  1. most jeans often continue to shrink throughout their life cycle, & flat head are one of those brands where the first soak doesn't remove all shrinkage. they look a little loose in the seat and another hot soak could help with that. it's your choice obviously but if they were mine i'd do it again.

  2. what's the consensus on the average inseam shrinkage on ih's 18oz raw? i know self edge & ih-uk have their thoughts but wanted to hear from the people that bought them.

just want to make sure i hem at the right length pre-soak..

  3. cheers.

the boots aren't actually Red Wings. i was in Tokyo in February and no pair of Red Wings were the right size, seems their smallest is too big for me, so i got these instead - Hawkins. they're just knock-off's but they're proper leather, built solidly & were 70% cheaper than Red Wing's or Wolverine's.

  4. SOLD

For sale here are a pair of THE FLAT HEAD SE05BSP japanese selvedge jeans. They retail for US$370 and i'm letting them go for far less - US$205 inc shipping worldwide.

These jeans were bought direct from Self Edge and were re-hemmed to 32.75" leg. The re-hemming was done via a chainstitch.

I have had these for a while but they're just too small in the waist for me. I can get them on but they're just too uncomfortable so i'm letting them go. They've been worn less than 10 times & as such have no areas of fading yet. Have been soaked numerous times so all shrinkage should be accounted for.

    The measurements are as follows:

    Waist: 31.8"

    Thigh: 11"

    Inseam: 32.75"

    Leg Opening/Hem: 7.5"

  5. haven't owned a pair but have handled both in-store and wasn't particularly impressed, but that's just me. crotch blowouts are universal, regardless of brand - i've had them happen on some shit nudies, and had it happen on 21oz Iron hearts - it's just what happens. but given what i've seen of unbranded's in person, in this forum and in those sample shots, i'd be cautious about what kind of quality that pricepoint would bring, but again that's just me.

  6. i took my ih-301s to the local laundrette/dry cleaners for a very basic pocket-bag repair job, which i didn't have time to do myself, and they've subsequently 'lost them or given them to another customer.'

i'm dumbfounded by their ineptitude. i've had these for 2.5 years and are pretty much my benchmark as far as favourite cuts go.

my 301s have now been returned.

they gave them to the wrong customer, and spent 4-5 days calling everyone who'd collected clothing to see if they had a mystery pair of jeans.

    crisis averted.

  7. the shrinkage is minimal and nothing you need to be concerned about at all. the denim on ande's regular line is nice & forgiving so will stretch out exactly where it needs to in order to be comfortable. the waist on mine has stretched out about an inch beyond it's unsoaked state i think.

my general rule of thumb though for sanforized denim is half an inch shrinkage in the waist and less elsewhere. keeping in mind that you'll get this half an inch back, and more, without much fuss.

@ ukeno - how many times have you washed yours overall? they've got a nice hue to them.

  8. artisanal gets thrown around alot in the uk and it's become pretty meaningless. you can go to a street market and the guy that has a stall selling bread is an artisan, or the stall that sells homemade cupcakes & treats - you guessed it, they're artisans too.
