  1. for future consultants / bankers / hedge funders etc

this website has been very useful for case prep www.caseinterview.com

Case questions are good for consulting, maybe banking. If you are going for a hedge fund job (or any s&t job), just go buy a book of trick probability questions. I hear people talking about trading interviews every day and 95% of the questions asked in the interviews are just about expected values. Also, www.glassdoor.com is a good place to see which questions specific firms are asking.

  2. Random shots from this morning..

Had Lente and Herfst. Surprisingly thought Herfst was better. Also had Deviation out of a pitcher, which was awesome :)

Too lazy to take pics of my haul, will post them later. I'm going to sleep for now.

  3. Still taken aback by recent changes in my life that happened over 2 weeks ago. Feel like I should be fully adjusted by now but it's still soaking in. Feel like too much shit is up in the air right now. I have an endless list of things to do and I feel like when I take care of 1 thing, I add 10 more to do. No end in sight of when things will settle down.

Also, I used to not be able to stand Rick Ross but I've had Maybach Music 2 on loop all day, mostly because of a T-Pain line in the chorus (I guess that's the confessional).

  4. ^Just got a free iPhone replacement. New camera lens is nice :)

This stuff is delicious. $15 for a 750 off the shelf, Witbier fermented once with brett, once in Chard barrels, and then bottle fermented. Blows Zwanze 2010 away.

  5. The Armand 4 series definitely. I'm not sure if they are sold outside of Belgium but they're worth putting on the list, especially Lente. Also, there are a lot of Cantillon bottles you can't get in the US that you should have her look for. Again, they might only really be found in Belgium but it's worth a shot.

  6. I used to be unrelentingly hungry, but I feel like I've been lazy for the past two years. I was presented with an incredible opportunity a couple of weeks ago though that put a fire under me. I feel like I've had adrenaline pumping steadily since then, and it's the first time in years that I've been grinding endlessly (18+ hour days) and actually enjoying it. Feels good to be so focused and driven again.

  7. My palate was a bit worn down by that point in the day, but I remember being kinda let down by Wild One. It was both sweeter and less sour than I expected. Mouthfeel was nice, taste was decent, but overall the beer was not as impressive as I was expecting. My opinion might be skewed due to having had sours I thought were much better that day though. Regardless, it's worth at least trying, and if you don't like it I'm sure you won't have a problem trading your other bottles :)

  8. Just opened my first Olde Burnside Highland Wild. It's actually very good, a bit sweet, but everything works together very well and it's much more enjoyable than I expected a sour scotch ale would be. You should check out your local beer store concealed, it seems pretty easy to find around here. Just look for the weird blue 16oz swingtops.

edit: also, do any of the CT guys know where can I cop Gandhi Bot while I'm here?

  9. Cleaning stuff out of my closet that never sees any wear. Most of it is from a couple years ago. Prices include shipping to the US, international shipping will be more. I can also do in person sales in NYC.

IF NEEDED: I can take some better pics, and I can get measurements on any of this.

    Tshirts:

    Dior Homme

Size XL (I think this is mistagged though, fits more like a M/L, can get measurements)

    Worn once

    $100

    dscn2886t.jpg

    dscn2885g.jpg

    Material Boy

    Size M

Worn about a dozen times, paid $115 I think.

    $50

    dscn2884m.jpg

    Kenzo Minami

    Size L (fits like M)

I've worn this quite a bit but it's still in great shape. It looks huge in the picture but it's just because the neck is cut so wide. It fits pretty slim. Paid $200 for it.

    $50

    dscn2888.jpg

    dscn2889i.jpg

    Philip Lim 3.1

    Size L (fits oversized/slouchy)

Worn maybe 6-8 times. Paid $120 for it I think.

    $80

    dscn2887b.jpg

    Neil Barrett

Size 43 (same soles as Common Projects)

I bought these in Hong Kong for like HKD$2000 ($250ish USD) and wore them about 5 times thinking they would stretch out a bit. They didn't, and instead the lining inside the right shoe tore. I don't really know what to sell these for, so make me an offer.

    dscn2890a.jpg

    dscn2893o.jpg

    Maison Martin Margiela

    Patent/suede outer, leather inner

Used this just 3 or 4 times, has some black raw denim stains on the outside of it. Still in the original box with card and cloth. Leather feels like butter. Retail was $300, I paid $180, selling for $100.

  10. @islandboi-- I need to try it again with a fresh palate soon, I didn't pick up on the sweetness but I'd had like a dozen beers already. I thought CBS was quite a bit sweeter.

@destroyer-- try to hold onto an Olde School for 3-4 years. I had one around that old and it was a lot more balanced imo.

  11. Yeah. It doesnt have batch #s like before, but date of 11.10.11 is stamped on the label. Mean Old Tom sold out in a matter of few hours -- I was one of the last few ppl to snag one when I was in the store. Excited to try it. Don't think I'll age it. btw how do you age your beer? Room temperature or in the fridge?

Ideal conditions for beers are no light, low to no humidity, 55 degrees. I've heard you need to change the cooling unit in a fridge or tamper with the regular cooling unit so it is not too cold.

  12. Whoever was the guy saying he tried Black Tuesday recently at the brewery and didn't like it.. I don't understand that at all. I had 2011 fresh today (first time having BT period) and although The Bruery puts out plenty of random novelty beers, damn that beer is good. It is impressive for them to put out an 18.2% bourbon barrel stout that tastes as good as and more balanced than Bourbon County (which is ~13%) after it has mellowed for two years.

Anyway, yeah, I was impressed by that beer. Here's the other random pics from today (excuse the shitty pics, my cell phone camera lens is scratched to hell):

    Midnight Sun Bar Fly.. overrated

    lineupf.png

The final lineup.. ended up being about half the bottles that were brought. From left to right:

Kuhnhenn Imperial Bourbon Barrel Braggot, RR It Takes a Lot of Great Beer to Make Great Wine, Midnight Sun Bar Fly, Jackie O's Brandy Barrel Super Fly, a homebrewed peanut butter and jelly porter, Terrapin Iron Tankard, Alpine BA Token, Bruery 2011 Black Tuesday, Tilquin Gueuze, Hill Farmstead Flora, 2007 Cantillon Kriek, Upright Sole Composition Love Blend, AleSmith 2009 Barrel Aged Speedway Stout, Great Divide 2008 Barrel Aged Hibernation, Bells Wild One, Bruery Barrel Aged 2 Turtle Doves, Upright Six, Uinta Oak Jacked Imperial Pumpkin Ale, Bruery ISO:FT, Cigar City Vuja De (this was opened kinda as a joke just to see if it has gotten any better.. I poured out like 3/4 of the bottle if that says anything).

Also not pictured.. Element Vernal, Hoppin Frog BA Naked Evil, and growlers of Breckenridge 471 Small Batch IPA and New England 668 Neighbor of the Beast.

Was a long day, had a good time though :)

  13. Nice man! Did they brew a new batch of Mean Old Tom for this winter?

youkinorn and I cracked JP La Roja as well as 2010 and 2010 La Folies tonight. 2010 had some weird ketchup thing going on.. not as bad as the 100% Brett Autumn Maple (which tastes like tomato soup) but was definitely noticeable. 2011 was good though.

  14. driving in ny = something i will never do again.

Nah I actually don't mind driving in the city because people who drive here actually know how to drive. I was down in DC suburbs when I made that post, those people drive like fucking morons.
