  1. Decided to give my 2105s a wash today.. I think they are around 6 months. Going to put my 3109s on the backburner so I can focus on getting these completely broken in.

Color on them is crazy nice as well. Similar to when I owned a pair of S500's.

  2. how soft are the 3109 since they are a left hand twill? the stitching looks so good on them.

I really don't know if I would call them 'soft', they're quite rough actually. My 2105s are ridiculously comfy though. In the past day the 3109's have softened up a bit though.

The 3xxx denim is similar to Samurai, maybe not as rough though. Probably closet feeling is when you first get Flatheads (but it's a completely different weight class).

  3. the 2xxx denim isn't slubby at all compared with the 1xxx denim

There's no slub in my 2105s. I lied though, the 3109s are a bit slubby, but not like PBJ. If I can get a good example I'll post it.

  4. No problem brotha, Ill be out there in May for like 2-3weeks.

Yeah you lose detail in her jeans.

Watermarking is always a debate between photographers, but in the end, it does you no good. If someone steals your image,. more power to them. Reason I say that, is it should be seen as a form of flattery. The person who stole the image is not going to make any profit on it unless they try to slap it on a t-shirt or some BS, but it doesnt happen that often, If you shot like alt-models with their tits out and shit, then yeah I can see the possibility of someone trying to print that, more.

Only other thing I will say, DONT POST PREVIEWS!!! Dont post any images until the whole set is done. Ive made that mistake so many times, and its always biting me in the ass. I say this because when you finally finish the set, and youve processed the very same image you posted a preview of-differently, that old "preview" image is still floating on the net.

Either way, you're definitely progressing, just keep at it man. I see you working new angles and pushing yourself, DO IT TO IT! I tend to blurt out advice only because I really didnt have anyone to offer the same for me. My way isnt necessarily the best approach, but take it with a grain of salt.

Sweet! Hit me up when you get here!

I hear you on watermarking. The only time I really ever watermark is if it goes up on FB or Model Mayhem, but I try to remember not to do it if I put it up on tumblr, flickr, etc..

You make a good point about previews... for previews I tend to just post the worst photo that I know wont be used and it always bites me in the ass (cause it's the worst photo, lol), I guess I just shouldn't post up previews then. But hell, just because your way might not be the same as someone elses doesn't mean I wont take it into account. Especially since I look up to your work (love how experiemental it is :D)!! I'm going to try and shoot a couple of times this week, but this time with models on MM (did some scouting for the agency ones :P).

  5. Thanks BF! Yes, the waist is too big, but it may be to my benefit especially when I gain weight in the upcoming year. Probably going to get a hem though, I'll hem it so I'll still have some stacks, but these are too much for me, lol!

  6. ^^ Perfect Jacob!

    Heh, thanks Riff!

ReAlly damn good on you laxlife :)

    Thanks man!

Awesome Lax! I'm sure tapered would look good as well, but this is a fit that you'll love well beyond your 20s.

:D If it lasts till then!! It's my new pair of school pants for the remainder of the year, lol!

  7. looks perfect in my book...and for the too big waist, a belt is always an option ;)

Thanks mate :) Actually... they were HUGE in the waist pre-wash, and they are still large enough to fit my fist. Luckily they're skinny enough that they wont fall down... oh and yeah, a belt always helps :P

    Tidy! Look good mate.

    Thanks!

^ Looks like a good fit from here. I'm liking those stacks on you too. I will looking forward to how these turn out

What shrinkage did you get if any? Do you have measurements pre/post soak?

My 2109's didn't shrink as i expected either. shrank only 1" inseam, everything else was virtually the same as pre soak. ( i soaked in hot water for an hour)

Thanks man. I am going to try out the stacks for a little, they're skinny enough where I don't think they look too sloppy. I'll see if I don't like them in a week. I'll do my best to get measurements for you. Overall they did shrink quite a bit, but for post-soak measurements check SE because there wasn't any need for me to measure them pre-soak.

    damn those 3109's look amazing

    Thanks!

    Perfect look Jacob!!

If you would wear them exactly this way, I'm pretty sure, you will receive awesome fading results on them!!

Hehe that's what I hope! They're very starchy right now so I think there will be some crisp fading. I'll be wearing them all summer in addition to all year throughout college!

  8. ^Thanks everyone.

