  1. The green stamp looks awesome, i'm looking forward to the start of this contest more and more.

    Well i am sure glad i didn't pick this one as a nick, but when i google 'rustbucket' in the urban dictionary some scetchy explanations come up too ;-)

    Good that your handle on denimbros even though similar is not that one.

    But who knows what urban meaning might lurk behind that one ;-)

  2. Great update on the Santa Rosa's Rayw, they've developed a really desirable profile and the green Biltrite (or are they O'Sullivans?) soles give them just the right look.

    How are those soles holding up, Are they harder wearing than Cat's Paws?

    Fre-co, i like the Russell's a lot, the combo is just right.

    I've never consired these until i saw yours.

  3. Good eye ie, the jacket is indeed a MF biribi in tan linnen.

    No the D66 are not the contest jeans, for the contest a special version of the D00XX '46 model will be made.

    The D66 is actually based on a '69 501, but if it's slimmer than a '47 cut i'm not sure.

    It has a lower rise, is quite slim in the legs with a slight taper.

    The '47 cut is higher rise, but might even be a tad slimmer in the legs, and i think has a stronger taper, a really nice cut too.

    But the '46 cut which the contest jeans will be based on is fuller than a '47, more along the lines of a '44 cut i believe but with different (post war) detailling.

    Hope i don't sound too confusing...

  4. Some additional D66 porn...

    Stitch runoff on the pocketbags, love these small details

    imagegke.jpg

    Universal rivets

    imageayt.jpg

    No coinpocket selvage, correct detail for a '69

    imageorgh.jpg

    Paper patch after the wash

    imagepgw.jpg

    Genuine rayon red tab with inverted ®

  5. No sweat patch.

    groove, i thought so too, fit wise they appear pretty similar too, although i believe they taper a bit more than the 1100, correct me if i'm wrong.

    SLAB, that was the first thing i thought when i saw these.

    Can't compare side by side sadly, but the denim does look a lot like the Kyoto denim.

    Taichi has sought a denim which should come very close to the original denim Levi's used in the late sixties.

    I've always regretted not picking up the Kyoto's and Tokyo's when they were around.

    Do you still have your's btw?

  6. Not really on topic of this contest, but Devi's related, i got a pair of the D66 and put pics and measurements up in the unknown Japanese brands thread.

    And Devi's do appear to be a bit undersized like Ed mentioned, so i'm pretty confident i'm taking my regular size in these.

  7. b_F, most of your questions already answered i think, i was busy posting the pics ^_^

    I'm going to get these in rotation untill the D00XX contest starts, then i'm going to concentrate on those, and these will remain in a light rotation i think.

    So on to the measurements, i never do the waist BiG style because i think it's not the most accurate.

    I measure all the way round, on the inside of the jeans, buttoned up.

    I also measured the waist Taichi's way, so i'll include that as well.

    Waist 89 => 86,5 cm

    Waist Taichi's way 90,5 => 88

    thigh 32 => 31

    knee 25 => 24

    hem 23 => 21,5

    inseam 93,5 => 85,5

    rise 29 => 26,5

    I had them hemmed by about an inch by Taichi btw, he's very easy to work with, you can just give hem the inseam you desire post-soak and he'll do the math.

  8. some details

    and a comparison with the darkest denim i own and the MF cali's which are closer, but still a lot different in color.

    The denim was pretty light, red cast, in color pre-soak, but has actually darkened after the soak and wash, it's really lovely.

  9. ^^ i know the problem, no worries.

    The way Taichi measures the waist makes a bit of a difference opposed to the way we are used to measuring, it does make the waist appear slightly bigger i guess, so subtract 1 cm and you'll get your usual waist size.

    I'll wait for the final measurements of the actual Green Stamp D00XX before deciding, but if i go by the current measurements i don't think it'll be a good idea to size down.

  10. Not really, but thanks anyway. ;)

    I was wondering because Denime is now owned by McCoys and they seem to produce a fair amount of sweats, prices vary significantly though, some are really cheap, others in the same league as the RMC's prices.
