  1. I’d have to check if I have ready access to it, but overdyed indigo chambray is like so:

Here’s the 5 oz selvedge blue indigo chambray I used for the Heracles shirt:

Here is the wabash I used for my scarves:

I think a zipper-front pullover would look good in hickory stripe and it’s also a period-correct fabric choice:

I have 4 different fleeces, two by Realthing (a Chinese brand that actually makes good stuff) and two vintage synchilla ones by Patagonia. I love the look and how they match with denim actually. To not mention they're super comfy. Surely it's not a piece of garment that will look better with wear. The 80s Patagonia ones still look fine now though,

haha yeah you feel you're trying hard the urban hiker look? I guess you feel you're trying less hard when wearing that vintage hat you posted in the hats thread :D:D:D

That hat is an artisanal piece of superlative quality, don’t compare it to ye peasant garments of function over form.

  3. @bartlebyyphonics 20-inch shoulders (50 cm) would be my XXL. :)

People are mentioning indigo fabric; do you mean blue chambray? There is an overdyed indigo chambray (like wabash sans the patterns) but it’s expensive, same goes for discharge-dyed wabash.

Tuckability is no worries; the Atlas was a bit short but Heracles 2 will be longer and that will be the standard length going forward!

  4. I remember Uniqlo trying to push the fleece-as-fashion thing about 4 or 5 years ago. They even had ads in store with Flea wearing fleece IIRC. My girlfriend got me one as a gift, though it’s certainly toned down compared to the Patagonia style.

I just wear it around the house and to walk the dog at night, not sure I would go out into public proper wearing it though.

  5. Seems to be runway trend inspired:

    https://www.elle.com/fashion/g28859145/fleece-jacket-fall-trend/

"Alongside PSLs and leggings, a fleece jacket used to be a key part of the Basic Student starter pack. Now, the fashion industry is claiming it as its own. Indie designer Sandy Liang was the first to adopt the look back in 2015 with her Insta-famous outerwear, but the trend is peaking. Philip Lim, Fendi, and other top designers elevated the jacket for the Fall ‘19 runway, literally putting the ‘camp’ in ‘campy.’"

    https://www.google.com.tw/amp/s/amp.businessinsider.com/patagonia-north-face-win-urban-hiker-trend-2019-2

"It's not your imagination — fleeces and high-performance jackets are everywhere right now. And according to fashion search platform Lyst, it's because the "urban hiker" style is in vogue.

Earlier this month, Lyst released its latest ranking of fashion's "hottest brands and products." The North Face and Patagonia came in second and third place, respectively, on the menswear list, beating out Versace, Fendi, and Givenchy. The two items featured were The North Face's Nuptse puffer jacket and Patagonia's Retro-X fleece.

Patagonia and The North Face have experienced explosive success in recent years, as these brands sit at the intersection of outerwear, normcore, and streetwear. The latter two are prominent trends in fashion at the moment."

  6. @bartlebyyphonics I have been considering a zipper-front pullover for a while since I started to get into Bug Yank/Reliance Mfg as, AFAIK, they were the first to introduce one in 1930 with the Zipper Ace cigarette pocket model:

A non-cig version would be nice too, for the more OCD-inclined:

Here here to the shirt idea (with tuckable length)

@Iron Horse maybe something to think about... 40s detailing being the emerging theme.

I could do make a shirt such as the Atlas but in 5 oz Japanese selvedge chambray, but the minimum order from sewing is generally 100, so it wouldn’t be exclusive to sufu. Not sure how you’d feel about that.

Alternately I am opening pre-orders on the Heracles 2 in that chambray fabric (3 colors: blue, red, and white) in the near future, perhaps the blue version could be the contest shirt?

I have a number of bandanas - all received as gifts and very nice - but have no clue what to do with any of them!

    - classic headwear a la Steven Tyler/Axl Rose/Keith Richards and err... Captain Jack Sparrow
    - headwear with a twist like Tupac

    - neckwear “David Essex gypsy”

    - back pocket handkerchief code

So many choices, yet none of them seem the right one...

Back pocket is the correct answer; nobody does the kerchief code anymore or knows what it means. :P

Also, interesting to see the whirling log make more strides into polite society again.

Someone is going to order these online and not be able to fit their feet through the hem. It’s happened a few times over on the raw denim reddit when people taper their jeans so much they don’t account for their feet getting in the jeans.

    Peak 2019.
