  1. Reminds me of one of my friends in journalism school, who was editor of the "arts & culture" section ... for his weekly article he decided to ride his bike around our town and have a drink at all 8 bars that existed there at the time; he expected to get quite drunk doing so but didn't expect to run into several friends at the first spot, who of course bought him a few rounds to get started, then got other friends to meet him at the other bars & follow suit... I don't remember whether he ended up making it back that night or passed out in a ditch somewhere, and no sense asking him cause he probably doesn't either!

  2. Yes you’re right, in real life you can see the pale blue showing beneath the upper layer of fibers — doesn’t seem to come through in the photo much at all unfortunately, it’s one of the most mesmerizing things to me about this fabric. Thanks for the info William!

  3. @Broark those are really cool!! I am after something a little more conventional but i'd love to see pics of those if you end up getting them.

@yung_flynn those Randy's trousers are great, i'll look for those in my size elsewhere online, that's about the closest i've seen so far to what i'm looking for...

Honestly seeing the variety of results from you all here is kind of vindicating me, i was feeling really dumb for not being able to find what seems ( to me ) to be such a timeless-seeming, classic-fitting pair of pants anywhere, and as this page shows there are any number of options that are very close in some ways, a little off in others... just very strange that it's been so hard to track down. But I am considering a few options (Buzz x William Gibson, Nuu, Randy's are the closest -- thanks you guys) and will maybe end up ordering a couple of them to compare. I appreciate all the help!

To be honest the entire reason I even want these is because i've been haunted by a man I saw walking on the side of the road while riding my motorcycle back through northern Sinaloa... he was dressed in some worn-out black work pants and boots, and a brownish-reddish work shirt; I just rode past him in an instant, we had no interaction, but for some reason his outfit was so memorable to me; I had spent seven months without buying, or even being tempted by, a single garment, but in that moment I had this mad desire for a pair of pants like that and have been slowly hunting for them ever since.

@chicote I like these by Nuu, the artist formerly kniwn as tatsunosuke or Woods Mountain

Oh man those are great! Thank you Michael! I'm not sure whether he ships internationally but will try and figure that out. Really appreciate it!

@okimoto I'm open to duck canvas for sure, if the cut is right. I have about 8 yards of vintage black Carhartt fabric that I thought about using to make myself some pants if all else failed. If you have anything ready-made you know of i'd love to see though!

@Double 0 Soul those tuf-nuts are really nice, definitely check all the boxes except for the poly blend ... i am a proud cotton-lover through and through ...

  5. I had an N-1 and wore it while working construction a couple of winters ago. As others have mentioned, it was warm while standing still but absolutely awful to wear while working, and even worse when it got humid or rainy (of which it is both very often in seattle) to the point I said f**k it and gave it someone camping in the city one night. Probably much better suited for their use than mine!

edit: also, I’ve asked this before but am still having a hard time finding anything. I’m looking for a 100% cotton, black work pant with a high rise and somewhat well-fitting leg. The sugar cane mountain cloth work pants are basically perfect except they only come in navy. Anyone have any other recommendations??

Get the measurements for us after you get it 👀

Check the links on the earlier posts, I bet there are measurements on those sites! I am a size 29-30 so those size 32s are big for me unfortunately.
