  1. Just nabbed the last pair of 2005 LVC 1890 from yoox for $125. Oh yeah...

    BLM.

They are really nice jeans, and better than the Valencia model with the wrong leather patch ( which have "original", rather than "Copper" rivetedin the text). The denim is just awesome. I have a pair in sz 36/36, but unfortunately for me they measure 38.5/36. Damn you Lvc !

  2. Wasn't someone looking for a Levis 213 jacket (budget type one) a few pages back? There's two on ebay (dark, not distressed finish), one a 44, one in a 40.

Dont know how to link, but put Lvc Levis in the search and tick the little box.

The size 40 is a 555 (stamp on buttons) and the 44 is a 822 stamp. You can tell by the 1 inch spacing around the edge of the label on the sz 44. The sz 40 is more 'authentic', label wise.

Both indistingishable apart from that and lovely jackets, which dont come up very often.

  3. For sale: 1955 Lvc Levis 501xx sz38/36 from 2005 collection BNWT. Bought from Cinch in 2005, too big for me though.

Size on tag: 38/36, but actual measured size is:

    Waist-38.5", inside leg- 35.5", leg opening-9.5", front rise-13", back rise-17".

Price is £135.00 (Non-negotiable) plus shipping. I am not making a profit on these and i'm not in competition with any online store, so if you see some cheaper somewhere else, I suggest you buy them.

  4. For sale: 1933 Lvc Levis 501xx from 2004 BNWT. Purchased from Cinch in 2004 but too big for me. Size 38/36, but actual measurements are:

Price is £135.00 plus postage (determined afterward with buyer) and is non-negotiable. I'm not in this for profit, I just want my money back. If you find a cheaper pair somewhere else, I suggest you buy them. I'm not in competition with any online store.

  7. i came across a set of old skinhead (great style!) photos on flickr and was looking through them. some great jeans in there, but was especially excited by THIS. how amazing is that crewneck?! (sorry couldn't post the image directly for some reason...blocked?)

oh, and some of you might be interested in THIS ...measurements sound odd.

Wow, thanks Man, that really brings back memories - I had three of those exact crewnecks, when I was about 14-15, all identical (Blue, grey and 'wine') and all from me Mam's catalogue. Wish i'd kept one of them now...

  8. I am in the process of ordering the Monarch M-422 from Goodwear after seeing Airfrog's prototype. First glance instantly looks better than any other repro M-422/G-1 I've seen, and custom built to boot! After a long conversation with John (GW) I'm a convert. It's like stepping back in time and straight into the Quarter\Masters depot to get one fresh out of the box. Cant wait !

  9. I will be posting some items on Supermarket sometime this week. All BNWT. Some Levis lvc and two pairs of Lee.

The Levis models and sizes are:

    -1955 501 sz 36/36 from 2003 (554)

    -1944 S501 sz 36/36 from 2003 (554)

    And -1955 501 sz 38/36 from 2005

All bought from Cinch. All of these are simply surplus to requirements. Hopefully get the pics done on tuesday, and list the same day..

  10. I just got the japanese magazine "Lightening"'s latest big denim issue and it has some vintage Levi's that it describes as "501xxs" does anybody know what the "s" stands for?

    Chucko,

does it read 501xxs, or are they 501xx s-type, mentioned by Busted seam (i.e. Is the 's' above where the 501 is stamped in black)??

On the 501xx (1964 or earlier), there would sometimes be an 'ES', 'EX' or 'SP', which denoted extra sizes or special sizes (longer in Length). This would be stamped after the 501XX (in black) rather than above.

    A pic would be helpfull.

  11. Could anyone give me some help ordering from the Hinoya website? I'm trying to get hold of a Buzz Rickson B-15c (BLUE) in a 44 or 46, but would like some accurate measurements first (of each) before ordering (they have both sizes). I've tried Ratuken - out of stock, and Clever ID only go up to a 42. Anybody out there help, or be willing to part with one?? Here's hopin...

  12. 1944's (..cont.)

Inside pockets: calico cotton on 2003, striped shirt material on '05. Check out the black bar-tack stitch vs yellow bar-tacking which attaches the belt loops.

    jeans018.jpg

Watch pocket position/shape. Rivets are plain on 2003.

    jeans013.jpg

Rivets on 2005 are a mix of plain and stamped.

    2005

    jeans016.jpg

Both pairs are tagged 36/36, both measure 36 dead.

  13. Last lot of comparisons then.

    1944 S501xx, 2003 vs 2005.

    jeans005.jpg

2005 edition is darker. 2003 denim is identical to earlier, 555 repros

Back pocket shapes and arcs (left 2003, right 2005)

    jeans008.jpg

Leather patch 2003 (brownish tone to embossed print)

    jeans007.jpg

2005 (nice finish-off stitching, bottom right) Red tone embossed print

    jeans006.jpg

Inside leg stitch spacing: Left '03, right '05.

    More to follow...

  14. I like the 98 denim better, looks almost black and I also like the dullness of it.

To be honest, I've yet to try out the 2005 55's, but the 98's and 2003 both have a unique-ness to them when soaked + washed. The denim on the '05 looks more shiny, but I think they will dull a bit when put through their 1st soak+wash.

  15. Comparisons of my 1955's as requested (I forget who originally asked).

    1955 501xx's from1998, 2003 and 2005.

    009.jpg

Apologies, but I've tried to compare the difference in denim, but my camera just really isn't up to the job.

Valencia Street, San Antonio and Taylor Toggs factories respectively.

    002.jpg

The 1998 edition is darker than the 2003. The 2005 is as dark as the 98, but more shiny in appearance.

    From left to right: 1998/2003/2005

    001.jpg

    Back pockets:1998

    005.jpg

2003 (note: chalk mark on pocket stitch - a reoccurring theme throughout post 2002 jeans.

    004.jpg

2005: wobbly stitching. colour is lighter yellow than previous models, and more noticably the yellow rows of top stitch on the outside (rather than on the inside of previous years)

    003.jpg

    1998 rivet and belt loop

    006.jpg

    2003

    007.jpg

    2005

    008.jpg

Tagged waist sizes are 36, But measured waist sizes vary-

    1998 = 36" dead, 2003 = 37" dead, and 2005 measure a hair under 38" !

  16. Why are the 555s unquestionably better than the 2005 except for the single stitched arcuate? For example, how do you know that the denim on the 555s is more accurate? And how do you know which color stitching on the backpockets is more correct?

I have the 555 201s from 98 or 99, I forget, and I thought the bright orange on the backpockets made them look like Nudies.

    Who said anything about accuracy?

I was giving my personal preferrence in relation to the two pairs of 201's compared to each other.

As I told you before, If I wanted accuracy, I would shell out for an original.

Levis Vintage clothing replicas IMO is the closest we mere working mortals can get (and afford..!) to the original historical garments.

But it is just that; A close replica (..and full of inaccuracies, but beautifull in it's own right). People are entitled to their own opinions and preferrences. Get used to it.
