The OrSlow is a great everyday shirt. Very soft and comfortable. I wear a size 4 and it fits perfectly — XL in most Japanese clothing and L in American/western shirts.

The bluer XX20 is described as a 'medium shade that after aging has something closer to a natural indigo look'.
The grayer 'XUVS denim has a darker shade and is close to the color of the ROY proprietary denim in color.'
Yet to my (lousy) eyes, the XX20 looks darker than the XUVS -- am I missing something?

^ can't resist either. Dry Bones/Self Edge/Sufu collab jeans from years back -- very heavy, dark, two patches, size 36, fairly skinny, high rise cut. Cheaper than dirt.

^ I agree goodrain. If he did make KS again (or something similar), I could size the waist up, knowing that the hips and thighs would still be pretty trim and linear. With R01, I hesitate to size the waist up too much, due to the width of the upper leg. It's an aging muffin top issue on my part, admittedly ;-)

^ 35, right b_F? They look great on you.

Thanks Tilmann -- the jeans look great, as do the red shoes and shirt!

Does anyone know if the R01 cut has changed or been tweaked at all over its various iterations? I ask because I bought an early version of the R01 (cloth patch) which is quite full through the upper leg, especially relative to the waist and hem. I'm a big-thighed guy and while I find the fit very comfortable, I'm not sure it's the most flattering cut ... for me. I'm specifically wondering if the measurements from the top block to the knee have changed, since this is my only area of concern.

Denim parallels my other hobbies (film photog, folding knives, mech. watches, fountain pens) in that I start innocently and end up going too far. I used to buy cheap Levi's 505s from JC Penney. Thinking the fit too relaxed, I went into the Levi's store in San Francisco years ago and met a tailor (Melissa Vu) who made them fit perfectly.
So then I started looking for the 'perfect' pair off the rack, which led me on a circuitous path, starting locally (Self Edge), nationally (BIG), to Japan (Ooe and Kaizoku), and back (Standard & Strange and back to Self Edge for the annual Roy fix). Curiosity and impatience drive me more than perfect fades, so I'll never have the latter. I've bought a bunch and sold a bunch. But even now, there might be a pair sitting on the to-sell stack that all of sudden gets my attention. Maybe I should try that pair of Samurai 500-OG, IH-555-UHR, or B01 Beatle Buster again. Like an old joke told to an Alzheimer's patient, they look new again to my old eyes.
Bottom line, I have no rotation at all, other than to pick a pair from the rack based on the urge to try something I haven't worn for a while. Usually there are 5-7 pairs that I've already worn over the course of the month, but that won't stop me from grabbing something that's been in hiding for over a year.

^ Thanks Shorty Long. 14.5 oz sounds right for the KS1002. Didn't realize the KS1001 denim was only 12.5 oz.

Rancourt sizing can be tricky because the lasts vary. I find the Beefroll Penny Loafer and Baxter Ranger Moc to run bigger and wider, while the Classic Ranger Moc and Read Boat Shoe are on the same last -- a little smaller and trimmer.

Broark, I have a pair of Rancourt CXL penny loafers. They're a solid, easy on-off shoe. Compared to more expensive preppy classics like the Alden shell cordovan or JM Weston 180, they're more casual, as you know. However, if I'm going to wear a penny loafer (which isn't often), I prefer the latter two, as the Rancourt is neither here nor there to my eye. But it is one of their most popular shoes.
There is a Rancourt shoe I wear all the time and would buy again. It's the Classic Ranger Moc in natural CXL. Unfortunately, the natural CXL/red sole combination isn't included in the crowdfunded offerings, but it's a great shoe in any layout -- fits like a slipper but has more support and stays on. Runs true to size.

^ What denim was used in KS1002? A little heavier than that of KS1001 ...

Mister Freedom sizing varies widely. The Belleville runs big. Mine is a 40, yet my MF shirts are XXL, albeit slightly large. 42 in the Mac (which I have) and Mattock (which I don’t). Belleville does look different from Ooe, but similar layout and weight.

Anyone other than Broark have the Ooe railroad jacket? Love it but on the fence since I recently picked up the Mister Freedom Mocha Belleville.

^ I’m past middle age and due for a crisis. Maybe time to sell the 2001 325i and buy back my first car — a red Fiat Sport Coupe from 1973.

As an old man (65) who has witnessed a few disagreements, I gotta say we're making something outta nuthin here. We can all agree that Ed is controversial. I'm guessing he'd smile and admit to that. Maybe he just tipped over a line he's been straddling for years, and got his hand slapped. Some feel this was overdue and some feel there was a little piling on, for behavior that hasn't changed much. While I'm inclined to let all voices be heard, including annoying ones with crude jokes, I can see both sides.
501XX, I hear what you're saying, welcome your willingness to buck the trend (it ain't easy), and even agree that Ed's entertainment value may exceed his rudeness. But, in all honesty, you seem to be sabotaging your own point by suggesting that Volvo has evil intent here. First, have you ever known a Volvo driver with evil intent? Second, is what we do here a zero sum game, where if Ed and Warehouse have a contest, Volvo and TCB can't? Maybe for dedicated one-pair-of-jeans-a-year guys, this poses a problem. But for the truly addicted, the opportunity and excuse to add another pair is not a bad outcome.
Anyway, the point is that it's OK to have different opinions. A little disagreement isn't a bad thing. Everyone's points are valid on this one and we all have our own, unique experiences to draw from when it comes to Ed, or anything else for that matter. The forum is more fun when there's some spice and less fun when it gets too hot and personal.
I think we can all get past this one. Maybe Ed will undergo sensitivity training or find his Zen mind and all will be well. OK, that's going too far, I know ;-)

no it won't!
we were thinking to stencil numbers on the pocket bags but still not decided either
if we ever go that way I will need your help and collaboration to track down your order no matched to your sufu account name matcher to your contest number.Seen the numbers it may turn out in a massive headache too!
Good volvo! I'm ok with #69 for now, but don't need it on the pocket bags or (even worse) a big 6 on one back pocket and 9 on the other!

Yikes, with Ed out, I’m #69. Will that be emblazoned on the patch?

I agree Volvo. Please tell Ed it's not for sale ;-)

Here are the measurements on my size 4 OrSlow chambray. I have a 43" chest and the 4 fits well -- on the trim side but excellent. The 5 would also work for me (I'm 6'0", 180 pounds) but the sleeves would probably be too long and the shoulders a little big. The chest is often the challenge with Japanese clothing on western bodies and it's where I need the most room. But that's why I like the size 4 OrSlow -- it's roomy enough without being too big elsewhere. If your chest is more than 43", then go size 5. If 43" or less, the 4 should be fine.
Chest 45"
Sleeves 25"
Shoulder 18.75"
Length 30"
