Another one today. My buddy blew out the buttonhole on a pair of vintage 501s. I don't usually fix shit for people unless they're family/partner and/or it's simple or seems fun. This one seemed fun so I took him up on it. I decided the best solution was to cut off that section of waistband and sew on an extension in its place. Had to unpick a belt loop too so I re-bartacked it. I'm pleased with the results!

That's the same denim I used on my pair of jeans I made myself. It fades slow but it's nice. Lends itself well to vintage fades. Edit: here's what the denim looks like after a few months and frequent washing

Some before and after shots of some more bag repairs for my girlfriend. She's in a wheelchair so she hangs them off the back and they get caught on things regularly. Since it's a power chair she sometimes doesn't realize a bag is caught till it's torn. The leather bag was super quick, just popped a couple rivets. Had to add a third to reposition an interior pocket since it was too many layers for the rivets I had on hand. The green canvas one has leather straps which had torn at three places. I had to be careful while sewing the straps back in place to make sure the needle went into the pre-poked holes. Added a box stitch too for added security, and popped in some more rivets to complete the look. Hopefully if I have to stitch this one back up again it's the fourth strap end that wasn't already torn that fails. The black canvas one had a huge tear which I darned. Had to unpick the stitches holding the strap down to be able to darn underneath, then sewed the strap back.

Here's a nice thing that came in the mail yesterday. Looking forward to building it up. Chromag Darco. Pardon the flashlight-lit pictures, northeast ohio had a wicked storm Tuesday, and we are one of >300,000 customers who lost power.

People get so scared of marbling their jeans in the wash, but it always looks so cool when they do get marbled. Good shit.

SUPERDENIM SMALL QUESTIONS THREAD (Use instead of making new threads)
rbeck replied to minya's topic in superdenim
I got an email invoice for renewing my Sufu subscription but wherever I put in my username and password into the pop-up box it just resets the fields and leaves me in the same spot. @superfuture any idea what's going on? Same thing happens on mobile and PC. -
I've had this Old Navy shirt for like 9 years now, longer than I've been interested in raw denim. It was just a cool shirt that fit me well, and has treated me well this whole time. The second to last picture shows what the fabric started out like where the placket has frayed and opened up. I've had to repair both elbows which I did with a fun floral fabric I had on hand.

Been eyeing these Crocketts ever since Vans did an all canvas version. They're on sale now for a hefty discount so I had to get a pair. For those who don't know, Cee Blues is this guy's denim brand. He quickly became my favorite skater when I saw a clip of him in some wide leg selvedge jeans.

My brother and I did an enduro race yesterday in Tuscawaras County, Ohio. Had a lot of fun and made a couple new friends to ride with. Just got done with a ride with my dad this evening and my legs are toast lol.

Not jeans, but my girlfriend asked me to fix some of her grocery bags and a t-shirt. I don't know if the bags will hold, but it was worth a shot. Only time will tell. As for the shirt, she's gonna have to live with the purple since I didn't feel like threading any white thread onto my serger lol.

Vintage trucker cap Vintage University of Akron tee Eddie Bauer, hemmed to shorts éS Pictures don't do it justice but the silver ink on this tee looks great in the sun.

About 3 months of wear on my pair. Washed and tumble dried them probably 5 or 6 times. I think this fabric really lends itself to the heavily marbled look. The subtle slub is nice too. I really like what's going on with the back left pocket. The fly closeup is the most accurate for the shade of black that they're at.

Today is his birthday so my brother finally got to see and try on the jeans. He said it's the best gift I've given him yet. I learned a couple weeks ago how a yoke is actually supposed to work, so there's a bit of bunching on the yoke that I wish they didn't have, but he doesn't care. I treated it like a single dart on the center back seam and did not put a curve in the pattern where it attached to the back panels. Lesson learned, and it also explains why the yoke on my pair is a little off too. Next pair will be better, and I'm already thinking about what I wanna do. He thinks the flaws are charming though, so he's happy. (Dorky shirt tuck was just to show the fit of the jeans)

@smoothsailor Looks like you brazed it--from what I understand that's at least the most straightforward since you don't need any welding setup, is that accurate or does brazing have its own complications? It's always been something in the back of my head too. Anything I'm passionate about I start to wonder if I could make my own, but the margin for error on a mountain bike frame could be a lot more catastrophic.

Wow that's so sick! How'd you get into frame building?
