Still trying to get evo on my IH overdyed type III. This doesn’t give up the fades easily, despite having it for awhile

I've had the same problem. I think I've had mine for 4 years now. I do have some fades happening, but honestly, if I knew it was gonna stay so almost but not quite black, I'd probably have just gone for a black IH type3.

It seems to me it is a mix of natural and synthetic, just like the Edo Ai is a mix of the greenish stuff and well, regular indigo. That they go to pains to emphasize the natural dyeing of the pocket bags and the patch but not the denim itself reinforces this to me. What that mix is, who knows. So yea, it's made of natural indigo, but not exclusively so.

Yes, it's really made of natural indigo.

@AlientoyWorkmachine - not a mix, but natural indigo.

Just some picks of my LVC 1944 501's. The painted arcuates have pretty much faded away.

Jesus, Grant! I remember when you were favoring the Lee 44's over these. These have aged well.

I have no idea how normal sized people even manage to fit into RGT jeans

What qualifies as normal? I'm 5'11", 175 lbs and their stantons/officer trousers fit me great. I had more issues fitting into the Three Sixteen SL jeans than RGT's pants. Plus I like that they're doing something new, but to each their own. My regular daily wear denims are Iron Hearts so I don't go to them for everything.

  5. Their officer trousers and supply jacket are my two favorite items they produce. Possibly because they are the most unique in execution whereas their other items (I have a pair of stantons), while good, are simply another choice in the market.

So educate me on WWII rough out service boots.
who makes a good pair? Love the Lofgren a but that price is way out of my budget.
    Thanks

WWII Impressions makes a good pair - resoleable, well-crafted. NOT like the degree Lofgren's are.

    Army roughouts: https://www.wwiiimpressions.com/collections/footwear-army/products/697

    Marine roughouts: https://www.wwiiimpressions.com/collections/usmc-footwear/products/694

The Marine model has a narrower, to my eye, more modern toebox. I've owned a pair of WWII Impressions footwear - the Army Service Boot (non-roughout) and found them to be heavy duty and durable.

    Amen.

So, what are you saying, @Pedro? You just agreed with Flash, who basically articulated the opposite of what I understood to be your point - he said we aren't expecting "stitch for stitch", but you earlier said we should. What would make you happy from LVC that you aren't getting?

Nope, not for me. Too Fashion Forward, too gimmicky, too band wagon-y, too trendy. Not to mention absurdly expensive. I appreciate the attempt to make a new style denim jacket though, as I think Type I, II & III are somewhat stale. Maybe this stuff will appeal to the folks on the Urban Tech Wear forum.

I think that jacket isn't any of those things - it is a new spin but lands squarely in the traditional column as it goes to fits. The only non-traditional detail is the lack of chest pockets, which cleans up the lines of the jacket but otherwise, it's hardly trendy.

The hoodie is definitely the most "out there" piece but every other article isn't too far afield from what other Japanese companies are doing. But to your point - if you like traditional aesthetics, there are other, cheaper options. Still, I'm feeling this collection more than I thought I would for sure.

Hey guys, if any of you LVC experts care to help me it would be greatly appreciated!

I've lost more money on raw denim than I'd care to admit so figured I'd come here for some input...what I'm looking for is a LVC cut that best resembles Marlon Brando's in the wild one...I know, an overused model but to me it's the perfect cut-anti-fit enough to accomodate bigger thighs while still having a fitted seat and high rise. The most flattering silhouette that isn't slim-fit, imo. I've tried the 47 but the thigh is just too slim for the look I want, especially since I'll be washing fairly often to achieve subtle fades. ANY suggestions would be appreciated!

And if it helps my waist is 32'' (1'' below belly-button) while my upper thigh measures 21.5''

I'd guess the 55 model. Maybe sized down one.

  11. Shadow Selvedge Type III restock is coming within the next 4 to 6 weeks and there's a limited edition unsanforized Type III coming in February!

We just got these at SESF yesterday, go in and try it on when you get a chance.

I got some time to kill after work in the Mission tonight, I'll swing by.

  12. Speaking of PF Flyers, anyone have thoughts on the made in the USA ones?

I noticed my trusty 70's Converse are finally starting to go a bit, might be time for a new black hightop shoe.

The only thing I don't really like is the outward facing logo, I'm used to the inside ones on Converse.

I've got both, and I prefer the PF Flyers hands down, but your mileage may very. They have pigskin leather lining, and a leather toe cap as well. And a New Balance-y insole which is very comfortable.

I've been fighting the urge to grab a second pair, but I probably will eventually.

However they are little less streamlined and possibly beefier but still quite a low profile shoe.

  13. Got a job in San Francisco so I'm moving in a couple of months. never really spent a ton of time in the city so I'm having an incredibly hard time trying to figure out the neighborhood where I want to live.

Was considering oakland but have no idea where there is a nightlife vs what is more quiet/residential. Have a couple of friends in the mission that seem to like it, but I really have no way to assess beyond visiting which isn't possible at the moment.

Can someone help point me in the right direction? I'm basically looking for a place with a few decent bars, <30 min commute to the city and possibly less concentration of tech people.

Where is your job? Depending on your answer, that will help pick a neighborhood.

  14. moved to this house a year and a half ago... This is the fourth place ive lived at in the city and its by far the cheapest and best housing Ive had. Including what i paid in daly city

Relatively speaking its far from anything the city is known for (other than candlestick, but you kno...), but I don't need/really want to be in the center of all the madness. If you move to SF to be IN the city, then it probably won't be your cup of tea. I am not one of those people

Dude I feel you, and when I first moved here, I moved to the Mission, but now I live near SF State. So I give zero fucks about being IN the city. There isn't anything so far out of the way from anywhere, more or less, that is a barrier to going to something I want to. Compared to other cities, anything here is convenient. All I want is the possibility for a small backyard so my dog can lay outside (pets seem to be the issue for a lot of landlords these days).

  15. I really try to get into the spirit of what jeans were made for in the first place. I don't worry about combs shifting. If they are unsanforized, I soak them. If the are sanforized, I don't. I get my jeans hemmed about 2 inches longer than I need, wear them, and wash them on cold when dirty. Hang dry. Everything seems to work out okay when I do that.

Which is not to say I don't understand the handwringing about combs shifting - I just try to embrace the shift.
