  1. Next up is a pair of Samurai S5000VX size 32. These S5000s use Samurai's flagship Zero denim which is 17 oz., slubby, and unsanforized. In keeping with Samurai's normal attention to detail, every rivet and button is engraved front and back.

This pair has been worn very little and has no real fading at all yet. They have been hot washed once to get the shrinkage out, and subsequently hang dried. They have never been hemmed before.

    ***SOLD***

    Measurements (BiG-style):

    Waist: 33"

    Front Rise: 10.5"

    Back Rise: 13.75"

    Upper Thigh: 12.25"

    Knee: 9"

    Leg Opening: 8.25"

    Inseam: 35.5"

  2. I have 2 pairs of Samurai jeans for sale. First up is a pair of S5000GX-M size 34. These are from Samurai's limited edition Element line, and they are the Water model. Each element model from this line is limited to 400 pairs worldwide. These GX-Ms have 17 oz. slubby, unsanforized denim, and the weft yarns are dyed in natural indigo to give these jeans a more bluish cast as they fade. In keeping with Samurai's normal attention to detail, the buttons and rivets have some pretty cool thematic artwork on them, and every rivet and button is engraved front and back.

  3. Been a while since I've had a chance to post, but here are pics of my Samurai S500JX-LR after 8 months of part-time wear. I can't wear jeans at work anymore, so my wear has been limited to evenings and weekends, and these have also been in rotation with a pair of slimmer jeans for when I wear sleeker shoes. They've had 2 hot soaks, both within the first month of wear, and one hot hand wash at about 6 months.

  4. Pics of my S500JX-LR x-posted from the S500JX-LR contest thread. These have had 8 months of part-time wear. I can't wear jeans at work anymore, so my wear has been limited to evenings and weekends, and these have also been in rotation with a couple of pairs of slimmer jeans for when I wear sleeker shoes. They've had 2 hot soaks, both within the first month of wear, and one hot hand wash at about 6 months.

  6. Well what's the verdict? obvious difference between the left and right side or not?
to me...no. no big difference between the both legs. a tad more vertical falling on the LHT but that's it

For me, the LHT side is definitely fading faster.

  7. thanks! the worn-in jeans are from raw (unborn ;) ). The logwood dyed jeans are brand new and I don't have any broken in yet. I'll try to get some detailed pics of the logwood pieces up at some point in the next few weeks.

The logwood dyed leather came out really great- unlike the tiny run (3!) of indigo-dyed belts, the logwood dye doesn't cover up the character of the leather. Where there's extra grease in the skin it acts as a resist, giving a streaky effect to the dye. They're properly dyed though- so it shouldn't rub off. I'll post dyeing and product pics soon

Can you tell us a little bit more about the logwood-dyed denim? In some pics it looks black, in some it looks dark blue, in some you can see both colors.

    Either way, it looks great!

  8. About time I updated SUFU with my SDA SP 013s. Got more than 1 year worth of wear in them (maybe like 1 year and 2,5 months). 3+ washes, 5+ soaks.

These retain indigo very well (which is no surprise with 30 dips of natural indigo), and needs alot of wear to evolve. However, they are extremely comfortable, and I can recommend this denim highly.

    Those look amazing, man!

  9. DIdn't they use bamboo weft in the 5000-SP Ai dyed which wound up disintegrating within a short time?

No, the weft was still cotton, but it was dyed with bamboo ink. And the denim breaking down wasn't the problem, it was the stitching.

  10. ^ nice post, bF. I'd like to make the new Ai my first Samurai purchase but the details make them look streaky - just the pics or are they Oni Shoialike?

If the denim is woven like the S5000AI-10SP, it will be more like the Oni Shoai denim than the rest of Samurai's denim.

  11. I think it really depends on you. If these are your most favorite jeans, and they give you an orgasm every time you put them on, then its priceless.

Samurai calls the new AI, "武田信玄の猛々しさをデニムパンツで具現化"

Which basically means the "Denim Embodiment Of Takeda Shingen's Powerful Spirit." But I think the details are pretty impressive. Organic everything, except for the hardware. It has a beautiful hand and gorgeous color.

I think its worth it, but I'm not ready to spend $600 on some denim pants yet.

They're even more expensive than that. At current exchange rates, they're over $750 USD.

haha "orgasm every time you put them on." how do these AIs compare to previous ones? same detail and everything?

Detail seems to be similar to the S5000AI-10SP, except that the weft is not dyed on the new AI model. The selvage ID, leather patch, fly buttons, and pocket bags are different as well.

I don't think anyone other than Samurai employees can do a firsthand comparison yet, since they don't come out for another month.

  12. does anyone on sufu have the newest AI? does it have any problems like the last AI did with the blown out crotch area?

Are those even out yet? I read that they are being released in late March.

  13. Well, I took detailed shots..im hoping they arent fake, cause im going to be real pissed otherwise... I think these also might be one wash but dude said he also never did any soaks, and the person is from malayasia. I havent ever see fake skulls... Maybe they are?...

Pretty sure they're not fakes, that's what the 7x6 model looks like.

  14. Not to be disrespectful or anything but how many superd's actually have a pair. I've counted 7 or 8 that have been posted here so far.

I got a pair as a Christmas present from my wife but haven't had a chance to post any pics yet. Great, innovative jeans, fit slim without being too skinny. The waistband runs really big on this model, I sized down 2 from my true waist measurement on mine, and the waistband is still loose on me after 2 hot soaks. But overall, I really like the fit of this model.

Will post pics as soon as I can catch my wife at a free moment to take some.

  15. Wanted to get a few opinions, having difficulty deciding between a pair of SDA-103s and S0500xx. Currently own a pair of 710s, looking for a pair of slightly lighter weight. Anybody own a pair of both and want to share opinions? Concerned about low rise of the 103s, are they really that low? Thanks.

I've owned both, I can give you an opinion. As far as fit goes, both jeans are reasonably similar, but the SD-103 fits a little bit slimmer and has a little bit lower of a rise than the S0500XX. I did not find the rise on the SD-103 to be uncomfortably low at all, it is still certainly higher than, say, a slim jean from Skull or PBJ.

Construction quality (stitching precision, reinforcement, etc.) and durability will be a little bit better on the SDA. Cosmetic details (rivets, buttons, etc) will be a little bit better on the Samurai. The S0500XX will have slubbier denim than the SD-103, for better or for worse.

Personally, I prefer the SD-103. But objectively, there's not too much separating the two.

  16. :D finally! Thank you for that! You got them hemmed, right?

LOL, yeah, I'm kind of at the mercy of my wife's free time to get decent pictures taken.

I did hem, I think the leg opening is too wide on these for beatle-style stacking.

  17. fit is good, but it really looks like a s5000 then a s0500

It's funny that you say that, I kinda thought the same thing when I first got these. I had a pair of S0500 a couple of years back and for some reason remembered the legs being slimmer and more tapered than these are.
