  1. in case anyone wanted to see what sz 29, 30" inseam sequent LT looks like on someone who's more like a sz 28, 28" inseam lol

the pant itself is pretty wide-legged and roomy IMO. I think it's to help with airflow and range of motion since it has no stretch content. it is the most acronym looking veilance thing i have lol. i have it fully cinched here in these pics, but im going to try undoing the leg opening adjustor and cuffing it lol. it gives me some space age workwear vibes with the contrasting cuff

i feel like these need some kind of ultralight moisture wicking base layer if youre gonna wear them in the summer cuz in my experience cknit gets gross when exposed to sweat. i wore them the other day in the rain with heattech leggings and it performed really well. swishy as all hell though

I own the Aero Band Collar (https://ministryofsupply.com/collections/mens-shirts/products/aero-band-collar-white) and it's my favorite button down shirt. Really nice feel and the slim M fit was tapered exactly how I wanted. I've worn it several times and it still looks great. I'm interested in their suiting because I have no formal pieces really.

this is exactly the shirt i was looking at. thanks for the positive review

  3. I've been researching it a bit looking for dress shirts and I think they're pretty solid. My brother has one of their techier fabric shirts (doesn't really look traditional if you're in a very conservative work environment) and a relative has their blazer and they looked good. I haven't had a chance to wear anything from them yet, but I'm eyeing their "Aero"/daystarter stuff. And as a heads up for you NYC people -- I went yesterday to the store on Elizabeth St to check it out and it was totally emptied out, must've been a pop up :(. So don't trust google maps

  4. which model? the one w/ the field LT in stone is wearing the new nyco voronoi in ash. guy in monitor SL holding the ash nomin is wearing dyadic comp pant in ash. khaki isogon dude is wearing apparat in isogon. blazer lt in khaki guy is wearing convex LT in khaki.

Field LT looks like the Field Overshirt from last Season. So i guess it’s the same cut but with a different fabric(GTX???)

no it's a typo, i dont think the product page is finalized

Field Overshirt will return but in dark navy instead of mid navy. ash and black return

Field LT is like the regular field shell, but it forgoes that textured/rough face fabric for a soft, smooth 40d face. i think it's regular gore 3L, not c-knit. and the top security flak pockets are angled ever so slightly like the haedn overshirt. and i think the back doesn't have the shooting shoulder articulation (dont remember if the old field shell had it either).

@lesteel those are my 3 favorite frame tee colors lol. nice

No that's Partition LT, cknit version of the partition AR I guess with a removable hood. Similar to galvanic.

then my fav pieces, dyadic comp hoodie, dyadic comp sweater

then sequent LT goretex pant and finally casing wallet.

heres a snap of the monitor SL

@Chiels ICYMI there's a pic of the sample in Ash. it's like a simplified monitor coat. no chest pocket or anything. also, monitor coat w/ goretex pro is still a thing. black and dark navy for ss18. probably wont change for fw18 since it's a year round piece

wait the new voronoi nyco is a cordura brand textile?

sorry no, i don't think so. to clarify, it's 70% cotton, 30% cordura nylon. the lookbook calls it "cotton/cordura twill with DWR"

also the ss18 isogon is now 50/50 cotton/nylon instead of 70/30 cotton/nylon. idk how i feel about that, i kinda liked how cotton-y and organic the isogon felt.

ok apparently the align pant, isogon, and apparat have the 50/50 composition now.

Ahh... thanks. So no exciting news on shirts for 2018?

no new shirts this season unfortunately. i haven't gotten a chance to check out FW18 but im hoping there's a proper dress shirt or something in a lighter color. wasnt too big a fan of the operand LS

I think SS18 is exciting because it's showing a real expansion in the line. By now we have so many more pants options, lots of material options and construction (terratex, updated cordura nyco, cknit, merino/terratex/nylon composite, and then windstopper and wool softshell from FW17 if you count those too). IMO it really helps the "systems"-based approach to outfitting veilance. Lots of great shells/outerwear and midlayers, now bottoms, just hoping for dress shirts and shoes lol

