  1. Went to Pescadero Beach/Marsh today for a hike. There was a shit ton of drift wood washed up on all the beaches along the coast from all the recent storm activity. Some beautiful colors and textures to be found.

This one reminds me of either Cartman or the school kids from The Wall.

  2. Question:

I want to get a pair of heavy ounce denim. 17, 19, 21oz. I've got large thighs though. Any brands/styles that have 13 + inch thighs? 34 waist.

I have a pair of Nudies Ave. Joe Dry Reds that have stretched to about a 12.7 inch thigh. Small space between thigh and jean, but mostly too snug in that top block.

Samurai S510XX. It comes in 19oz and 21oz.

This, the 510 have a really nice cut, plenty of room but not too 'clown pant' looking. The 21 oz denim is amazing. I am a recent convert and I am loving it.

Sly edit: Cone denim is still my favorite though.

  3. This thread has me inspired to get some natural indigo. I have dyed a few items over the years. Never used real indigo though.

When I first came to the U.S. I dyed a pale blue Trucker jacket red because Levis didn't make one. I have also overdyed quite a few pairs of jeans with both more blue and black.

About ten years or so ago I wore a pair of regular STF 501's that I had overdyed with black all the time. A designer from Levis spotted them one night and asked what I had done and liked the results which was kinda flattering.

  4. Is it just me or does the leg opening on the 1878 look too tapered and narrow? Also, how are you supposed to keep them around your waist with no belt loops or suspender buttons (cinch's don't do that good a job). Do they come with that little box of add on buttons?

  5. yeah the S510XX21oz is a great pair. my pair is still very stiff and rigid. and they fade fast.

You're not kidding about them fading fast, they lose indigo at the slightest touch. Should be interesting because all the other jeans I have are of the stubborn variety.

  6. Thanks to user jwsach and supermarket I now own my first pair of truly heavyweight denim jeans. Some S510XX 21oz. Was surprised to feel just how much heavier they actually were but they are still very comfortable, as well as a perfect cut/fit. I'm going to have to adjust the rotation now to fit these in.

Will maybe take some photos later to post. Not that y'all don't know what they look like but it would start a record of their wear at least.

  7. ^Unionmade have had the $250 price tag for awhile now. At least 6 months or more so that might not mean that much. However if LVC does put anymore price increases in, then they could indeed see themselves passed over by quite a few folks.
