I cut up a beat up old pair of Oki's into 5" patches years ago.. i gave some of them away to folks on DB i'm sure i have some left in an envelope but i have no idea where they might be..

I have a trashed pair of pre-lawsuit SC-47's here which are only fit for patches, if you want to pay for international postage from the UK, you're welcome to them, i just want the leather patch, tab and some pocket bag material.

I made some jorts out of a pair of '47s so I have plenty of that denim laying around. But if you find that Oki denim, let me know! I would be happy to pay shipping plus a little beer money!

  2. I would really love to see @therelativity's style and interpretation. I don't know if she's still around though.

And that guy that absolutely destroyed denim because he worked construction in them. Fastest all over fades I've ever seen. He used to argue with the ocean washing types that the fades weren't because he washed them every couple days. Can't remember his name though.

  3. I'm a whore for good puckering and marbling. So that usually has me hot washing and super drying my jeans. But I am battling with the plan for this jean. Do I go for a more vintage look? Cold wash, hang dry only? So difficult. I know I can always look to you, Aho, to see the pucker possibilities.

I admittedly fell out of interest with CSF once his jeans became more or less unobtainable.
Also just wearing jeans from nearly any other brand reminds me how much I don't like the fit of my CSF.
I struggled to wear them for nearly a year because I was determined to make them work, but they just don't jive with me.
Tight hips so the fly looks like it's about to pop open, but somehow the waist is baggy so they feel tight and loose at the same time, completely unusable front pockets.
I appreciate the attention to detail to his craft as it is second to none, but personally I prefer a balance of wearability / accessibility / accurate detailing.
I prefer to buy a pair of jeans that might not be perfectly cut/sewn to the era but I feel comfortable wearing them, they're functional and don't have to wait a year plus to get them.

This hits the nail on the head for me. Over the past several years I have been on the journey of getting deeper and deeper into repros, looking for the next pair that would top the rest (I'm a one pair at a time, every 2-3 years kind of guy). That had me progress through every brand and reaching the logical conclusion that CSF was the next. But every time I switch from my current WWII repros (WH DD1003-SXX 20th anni) into my work around the house jeans (FC1101XX) I am reminded how much fit has to do with my adoration of a pair of jeans. When I have the warehouse repros off, I love to pour over the details of the jeans, the texture of the denim, the stitching, the way the pockets are different shapes, but when I put them on, the rise is too high, causing them to slide below my muffin top creating a slouchy fit that leaves me "meh".

But those FC. When I put them on, they are perfectly loose all around, with a four button rise that creates a comfortable but styled look that makes me feel good when wearing them. But in the land of details, they are more mass produced feeling. Soulless.

So while details drive me to pour over jeans when they are off, they can be easily shadowed by a less than desirable fit.

For me now, the perfect jean has the soul of a WWII repro with a fit that sings to me.

Gah....really want in on the full tux but will likely only be getting the jeans, though this is pretty much the exact jacket I've been waiting for :ph34r2:

Same here. The only one to battle this would maybe be the "one piece of rock" from CSF. And I'm not waitin around for that or paying that price. This is THE WWII type 1.

I like the wife part of it, I can relate to that.
My wife thinks the jeans all look the same so I only have to be extra cautious with the couriers/pickups.
Also, recently I've done a lot of skype music lessons that get paid on paypal, I am trying to keep a paypal credit emergency fund for the under the radar shopping.

Tcb uses a specific denim for each repro jean model they make.
The fabric is made to reproduce the features of the original fabric. So WW2 denim is still unknown territory. the contest pairs will be the very first batch tcb will make.

Lol I have the same side funds as well. I really try to explain all the reasons why this or that is really special, turning thing's inside-out emphatically. She's a good sport and gives me an encouraging "how cool!" at proper intervals.

That's exciting about the denim. I love the attention they are giving to the details, watching the videos they have put out for them on Instagram. Yeah I'm all in for a tux. Fuck. That was easy.

  7. Man. I am a sucker for WWII repros and all this quarantine down time has awakened my excitement for fades and contests. This is the first one that has piqued my interest since the Roy contest from who knows how long ago.

I have been interested and watching TCB from the sidelines for a while. Looks like it's time to dive in.

I'm not terribly familiar with their denim though. Is this a standard denim of theirs that has faded samples?

And its not like I need another denim jacket but this is a special one right? Different from the rest, right?? I just need to get the story straight when I get the look from my wife.

  8. Yeah I definitely wasn't expecting this level amount of fading. It makes me realize a lot of the vintage workwear fades we see are likely caused in part by being worn in the sun and dried in the sun over time.

Just confirmed the '46s with a proxy, threw in a couple of graphic tees to boot.

Man even though I'm still a far ways away from being done with the 20th anni WW2s, I am super tempted to snag the new 46s. Pockets, arcs and the 4 button rise make these seem too perfect to pass.

  10. Hey guys I wanna pull on the collective brilliance here.

I'm looking to round out the osaka 5 collection with some old school Evis 2501s or maybe even some special older 2001s in good condition.

Where is the best place to prowl for them these days for a US guy? Buyee for Yahoo auctions? Is there a better place to look?

And for the knowledgeable of the group, do the older versions have the same vanity sizing? Brummie??

Will do @nycsurfer530, I figured it’s getting close to the end of the month and I don’t want to run the risk of missing out on a pair. I don’t mind paying a little premium to use a proxy / ship via a courier if it secures a pair for me.

Been a bit out of touch, are these banner denim or new denim for the anni?