  9. so im guessing the frame SS was revised to have the same back yoke construction as the current frame LS, which would eliminate some of the problems people have mentioned here, like it getting too hot from the double layered merino in the summer, or for me, when layering lots of jackets over it in the winter the seams where the extra fabric intersects can feel bumpy/pointy on my back. too bad haven had some guy with long hair covering the new detailing lol

also i hope it's just haven's retouching but it looks like the blazer LT is a true black, or black II, instead of the bluish black you'd see on the made in canada SS terratex pieces. that's always been a minor gripe for me, the black on my terratex stuff isnt really black lol

hoping we can see the dyadic comp hoody in black. that was one of my favorite samples i saw.

    https://www.grailed.com/drycleanonly/techwear-cyberpunk-orientalism

Yikes, so leslie just released an article skimming the very top of what techwear is, and naming a few of its influences. Comments are harsh. What do you think?

i kind of feel bad because i dont think this piece was properly edited. it could have been a solid read, albeit probably not one that would make sense to post on grailed. it just lacked structure and possibly some fact-checking.

ALSO: i at least +rep leslie for attempting to bring light to this topic of asian fetishism and possible appropriation in the context of techwear.

it could have been something like:

    • this is what techwear was originally supposed to be
    • i argue that it is corrupted because of asian fetishism or whatever compromising the intended utility-driven purpose of the clothes, and as a result has become oversimplified as an aesthetic with probably problematic consequences
    • introduce cyberpunk stuff as large influence and give specific examples of designers and brands who reference iconic cyberpunk/dystopian whatever
    • explain techno-orientalism or whatever
    • demonstrate how popular brands have asian-inspired designs as a result
    • contend with analysis of garments that they can be form over function, cite materials or whatever as not optimally functional/tech
    • provide a landscape of the current state of mainstream techwear, common perceptions, etc
    • explain how increase in demand of 'cheap' techwear/popularity of reps (dont link to them though, that hurts grailed, the platform thats publishing the piece. i think this is the editors mistake) can possibly mean consumers are after the aesthetic and willing to compromise on performance if they can afford to 'look tech'
    • acknowledge the existence of other utility-driven techwear substyles and how the subculture or whatever may stagnate or become corrupted if they are neglected/underdeveloped in favor of the current techninja aesthetic as a result of the aforementioned cyberpunk/techno-orientalism and its detrimental effects
    • drive home the point and connect these dots, maybe offer a topic of further discussion -- what things can be done to challenge this, what would happen to techwear or the brands over time, anything

anyway i think there was nuggets of good ideas here and there just not fully developed. :(

  11. I didn't size down but that's cuz I'm an XS as it is. For me it fits more like a classic blazer cut with blazer ending at the top of my knuckles with my hands at my side, and some of my butt covered (sleeves were a little long but I can fold the cuff in and it hits fine). If you size down you get a more modern fit, with the blazer ending above the wrist. I think if you size down it'll probably pinch at the armpit/chest and limit your layering options. imo sizing down can look really cool but the TTS fit is not bad. here's sidney wearing an XS, but he wears an S in other veilance outerwear

in other news, nomad's boxing day sale is live w/ some FW

  12. I think your use case of an indoor cozy warmth layer will be perfect. I find it similar to the mainline Covert Cardigan which I use for exactly that, just working inside when its kinda cold. You should be good. Even if you do feel a bit warm the cut is kinda generous at the hem so it's not too stuffy, and you can just undo the buttons super quick since they're snap to close.

I tried wearing mine today coincidentally, I find it's probably one of my least favorite purchases for what I want to use it for. It has no hand pockets so I can't wear it when it's too cold, I can't use it with a bag without worry of pilling the wool face, the collar is a bit big for my head lol (compared to the field OS for example), and since it's kinda boxy and structured it's hard to layer under my Indisce blazer/topcoat type stuff unfortunately. It's a shame cuz it looks so good on its own

I am more like an athletic /streetwear guy and I already found myself not wearing my quoin jacket much. I am not sure if I should get a blazer lol

any reason you don't find yourself wearing the quoin jacket much? isn't it like a coach's jacket? seems pretty athletic/streetwear. curious cuz i'm on the fence about it (I love the quoin vest utility wise, thinking a whole polartec alpha shirt could be useful)

  14. fit piiiiics pls also i wonder if because they're made of goretex that they're made in canada? all other pants have moved overseas by now

edit: also can you double cuff the pant or does it look weird with the grey cknit backer?
