  1. Nice collection double-o.

This thread revival has got me checking out rakuten for new sweats, the new style Buzz just doesn't cut it for me although i really like the subdued red color, i like my old one much better.

  2. anybody finds the mister freedom website dont work properly on ipad?

Correct, only the first two pages are visible i believe, can be annoying sometimes when you want to check out older stuff.

  3. I assume we will get them raw, not one-wash?

That way i will have more control over the shrinkage since i'm considering going with a 32, the 34 post wash measurements do look rather big indeed, ideally i would have needed a 33 waist in these i think.

Does Devi's offer a hemming service btw, or do those who want that need to take care of it after receival?

I'm really liking the attention to detail being put into these jeans, green stamp will look very nice imo.

The double red tab detail on the vintage pair Aho posted looks very interesting.

  4. just checked their 66 (or rather 69) cut; the denim looks very similar to the Kyoto Denime model imo

This sounds like something i'd be really interested on getting in on, a 60's cut which comes close to the 'real deal' has been on my wanted list for a long time.

I'll be keeping an eye out on this thread fo sure.

  5. I have a pair of Alden AF43 boots in black shell cordovan horsehide for sale.

Size is US9E, in great condition, the pics speak for themselves.

Trubalance last and commando soles, they've always been kept treed.

Asking price 350 euro, please add PayPal fees.

Shipping free to some west European countries incl. the UK.

Any questions just shoot me a pm.

Update 20 september 2013, these are still available and have had zero wear since been up for sale.

The heels have small gaps inbetween the stacks due to wear, very common with Aldens.

It's visible in one picture, nothing serious though and still solid as a rock, but i wanted to mention it anyway.

Exclusive model for Alden of Carmel

  6. I do recall Denime fakes floating around on ebay some years ago, so i guess it's possible.

And with the current high prices on Shins and Orrizonti Denime it would be attractive to produce fakes.

Not saying these are fake though!

But the patch also looks a bit off to me, and the denin looks different.

Weren't there Evisu fakes also using 2 colours of selvage?

  7. , for the record, shrinkage is pretty brutal even on a cold rinse. fortunately mine has ended up pretty perfect fitting for me,

Thor, what size did you get, and did you also have 2 inches shrinkage in the chest?

I'm condidering getting the Gunslinger jumper, thinking i will need a size 40 by TwelveAM's measurements of the size 38, but i'm not sure.

  8. I just got a response from Zip about the boots after hearing some questions you guys had.

They use 7-8 oz leather for all their engineers, and you can also get the flat toe shape that I have but have a celastic reinforcement put in as well. So it would be the same shape but with some toe protection if you need it.

Interesting and good to know, pretty heavy leather so it seems, are they stiff out of the box?

I would prefer no reinforcement at all, but i can imagine someone wanting the low toe profile with some protection, great that he offers both options.

How long did you have to wait for them being build?

  9. Can anyone with some knowledge on leather and their different weights shed some light on the fact if less heavy leather also automatically means lesser quality?

I'm asking this because usually, and strangely when you think of it, there are no specs at all given on leather weight of a boot.

While on the by us much coveted denim, and shirts and jackets for that matter, the weight is usually mentioned.

I read in an interview with John Lofgren that the upcoming Lofgren engineers will be made using Horween CXL with a weight inbetween 2.3 to 2.6 oz.

What's the usual weight of some high end engineer boots we're all familiar with, anyone knows this?

I heard somewhere inbetween 5 to 9 oz.

  10. Mich, it is a special order, but there is no extra charge for it. You can really ask him to make any feature you want and he can do it. Most, if not all, requests will be no extra charge.

My extra requests, like the green rolled top and unreinforced toe, cost me nothing extra. I think only certain brands of vintage soles will cost more because they are harder to find.

Thanks for the info, it does sound tempting to be able to tweak certain details, especially at no extra expense.

  11. Ray, is the non celastic toe a special request or an option Zip now offers along with the celastic toe i've seen on other Santa Rosa engineers?

I really like this ultra low toe profile straight out of the box, i can imagine these will get a great shape with some wear.

The high toe has always put me off from the older Santa Rosa's, and i do agree with attack that the new shaft has a much better shape.

  12. have you heard there's a difference?

No, i was just wondering how to size them since i'm interested in picking up a pair.

I'd actually prefer the Julian made ones, but most of them seem gone in my size, so i'll settle for the new engineers.

Do you know who makes them btw? Apparantly it's still a US maker, but no longer Julian.
