  1. yeah my only regret is not washing my jeans more. I've only soaked them twice in two years, and now the denim is just eating itself practically and coming apart at the seems. it looks good for what it is, but it doesn't have any longevity left, really.

  2. apc's fade ridiculously fast, its almost feel's like the indigo dye is powder on denim, they bleed all over the place. diors are smooth in finish, taking more work to fade, but i like that. i personally value the fit and classiness over fades. fading is just a fun aspect of raw denim for me

by the way, anybody have a relatively new pair of mij 29's? GET AT ME

ha, you are just lying to yourself man. straight up. apc's fade very gradually. maybe you didn't get an authentic pair. they are no frills raw denim, and two years in, i still haven't gotten them to fade 100% yet.

  3. but what is the point for raw denim that doesn't really fade well? especially to enthusiasts on this board?

You hit the nail on the head "if it weren't for the label" people wouldn't buy them. But seriously, 350 for a pair of jeans that don't even have nice fades? but are intended to fade? don't get it.

  4. I wouldn't buy Diors over APC NC. Really, the difference is just the Brand. I own APC and I've seen and tried on DIOR's before, and the denim is NOT better than apc. It's just a gimmick, and Diors don't fade as well either.

  5. I have 1 pair of jeans only. I'm so broke, all i have really is one pair of dickies for work, and then apc'c NS. I've been rocking them for 2 years straight, and am happy with the minimalism. Although, i'm going for Left Field Jeans next, or the Rouge Territory denim work pants next

  6. I've always love simple, high quality, understated clothing, but carries some sort of sentimental of long term aesthetic value. I like pieces, and and very much so a minimalist with how i dress. Ever since I was a teen, i was in search for the PERFECT pair of denim. I just loved how it looked, how it fit, and also really dark denim. It wasn't until a few years ago i discovered raw denim, and it became a new clothing obsession. My jeans become me. I wear them night and day, there are stories to tell behind them, it's also a fun hobby to have such a small nitch interest that we would be all willing to spend 200+ in denim, just because we find the value in it. Denim is like time capsule in a way, and the end result is a piece of art. It's fun, aesthetically pleasing, goes with everything etc.

  7. I'm not even gonna weigh in on the complete sillyness in this thread, but I had to note that speculating on someone's business (especially a privately owned venture) is especially tacky and in bad taste.

How so? Part of ROYS appeal is the blatancy of hand making denim by one person. It becomes the consumers right to speculate when his practice is at the expensive of the buyer based on an ideal that is nothing more than the idea of hand making denim in small batches irregardless of quality difference

  8. Did you mean to say "silly to [NOT] buy a similar product for cheaper"? I disagree. In today's more conscientious society, there is a growing consumer demographic that care not only about what they buy but from whom, how, and where. Rnrswitch and many others on this thread seem to reflect that movement - willing to support the production (and not only the product) at a certain level of acceptable cost. Also, we as consumers do not singularly dictate the worth/value of a good. We only play the part of demand and thus we'll see if the real value is indeed 275. Don't forget, if ROY catches fire, the increased demand can drive up prices higher.

Now, if only people who got the 1st gen ROY's post some evo pics... haven't seen any significant wears yet and it's already been 4-5 months.

Question for Paul T, doesn't unsanforized automatically equate to STF?

Yes, my bad. that was a typo.

I completely understand everything you're saying. I agree for the most part, but what I think is being unfairly implied is that if a company were to have a more economic business structure fit for the average premium denim consumer (someone who's willing to pay for quality, but not willing to spend 300 dollars on a new brand without any sort of reputation other than it's work ethic) by having more workers who can produce more goods suited for demand, than that is actually smarter all around. The craftsman ship doesn't change, and the work load would actually be leveled out. Maybe ROY himself wouldn't get 100% of the profits, but the jeans would be cheaper, the quality would remain the same, and he would in all actuality would sell more denim at 185$ than 275$. Unless the whole project is based on him making the jeans by hand because he loves doing it himself completely, than thats cool, but in the end when i'm walking down the street in my pair of jeans, i'm going to be more stoked knowing i saved a hundred bucks on the same pair of jeans made by a company with the same work ethic but a more economically intelligent business model.

  9. it's annoying that APC are considered lower quality denim than other more expensive brands. I've had my apc's for two years or daily wear, the faded beautifully and cost me half as much as "superior" denim. Are people really judging the denim for what it is, or for the implied quality that people associate with price? I mean, can anyone really wear jeans for longer than two years without getting crotch rip or other kinds of deterioration? Or just plain getting bored and moving on to something else? I don't have a ton of experience with multiple differen brands, but i still think APC are up there on the spectrum of high quality, and when compared to brands like samuri and other self edge brands i think APC have better fading, and more classic qualities of fading from a standard raw classic denim. I always thought samuri's fades looked chalky and intentional. Just my two cents

  10. hypothetically what happens if some company involving 10 individuals were to make the same quality pair of denim in every way as ROY does himself, but the price of the jeans were to cost half as much because they were less labor intensive while no sacrifice in product was detected.

are the jeans themselves really worth the value we attach to 250 dollars, or are we more so paying for the idea of expert craftsmanship than for the product itself?

I think the jeans are wonderful, and would totally buy them, but as a consumer it's quit silly to buy a similar product for cheaper even though they aren't "hand made"

  11. can anyone vouch for the quality of 3sixteen over apc? I want to get a pair but i wanna make sure that they are going to be substantially more durable and better quality. I don't want to be getting crotch rip in a year.
