Seems to me that you sold a lot of nice ones. Might I ask why?

For me a lot of times I fund new purchases by selling old pairs. I had a mass exodus after I lost a bunch of weight. That got the Roy’s, 1915, 1937, 1955 And sugar canes. The samurais I ended up not being very interested in cause of the fast crocking high contrast. After the first wash I was kinda blown away by what they looked like and it actually turned me off of buying any Japanese jeans for a really long time. I didn’t really know a whole lot about samurai and kinda bought them on a whim as a noob coming from owning a couple pairs of LVC. I sold the 1944s and 60s cause I didn’t like the cut.

edit : this is also spanning a period of around 10 years, so might seem crazier than it actually is.

Great fit on both items! And damn, I think it' the first time in all those years that I actually see your face :D

thanks BF. I let my face show every now and again. feels a little weird still.

That's a quandary! Nb shouts to your avatar - Jackie Mittoo isn't it? That's a great player.

Yeah Jackie mittoo! Love his stuff. Don’t listen to the skatalites much like I did in my high school days but the Jackie mittoo and the soul Bros record and other later Jackie mittoo stuff is undeniable.

My wife is really understanding. She probably does spend about as much as I do on clothes for work and stuff. That “hey I just bought another pair of expensive pants” conversation is just not the coolest.

Great to see you on board guys.

Erk, I went down a size because I'd worn the contest pair; I like the fit this way but enjoyed the 1 size up fit just as much, it feels more 1920s.

Thought you might appreciate the sight of some tweed, Erk. This one's a bit neglected, pulled it out this weekend and want to get it back into regular use again.

paulT you dirty dog. Is that a tweed champ I'm seeing?

I'd say sizing down is definitely an option with this denim, but not needed, since they're really not enormous in the leg :)

yeah. they don't look very wide. I think they're actually going to be slimmer than my 50s at the hem. The thing I really care about is a fitted topblock.

  6. free charles manson put me over the edge. I also slipped in just under the wire thanks to volvo. I was waffling big time on this and his patience was excellent.

went with W: 31 L: 34 - my measured waist is 31. was very tempted to go down one.

  7. I’d say the 60s are low rise. I think mine was 10 or 10.5 on a 32. If there is something lower than that meant for men...it’d be a gruesome sight

And the 32 60s felt much smaller than the 32 50s at the waist. I’m thinking this is cause they hit lower on the hips where it’s much wider. The 50s hit above the hip bones closer to the natural waist.

Also keep in mind Maynard measures his jeans while pulling on the waistband. So this might account for the difference in measure. I think I’m remembering this right.

  8. Both of my 50s - contest and regular - shrank below tag size. My 34s were 34 raw and my 32 was a touch over 32. They’re very stretchy. My 32s shrink down to 30 and stretch out to 32 in minutes.

  9. I never really found the pointer coat...appealing.

    has a different ring than:

the pointer coat is nice but it’s not really for me.

Theres never been a shortage of cone baggers. Just like a lot of things people cannot appreciate the subtlety or the amount of time it takes to fade a pair.

if duders snarkiness was unintentional then whatever. I doubt it.

Yeah couldn't agree more. I swear to God I did all I could. If you check the op you'll see pics of how tcb measure their jeans  but still I didn't manage to straighten this out correctly. I know people like you or @dr_heech would have jumped on this if the jeans had a higher front rise. Next time I'll send @bobbo to Kurashiki to take measurements lol

don't beat yourself up about it. its not your fault. I thought you nailed it, this is totally on them. All their sizing charts seem to be a bit wacky.

    fit looks great!

Hey guys, I'm pretty much a brand new Superfuture user, but I'm a long-time TCB stalker and I'm thinking about finally pulling the trigger on a pair of the 50s jeans. I'm looking at the measurements on Denimio (which appear to be the same for the one wash and raw) and I'm tryna figure out which size to get. I'm looking for a snug top-block and I'm usually a 30 or 29 in regular Levi's 501 stf. A true 30 inch waist with such a high rise is a little too big for me, but again, I can't tell which measurements are accurate here. I think a true 29 -29.5 waist would probably work best.

Is there a better resource out there? I don't want to make you guys do the legwork.

AND AGAIN, sorry I'm sure this crap gets asked all the time. Just tryna join the TCB club, ya feel?

buy them from direct from TCB like volvo said. my experience has been that they are just a touch over sized. My 32s were 32.5"  raw - measured with the top block aligned the Blue in Green way. I think it is best to order your measured size or one size down. the fabric is very stretchy and you have plenty of room in the rise and thigh.

    edit : I think you're probably right in getting a 29.
