearing other jeans, they are exactly like new.

The jeans are true to size, please look up the measurements on Ande Whall's own site.

Yours for $120 shipped anywhere. PM me.
