  1. the last is the wooden or plastic/composite foot shape the boots are built around. Different lasts are shaped differently, thus resulting in a different fit. Whites are not cheap, but they are sturdy, extremely well made and will last through the apocalypse. The arch can take some getting used to but once the boot breaks in, they are the most comfortable boot you will wear. Red Wings are nice,I have a pair myself, but Whites are like 3 steps above in terms of construction and materials. They are closer to $400 however, but some red wings are pushing close to $300.

If you are in New York, there are a few places that stock White's. Go try them on, get the sizing down and order from Baker Boots or Whites directly, as most places that stock White's mark them up by $200

  2. not a flaw. its just the way it is. When the last is removed from the boot (are Timberlands even lasted?) the boot basically constricts a bit. Its normal. I would recommend Red Wing. I would really recommend saving your money and getting some White's built. Every time I handle the Wolverine 1000 mile, I am reminded why I will never buy this boot in my life. Just my opinion though, many are happy with it. I think the quality of construction to price ratio is fucked however.

  3. Hoping someone can address this. Basically, Im picky as hell, and the quality of stitching on my Tanner wallet is less than acceptable to me. I have since stopped using it and moved on. Im just curious as to why the stitching in the lower corner goes to shit?

  4. Ive been rocking mine hard since purchase. Great cut. At first I was concerned that they were too loose in the seat area, but I actually prefer that now. They are fitted, but not ball busting. The denim is interesting as well. Very curious how it will look 1 year deep in wear time.

  5. Strike Gold sweatshirt. Fit is spot on, although im kinda paranoid about the shrinkage. Even if it shrinks as stated, it will be ok, but Im just paranoid for no good reason, other than to be paranoid about something. The biceps area looks baggier than it really is. I think how it was folded is causing the silhouette to be a bit distorted in pics.

  6. Any thoughts on Corter Belts vs Hallows Leather Belts? I'm considering buying a natural belt from one of them. I think they both use saddle leather.

Corter is a little cheaper, has a keeper loop, but ships in 2 to 4 weeks.

Hallows belts accepts returns, and apparently ships in 2 to 5 days, but are a little more expensive.

I was leaning towards Hallows, mostly due to shipping time. Are they similar quality belts?

I can only speak for Hollows, but its a great product. I was more than pleased, and the price in my opinion is a bargain.

  7. age and wear. you could periodically treat them with Obenauf's, but anything other than that will just be like getting jeans that are pre distressed, and thats just plain foolish. Be patient and wear th boots everywhere, doing everything.

Just ordered a pair of RW 875. What is best for bringing out that wonderful orangish color that comes through with wear? Like these for example... (i am correct in assuming these are "oro-igional" leather right?)

  8. 10D Whites semi dress last

    10D RW Iron Rangers

    10.5D RW 3141 chukka

    10.5 Nike Free/New Balance 993

    9.5D Alden barrie last

9.5D Oak Street Bootmakers (have 10's, so I am assuming a 9.5 would be the proper fit as the 10's are just too big)

edit** I managed to trade my size 10 Oak Streets for a size 9.5. The 9.5 fit is much, much better.
