  1. just look up shoe wax on ebay & you'll find something. i got some g-wax that's good for anything leather. just rub it in with a cloth.

if you do a super hot wash it'll screw with the patch but otherwise it'll be fine without waxing. waxing just gives it a bit of extra protection, & some people like that. i never bother myself, just prefer to let them age naturally.

  2. i've bought 2 pairs of Flat Heads from SE and both have been significantly under the listed size - by about an inch. 1st pair i sent back, not cheap considering i live in Oz, and the 2nd pair i've managed to persevere with to get them to wearable point.

they can't measure every pair, it's just not feasible/possible. but those differences are frustrating considering the sums involved.

  3. dude, how many pairs of jeans have you bought recently? i'm all for getting my hands on good denim, but if you keep buying how are you going to put any wear into them?

seeing as you've probably seen the 3sixteen bsp's on Self Edge why don't you try reading the description..

  4. I tend to agree with Ande on the denim issue. The 13.5 denim he uses is one that will yield fantastic fade results if you put in the time and wear them for ages. I'd say it's true that they don't obviously have a lot of denim character when compared to other brands such as strike gold or flat head, but they were never meant to. I'm beginning to see with my own pair of cobras how they'll look in 6-8 months time, such as the pocket bag fadings etc, so whilst there isn't the inbetween wow that some people hope for in their Japanese denim, the end results will be worth it.

In regards to chainstitching, I guess it's a nice authentic detail to have but personally I don't give a shit either way. It's not like i'm going to walk around looking at my hems.... Years ago when I was in New York and bought a pair of Iron Hearts (301s), Andrew (store manager & 3sixteen owner) told me that a single stitched hem was actually a stronger & more secure way of hemming than the chain was and has far less chance of unravelling. It was just that enthusiasts wanted the old schools details that dictated what hems were used by manufacturers. I ended up re-hemming the 301s with a single stitch and it's never been an issue.

  5. if you're a tall skinny guy who likes skinny jeans then i don't see why the SK won't do you fine. the 6.25 hem on the sk once re-hemmed up a few inches would be more like 6.5 & i doubt that you'd really notice the difference. in regards to the stantons, the 28's look like they'd also suit you fine.

also keep in mind that other people's fits are very misleading and it's very hard to size by looking at other people as there are so many variables to take into account. in the end just go with your gut feeling, advice is fine & good but the only person who know's your body size is you...

failing that you can pm me for another option that might work for you.

  6. I live in Japan, I have to take my shoes off about once every ten minutes. It's not practical to tie my boots unless I'm walking long distances. Few people in Japan tie up their boots unless they're going for a motorcycle ride or something.

really? i've spent plenty of time in Japan over the years and haven't witnessed this shoelace dilemma.
