incoming... fingers crossed they fit and I like them... update may follow...
I ordered and received a pair of JL Black Cats M-43 from S&S. Unfortunately, they do not fit. Far too narrow. I thought they'd be a bit wider than they are, being made on the Munson last. I have JL Devil's Causeway engineer boots in 9 1/2, and they fit well. Just a little narrow in width and little long in length.
As of February 01 2022, S&S changed their return policy. They no longer offer refunds, only exchanges and store credit. I'm working on an exchange with them.
In the meantime, if anyone is interested in purchasing them, DM me.

@goodrain That's what I find strange: I know it's supposed to be a modern slim straight fit, but it doesn't feel like that. Maybe it's because I sized up to a 36. I'm usually a 34, sometimes a 33. This size feels like a relaxed straight fit on me.

I watched Riveted last night. I found it to be a really good documentary, and enjoyed it very much. It goes far back into the history of indigo dying, and possible origins of denim fabric. Doesn't say anything about the JP denim scene, so I do think that's a big miss.

My first pair of WH jeans. 800XX, size 36. With so much WH love, I had FoMo. Ordered from Hinoya last Sunday, shipped FedEx and arrived in CO on Wednesday. Crazy fast shipping!
I took everyone's advice and sized up. I find them a bit big, but a 34 would have been snug. They feel a lot bigger than they look in pics. They came one-wash. I washed and dried them to get any additional shrink out. After 3 days wear, they've stretched out. So, maybe a 34 would have been ok? The denim was rough at first, but softened a lot. Honestly, I'm kinda underwhelmed. I knew they are basic details, repro cut of some sort. Just different from what I've become accustomed to. I find the cut strange - small in the waist and wide in the hips. Reminds me of what folks used to say about Samurai S510 having saddle bags. The S510 in size 34 fits me a lot better.

@chicote Good for you for getting a pair of TFH engineer boots. They're gorgeous! I've tried on a pair, and they didn't fit me at all. Wear them well and enjoy.
JL's suite my foot much better, even tho they are nearly impossible to get on.

i can do that for you tomorrow i have a size 34 here with me what kind of process you want ? machine and hang dry? tub soak and hang dry? you want hot water? hottest on tap?
For new raw denim, I normally hot machine wash, inside out, and then a 20 minute hot dryer run, so that they are still damp, then hang until dry. I don't turn them right-side out until completely dry. This usually get most of the shrink out, and doesn't leave any crease fades.
I'd be looking for a finished hem length of 33" +/-. This gives me enough length to cuff when I want to. Mostly I wear my jeans with slouchy stacks that are too long in length, but don't care. I suspect there's about 2 1/2" of shrink in length on these? I'd want to get them hemmed before washing, so I can still get good roping on the hem with the first wash. So prolly hemmed at 35.5"?

according to the size chart in inches, I might be a 33. But I've had too many jeans that are too tight, and I'd rather err on the side of too big.
I find that saying the jeans will shrink 8% overall is inaccurate. Denim shrinks differently in length vs. width of the weave. The waist band and leg length - length - will shrink more percentage wise than the width of the hips, thigh, knee, and hem - width.
Are you / can you do a shrink test on one pair and post the results?
Are the jeans being made to order, based on how many orders are received?

post a chart here of other westerners that use inches. I'm good, thanks

@Signet I have a Convert app that I use to convert CM to inches. It just easier to see a complete table with inches for all of the measurements at once.
Currently I'm wearing Samurai S510 in size 34 and RJBxRH RFR-004 in size 34. Also IH 634S-18 in size 34. IHxSE 633-XHS in size 33 is too tight in the thighs. I'd get a pair of your Warehouse jeans in a 34.

^ I believe his intention was to be inspired by the look in the pic, not to try to equal it.

I'm interested... don't have any WH jeans, been wanting a pair. But the price seems a bit high for what they are.
@Signet Do you have a size chart in inches? If one wash is chosen, how much more shrinkage is expected?

what's sizing for the 800XX? I've seen some descriptions to size up 1-2 sizes. Size charts for 1 wash/rinsed seem like the waist runs a little small. I usually wear a 34 in most brands/cuts. Sizing up to a 36 to get the waist seems like it would be big everywhere else.

Happy New Year!Y’all remember the leather wallet chain trend on here? What happened to it?
I've never been one for accessories, jewelry, etc. I picked up TFH Wild Child wallet f/ SE last year, and it has a ring on it. So I thought I'd get a wallet chain/leash. Couldn't find one from TFH at the time, so I found Treeworks Leather on Etsy and bought a veg tan leather braided wallet chain. Great quality for the price. About 6 months of continual use. The natural veg tan leather is picking up indigo from my jeans. I never thought I'd like such a thing, but I like it a lot! I get lots of compliments on it. But I think many people (I live in the very rural end of a ski resort valley in Rockies of Colorado) look at me with a braided leather rope with tassels hanging off my belt loop and back pocket, and they don't know what to think...
The wallet is awesome. A thing of leather craft beauty. It's big and bulky, and I hardly carry anything in it - a few cards and a some cash. I could find a slimmer wallet, but why?
I saw on 2nd that they are carrying TFH new leather braided wallet chains - WOW! do they look awesome.

I had forgotten about this. I'm surprised it hasn't made the rounds 'round here. This is how I discovered RT n the 44's.

Re: cutz, I've settled on what I'm going to call a mid-rise relaxed straight cut. For a size 34, front rise around 10.75", upper thigh around 12.75", knee around 9.0" and hem around 8.0" (all measurements +/- 0.25"). The straight cuts that seem to be most popular around here with a leg opening of around 9" is too wide for. The tapered cuts that have become popular elsewhere and seem to be all the rage are far too narrow.
I've been through many pairs over the years that I just had to have. Then the fit didn't work and sold them. Now that I think I have my preferred fit dialed in, I'm starting to look for this cut, regardless of brand. I do have a fondness for some brands, especially TFH. It's actually quite surprising to me how few models there are with this description. I've come across some older stock at some sites. And looking at the denim and cut, even from a few short years ago, makes me realize how much the trend in denim has changed, and how brands are making newer cut and denims to meet consumer demand. i.e. super slubby, high-rise, relaxed tapered cuts. Yuck.

I have a Bialetti moka pot for my induction range. Works great, worth the investment when I got the new range. It makes a good cup, quick easy to clean. I grind enough beans for a week or so in an electric whirl grinder. I grid enough for a week or so at a time. I don't weigh grinds or water. Kinda hack, but it's simple and quick and I get consistent results. I also have a Nespresso machine w/ steamer wand. So quick and easy, decent result for what it is.
I've always really loved coffee, and especially espresso, and want to up my game. I've recent gone down coffee rabbit hole watching a lot of James Hoffman's videos. Looking into getting a real machine + burr grinder. The question I'm wrastling with is do I get a Breville Barista Pro, which is good quality consumer appliance that has a good reputation, or step up to a pro-sumer level machine + grinder for more than twice the cost. Would the results be that much better? Possibly, probably once I get dialed in.
