  1. It's really funny how many people criticize kiya and self edge on here. Especially over that interview. I dare any one of you to try doing what he does every day and seeing if you can handle that. More than that, try traveling as much as he does, and really look at all the bullshit fashion you see. I travel maybe 1/3 the amount he does and I can tell you red wings and khakis are for the #menswear crowd. Just like High water pants and boat shoes. Maybe all of you should try to create trends, instead of just following them. I'm sure you get plenty of info from inventory or some shit, travel instead of being on the Internet.

Btw, new IH jeans look great. If I was into heavy denim I'd have a pair man. I'll see you in Cali soon, I'm sure.

SIgh. Look, no one, least of all me, is critizing Kiya. Having a different opinion, and commenting on a differing opinion, is not being critical of Kiya the person. He's done fantastic things, and I've enjoyed every email I've gotten from Selfedge showing me shiny new denim, each email making me feel poorer than the one before it.

As for "daring" us, well, that's just posturing nonsense. I can't be president, or a professional baseball player either, but it's certainly well within my rights to critique what I see and read. I'm sure Kiya doesn't take it personally.

The fact is, whatever your opinion of redwings and khakis, denimheads are perceived as fashion to the world beyond these forum's walls as well. This argument basically boils down to a bunch of hipsters decrying "hipsters". Who cares?

I think denim is awesome, I always have, I think redwings are awesome, I always have, and the best you can really say about any of it is it undoubtedly has far deeper vintage roots than the average fat fuck lumbering out of Wallmart in sweatpants.

So rock on, Kiya, keep making me feel poor with pictures of beautiful denim, and you hipsters, get off my lawn!

  3. yeaaa! i had it on halloween (thats sort of like a special occasion) and could not believe it was like 140 proof. That shit is smoooooth.

Yeah, for sure. The smoothness is deadly, because more than one glass seems like a good idea.

  4. Sup y'all's. In town over new years. Need recommendations for bars. With my girl. We got some places were gonna do for 1 or 2 fancy meals but we need some good street food/lower mid price easy but delicious joints. Food is usually what we nerd out on most while traveling. Just to give you an idea of what were looking for, last nye we went to new York and hit del posto, Balthazar, momofuku, Katz, and some Mexican brunch spot I don't remeber the name of.

Shopping for mens and womens recs would also be appreciated.

Probly gonna book a BNB in wicker park unless I hear a better idea.

    Any leads?

Check out http://longmanandeagle.com/ ? Good whiskey list - and you can sleep there. Brunch is supposed to be good.

  5. oban in a rob roy is amazing. Anyone here try george t. stagg?

Yep! I have a bottle (about 80% empty now) of it. It was a Christmas present 2009 from my Brother in Law. I only drink it on special occasions. I love Stagg, but it's too rare to drink everyday.

  6. That absolutely nuts (in a great way) that they're offering the ranch blouse in so many denims. I'd be interested in seeing measurements at some point, because jackets like that are usually much too short on me.

    Speedway jeans look great, flatpattern.

I have the same fit issue with Type II -esque jackets (and obviously Type I ish jackets).

But it looks so rad I'll hold out hope...

  7. I have to say I'm really liking the new photo style they're using. This one has an old 40's pulp magazine look to it. And no, I don't mean the clothing style... I'm talNOSking about the image.

And is MF coming out with house slippers now?

Made from NOS houses no less!

  8. Watched How to Make It in America last night for the first time in ages. The main character was wearing a black breezer. I couldn't tell if it was the Midnight version. I noticed the red buttons and plaid detailing on the collar. Based on the wardrobe for the show I having a feeling this was purchased from J Crew. Nice to see that jacket getting some love.

Yeah I think he's worn it the last two episodes. Pretty cool.

  9. Surely you meant to say the waist is at 36 inches, not 26. If they really shrunk 8 inches from tagged size, you must share what happened.

That is correct. I was hungover when I posted, though, thankfully, not when I measured.

  10. Hey, it's a weight loss thread! I'm selling these because I too, lost weight. KMW 1980, marked 34/34 - made when they were still using the red/blue selvedge not the big wide goofy selvedge.

    Measurements:

    Waist: 36 inches

    Inseam: 33.25 inches

  11. These are the 505s I'm selling, and as you can see by the measurements, they did shrink, a little anyhow. LVC 1967 505 from, I believe, season 2007 (See label). Size 36/34.

    Measurements:

    Waist: 35 inches

    Inseam: 33.5
