  1. Listen to ajchen's advice. My measurements are pretty similar (5'9", 155lbs, 32" true waist, 22" thigh), and I wear a 30 in both the SL and ST cuts. It's only a matter of deciding between the SL and ST.

  2. Damn shame about what has happened to the company. I got suckered into buying the collaboration boots; the boots I received had some issues, but Dayton's customer service was fantastic. Wings+Horns customer service was shit and left me out to dry. I still wish the boots I got were OK because I probably would have worn them to my grave.

Dayton made quality boots for a decent price. They're no Viberg or White's, though. It was a pretty small outfit, hardly set up to handle the output of the aforementioned boot companies, or a bunch of insane people following some thread on the internet...

  3. I wonder what boots the Canadian loggers buy now, or does Viberg have a special pricing for folks who do real "work"?

Not hating on Viberg's - I very much agree with riff, their "work" and "hiking" boots are incredibly well-made, with cleaner construct than their American counterparts.

I believe that would be Dayton boots. Much less pretentious and more fairly priced, although they too got involved with a certain fashion brand for a collaboration ($700 "work" boots, anyone?).

  4. "rope dyed, selvedge 12oz canvas from White Oak - Cone Mills"

"...this Cone indigo dyed canvas due to how it ages over time, it almost ages like an indigo dyed denim which was produced with massive loom-chatter"

This explains the blue, but what explains the black? Overdye? Sulphur coating? I'm curious...

  5. The SL is a more comparable cut to the 811 than the ST. The SL would have a slimmer top block and thighs, with a smaller leg opening than the 811. The rise (and length of the fly) is also shorter than the 811.

  6. This is my first purchase from BiG, and I have to say I'm pretty impressed.

    Nice detail

Using the best quality materials (sure looks familiar... made by Oni?)

Interesting detail: there's an extra stitch in addition to the chainstitch on the inseam. First time I've seen this before. Anyone know the reason for this?

Indigo rainbow (Can you guess the denim?)

For those questioning the front rise/fewer buttons, the fly measures 7.75 inches on a size 31, which is comparable to most of my other mid to high rise jeans.

I'm pretty happy with the pre-soak fit, but unfortunately I won't be soaking/wearing these any time soon.

  7. Nice. Are those the old Kaihara denim, or the new Kuroki stuff?

Those fades appear to have more contrast than the Kaihara denim, but I can't remember if the Kuroki stuff was available 10 months ago...

  8. Calm down. The 1XXX denim stretches quite a bit with wear, like back to the raw measurements, and maybe even more.

The indigo SEXFH05 jeans were made from the same denim and many people had issues with them stretching too much. Based on those experiences I sized down on my 1001, although I have yet to soak or wear mine so I cannot comment on my experience.

From your presoak fit, I'd say they should fit spot-on now. Unless you wanted a looser fit, in which case the 1001 is the wrong cut for you...

  9. I was going to buy these jeans anyway, but since everyone is creaming themselves over them, I finally put my money down to make sure I don't miss out. Love the denim and details, and that they're (likely) manufactured by Oni - big fan of my pair of Burgus and have always wanted a pair of Oni's.

    Let's do this!
