Not what I was referring to

So I'm the bad guy because I'm letting people know that I was treated poorly buy a guy who runs a brand and was lied to? Right... That makes complete sense. Your logic could not be more sound.

I collect knives, and popular knifemakers have a long lead time. Rule of thumb is: never pay a large deposit. I'd say 10% to show you're serious is the max I would advocate. There is no reason for a well run business to ask for a material deposit before they start incurring costs.

I think that it is fair to say that the wait times not being accurately told as well as asking for a full deposit is not the best idea for him. Also, I think that the denim being a second job would make sense, but if that's true we can definitely add being lied to as another issue I have with him.

How were you treated so poorly?

Ignored, had questions dodged, trashed on another forum by Ryan himself when I said I was unhappy with the customer service and wait to. I have been contacted privately by 5 different people saying they had bad experiences with him.

Don't hold yer breath mate. I'm at 14 months, and still waiting.

Yup. I finally got my jacket and jeans and am selling them due to the wait and poor communication. I just don't want to wear them.

@Cornelius_ Please message it if you wouldn’t mind

I was able to get in touch with him and he is mailing out the pair next week. I am having a hard time believing this is real. He said he was getting a bunch of people pretending to be me to try to snag them. Thanks again for everyone who gave me the heads up. Happy new year to everyone except my imposters.

That's a shame. I actually thought it was a joke. Glad you contacted him.

  6. Wrote a review of the Studio D Suvin Gold sweat recently, so I took a few pics. It's so damn comfy.

Kyle at Bakers originally tried to persuade me into doing the Wesco engineers when the Whites Nomads didn't pan out due to White's not having a last for my size.   But I don't feel too bad about turning it down for my current SJs.

Honestly, Wesco's choices got too confusing (and expensive) and I gave up on it. It wasn't as simple as doing the Nomads IMO.

I still need a engineer boot though, and following Wesco Japan on Instagram is making matters worse. :(

That's why I just went for the makeup that someone else did with these. They aren't custom, they're just a future release.

With Wesco, it seems like you get better details and leather out of it that way anyway. The custom route doesn't give you the best leather options IMO.

Oh interesting, I didn't realize that they were the olive waxed.
I saw the photos on Instagram of the worn pair and I don't know if I'm quite sold on the bright green undertones on the high wear areas, I thought they were just a brown or black waxed flesh. Still very nice boots, great profile. I think I'll get a pair of Wesco engineers for my next pair, solid construction and great price point.
And I know what you mean, a lot of dress shoes I've seen in offices are terrible! I'm wearing my Alden shell cordovan cap toe boots tomorrow, but I'm not quite sure what the dress code is like. I'm hoping that since the office is based here in Austin it'll be a more relaxed environment.

If cowboy boots are ok, then engineers are fine!

I love the avocado undertones, but you could easily just polish it with brown or black polish and be totally fine.

Those engineers are great, is that a collaboration that S&S are releasing soon or just a custom makeup for you?
I'm interested in a pair, if I land this new job I'm interviewing with I might have to treat myself.
Assuming I can wear engineers at said job...if not it's a deal breaker.

This is the upcoming Standard and Strange collab! As soon as I saw the olive leather and brown vibram soles, I had to have them!

Depending on the situation, I wear engineers to work myself. Keep in mind that most men in offices wear truly wretched looking shoes that pass for dress shoes, so engineers look like bad ass dress shoes in comparison, unless you're a lawyer. You probably can't wear them in a law office :P

  10. This past weekend I went to visit my sister's school (Cal) and my dad's alma mater (Stanford) to see 'The Big Game' aka the lamest rivalry game name of all time.

Cal's campus was OK, but the bell tower was pretty cool and had an incredible view.

We then went to Stanford which is by far the most beautiful college/university campus I have ever seen and I have seen quite a few, hence the triple post.

The game against Cal was lame, but at least Stanford's band was as hilarious as I was hoping they would be.
