Motoretta is doing 25% off all Filson bags this weekend. We have some small duffles, some medium field bags and some large briefcases. We have several of the colours in each bag.
We are also doing 25% off all our Fred Perry and Ben Sherman for the weekend.

I've noticed that pretty much all Euro stores that stock Alden have them at a much higher price than North America. Probably due to customs, duties and shipping. Sucks for people in Europe but I guess it is unavoidable if you want to carry them.

Awesome movie. I got to meet Cronenberg the other day. He is a customer and I had to deliver some stuff up to his house. Tiny little old man but really nice and the guy rock a frigging Audi R8!

Great night = Massey Hall, amazing seats, 4 empty seats in front of me, 2 encores, a Neil Young cover, a drummer wearing a Rush shirt, a drunk guy jumping up on stage and the PIXIES!
Unfortunately no good pictures.

Oh and a side note I wear my Alden's everyday and rotate them. I only wear my Red Wings for harder beater work. Any of the brands you mentioned can be service by a decent cobbler. Do not worry about a local guy knows your shoes specifically he should still be able to take them apart, repair them and put them back together.

Realistically I think Red Wings will have a longer life. The Alden's have gained in popularity hugely but as it is a smaller company they seem to have struggled with the output. Don't get me wrong, I have two pairs of Alden (the Roy's and the Indy's) and I love them and I also have a pair of Beckman's. I have heard some horror stories recently about the Indy boots. Namely that their quality control has gone down due to the amount of volume they are trying to put out. Mine have been fine but I wouldn't buy a pair that you couldn't try on or that didn't come from a trusted retailer. Alden's factory customer service is stuck in the 50's so do not expect much help if something goes wrong. I much prefer my Alden's for me to wear but it seems like the Red Wings would do you well.
I have no experience with Wolverine or White's but there are definitely people here than can add in about those brands.
Oh and the issues I have heard about the alden's are namely the Welt stitch coming loose and the stitch at the bottom of the laces where the upper comes to a corner quick often loosens up.

Very, very cool. I would cherish it as well. Looks like the sweater is in wearable condition as well... do you ever rock it?
My great-grandfather was a "bazooka-man" (artillery) in WWII. I wish my grandmother would have held on to his uniforms and such. Would be great to have as a keepsake.
It doesn't fit but I ordered the navy Gant Rugger version for the fall when my store did it's orders. Going to see if I can find some paint or whatever to do the Navy writing on it like the vintage one. Anyone have any suggestions on what i can use to write Navy on a new wool sweater similarly to this one?