Since you have both the 2109 and 3109, are they both slubby like the 1109? I'm guessing the 3109 isn't slubby but I don't know about the 2109, thanks! I'm jealous

    I can't answer that since I own the 2105 and 3109, not the 1109 ;)

The 3109 is more slubby than the 2105, but then again the 3109 aren't like PBJ's - there is definitely some slubbiness to them though.

My pictures aren't as nice as yours, but that number is similar to what PBJ does: It's the cut of the jeans. For example, my 1105s:

PBJ and SG are the only ones I know of so far that do this, but I'm sure there are more.

Ah gotcha! I thought mine was #9 from production and I felt excited, lol.

Here's post soak.. kinda man cause the waist does not fit, it's like an inch too big -_-. I knew I should've gone with the 29's like my 2105s.

    p1533547718-4.jpg

I'll either get them hemmed tomorrow or sometime during the week.

  9. I can second that. The 23 oz are heavy but I was surprised how comfy they are. It's a pitty that my SG has a break now after 19 month of wear since I started to break in my IH 25 oz during the HWDC 2 for the next 2 years

But I'll come back to the SG because they are still far away from retirenment

I hear ya... well I gotta say that I would love to get another pair of 23oz's, but I just got the 3109's! I love your pair though, they're such a good example of promising fades.

Yeh 23oz is pretty damn heavy! I think I'd be happy with their 17oz 2103's to be honest.

Ah sounds a bit like my Mr Freedom Californians! Couldn't understand how on paper the measurements were fine and even compared alright with a pair I'd measured up against but on me just swamped me totally.

Yup! Exactly lol. Regardless I've seen some faded pairs and I gotta admit they are probably some of the nicest fades I've seen.

Anyways, here's some pics of my 3109's :D will put up post soak fit tomorrow... Gonna get them hemmed probably this Sunday.

Not sure what the 9 means.

  10. imo the only issue with the fit on the 5000cx was the thigh presoak and they seem to have shrunk to a near-perfect fit, for my tastes anyhow, *jealous*

Yea, try em before you do surgery :D

I'll see if I can find one - if not, I'll take a few shots this weekend :)

Well I got them hemmed... and shit, theyre amazing :D

They remind me of my khaki 501s, down to the fabric and everything except just way better quality. I only planned on getting a pair of jeans hemmed today as well, but I wound up buying a new pair, lol.

  11. Alright alright alright, ill get them hemmed haha. Ill give them a chance. If I eventually decide to taper it would slight, just so its not as loose from the knee down. I love the way the top block fits though.

Riff, do you have a fit pic of yours?

  12. I'm in the city almost on a weekly basis now so I'm pretty much up for whenever I have nothing to do. Always loved your street shots as well (I have your tumblr bookmarked, lol). I'll actually be in tomorrow in the afternoon.

  13. So just took them out of the dryer to ensure they shrink as much as possible.. Definitely going to get them tapered about .5".

    p1530829894-3.jpgp1530829910-3.jpg

The top block fits me perfectly though, just going to taper from the knee down.

  14. Thanks to both of you guys :)

Well I gotta say the second one isn't my favorite, I just like the overall atmosphere of the image. I have many others to post, but am still picking out the ones I really want to post vs. the ones I don't.

Tsxer - man I'm terribly sorry I never came through for the shoot! Next time your up here let me know and for sure I'll be there to help out :). When you say lose detail in the colors, are you talking about her jeans? Or is it because they are too dark? I see the lifestyle in the second image though, a lot of the ones that I'm having a hard time choosing between are definitely fashion oriented images. I really only tend to put watermarks up on FB though, I try not to and if I do I try to make it fit in at least, but I have a love/hate relationship with watermarks cause one day I'll wanna and the next I'll be like why the hell did I watermark that photo?

Sometimes I see fashion photographers watermark their photos, othertimes I just don't, I'd definitely say a majority of the time I don't see that happening though.

  15. Well I can tell you I most certainly did not get them for the fit. I never liked how the S5000's fit me, but I owned a pair of 30's back then and these are 29's. I bought them for the CX's because I love the color on them and I remember when I saw an old user (farmer) post his pair for sale I made it my goal to eventually get these. When I saw them on eBay I jumped at the opportunity, lol.

  16. Just got my 5000CX's in the mail. Everything buy the fit is dope. Just threw them in the wash/dryer for complete max shrinkage, going to drop them off to be hemmed and if I am not a fan of the fit after the wash I'll get a slight taper.
