  1. in regards to white's rebuild service, can they change a boot from a swing last to a standard last? I've got a pair that I like with the exception for the clown-shoe swing last and they're in need for a resole anyways.

I bet they can do that. It shouldn't be any harder than changing the width. I think it will cost you around $200 though.

and thanks Happy Hooligan. The single leather sole is so much more comfortable. and I think it looks better too.

  2. So back in December I sent my whites back to be rebuilt on a custom 10.5C/D last. D at the toes and C through the rest. The fit is great, totally fixed the issues I was having. And all for the cost of soles. They arrivedlasts night and whites has delivered once again, further impressing me. Their customer service is unbelievable.

So when I decided to do the rebuild, I thought I might as well try them on the single leather soles. I'm a total believer in these. Much more comfy and nimble. I'll post some pics later when I get home from work.

new 55s. I love the fit. and I love San Francisco. my band played there a couple years ago and it was amazing. we got 3 days off in the city. best 3 days of the whole tour.

I'm on the right. wearin 1937s.

  4. What tag size did you go for in the end and how much have they shrunk? The ones I had shrunk too much in the waist and i couldn't do them up post soak which was disapointing

They basically shrunk to tagged size. So they went from 36-34. They are tagged 34x36

  5. we're gonna need to know what size they are. really cool boots though.

Hey! Might be a long shot.

Got: Pair of unworn SDs, calfskin burgundy, cuban heel, vibram halfsole, antique eyes and hooks. brown single leather sole and side.

Want: Pair of unworn or quite unworn SDs, standard dress brown leather, cuban heel, leather sole brown, antique eyes and hooks.

For a possible switch pm, please.

  6. So my new 1955s are in. Overall I think they're pretty awesome. I love the fabric, the fit/silhouette is realy cool and classic, the construction looks to be dead on, and the pockets look really nice.

however, the buttons look horrible. the cheapest looking I've seen. definitely not what you'd come to expect on a 250 dollar pair of jeans. the rivets look nice and this time are copper backed rather than silver.

although the fly buttons look cheapo, the backs look pretty cool. more like what i've seen on originals, kinda domed looking.

my other gripe is an old one. I wish they used nicer thread. The thread roy slaper uses is really nice and doesn't look shiny and plastic. the thread used on these is a little hairy, but still quite shiny. Something I still notice on my 1937s.

  7. came in today!

black chromexcel, natural sole, half commando, block heel (lowered 1/4), antique hardware.

dislike the laces that came with them, any suggestions?

call the alden store on madison ave in NYC and ask for their flat waxed laces. those should work well.
