Anyone with a proper fit pic of the Field Pant in Peat?  Really need to see how they drape.

not mine, but i saw this on IG and it looks pretty good IMO. he sized up one though (which i'd probably do too)

Holy shit - I’ve been waiting for years for waterproof goretex pants to come. If you have seen any pics - how does the fit/ silhouette look like?

i think the guy on the right is wearing them but icould be wrong.

    here's the stock photo

    arcteryx-veilance-spring-2018-04.jpg.663a6707d9569e7a03ba9c4406ccab59.jpg

it's goretex cknit, zippered pockets, no belt loops but integrated belt, 30" inseam. i dont remember if it has ankle adjustor buttons on the hem or not.

  3. SS18 pant lineup won't have a nyco field pant, but it's still pretty solid/interesting. a goretex cknit pant, terratex/merino/nylon composite sweatpants, a new terratex pant that looks like an indisce mixed with a voronoi sort of, voronois in a new nyco, just to name a few.

anyone know if the apparats will be coming out in peat (olive color) for ss18?  from the previews so far ive only seen black and playa.

i think its just black and khaki, which is less yellow and more desat/grey than playa. peat is usually a FW color.

  5. I use my old one a lot for outfits that don't look as good with a backpack, during the summer when I don't want something on my back overheating me, or when I'm wearing wool stuff I don't want to pill from shoulder straps. The new version has two zippers so you can more easily control where and what direction you open the bag, and it has little notches to pull onto at the ends of the zipper on the bag itself. It's a good revision compared to the first version where you'd have to pinch the fabric itself to have an anchor point to pull from. If I could, I would've gotten the new version but can't justify it with my old beaten up one working fine enough.

Any tips for warm boots? I own a pair of Nike DAF1s and a pair of Red Wing 8174 but today it dropped to -20C and im fucking cold. Could go for some black grizzlys but would be nice with something kinda affordable. Doesnt need to be super tech but i really dont want to settle for some sorels...

    i just ordered these

    http://www.adidasoutdoor.com/terrex-conrax-boa/CCV94.html

they're 50% off to 150 right now, then u can save $20 if u sign up for the newsletter, brings it to $130 shipped.

climaproof membrane, primaloft insulation, boa lacing, boost midsole, stealth rubber outsole. seems decent enough for the price

  7. go back a few pages, we were just talking about it

it's 80gsm coreloft in the body, 60gsm in the sleeve, goretex cknit. so it's wind and waterproof, insulated, but its a cropped jacket without a proper hood or high collar. i wouldnt use it in positive 13F, cant imagine it in the negatives like that, but i'm a baby and run cold. I wear mine for 40-50F.

  8. it looks like last season's nomin, since it still has the briefcase handle. Technically it's probably like V3? cuz theres the 600D original coated ac^2, then the ripstop iteration, then back to a lower denier coated ac^2, and then now the F17 Revised

I just walked home in the pouring rain and have to say that I have renewed faith in my AV gear. I find that DWR on the Arris lasts longer than my other Gore pieces. The Voronois dried quickly and the Nomin kept my laptop and books safe. The only problem I have is find good looking GTX  shoes to wear with my AV pieces, anyone have some recs.

Also, what are people's opinions of the Conduct, might pick one up

    adidas-stan-smith-gore-tex-grey-one-BZ02

gtx stan smith, but they're grey not white so idk

update with nomin v2. i had a full pack with my laptop and walked to a cafe to get some work done and for the most part, there isn't rattle. but i swear i can feel a tiny tap on my back if i walk fast or on uneven terrain for a bit or something. it's a stark contrast to my outlier uhqz which feels really stable. it's a result of the dyneema's stability i think. that might change over time if the tweave stretch laptop insert stretches irreversibly loose.

    re; conduct

I got it but as someone who loves the Arris, i dont really like the conduct as much. The use case to me seems pretty limited and isn't as everyday wearable because of the cut/fit on me. It's really long on the body and sleeves (looks great on my taller friends, but not on me where AV stuff is already long to begin with). It was hard to work it into my wardrobe since it was rarely rainy enough to warrant goretex, but also hot enough to need to be a trim SS shell, and on-off enough to need to pack and repack the shell often where the Arris wouldn't suffice. I like the storage on the Arris a bit better since it's hard to access the interior pocket on the Conduct, and the kangaroo pockets look kinda ugly when full compared to the more low profile side pockets on the Arris. That said, it does provide better coverage especially around the thigh area and sleeves. It's also pretty comfy when it's on since it's roomier. All of this makes me think it's really good for traveling as a just-in-case piece, or if you dont own an AV shell and really like anoraks

  10. Firstly, congrats. chamotte monitor is flames

I asked Lars about the YKK Excella zipper on the Monitor coat vs the coated watertight one on the Monitor Down, and he said the YKK excella is still functionally waterproof from the construction of the jacket/goretex behind it itself. And that the inclusion of the YKK Excella (as well as the fishtail) are more to keep the design rooted in traditional silhouettes, like throwback details, and not necessarily the most 'optimal'.

Anyway, the monitor does completely hold up, it's my main shell for the harshest conditions because of the storm hood, room to layer, and more protection from the added length. I am wearing it a lot now that it's colder actually. And yeah, the Theta AR is gonna be similar.. monitor has awesome pocket placement and capacity though. nobody asked but here's a fit pic of me wearing mine recently lol

  11. i actually like those, the wolf grey, and the black ones. i'm pretty sure these are much lighter than traditional AF1, and if they boast weather resistance and traction on wet or frozen cement then i'm sold. the laces. kinda wish it didnt have those eyelets though

  12. Oh oops I didn’t mean to imply the actual cut/fit of the Anode has been deliberately changed on the Comp, I am speculating it might be different only slightly because it’s a different material. Also for me it would be a size up (28 to 29) and that might alleviate some of the slimness.

as for water resistance you’ll probably want to do a spray for best results, I’ve heard the wash in stuff is harder to control consistently but I’ve not used both to compare.

the reason I mention it’s not as weatherproof is because relative to the indisce it has less nylon content and it isn’t windproof. DWR bonds to nylon stuff better, and the comp has cotton and wool content so those obviously dry slower and stuff. Lastly, I don’t think you’d be sweating in anodes, they don’t seem to run that hot for me

Even though AV styles the Haedn Bomber under the Node Down, I think 1. that would be overkill, warmthwise 2. it would be very hard to move around since both of those are boxy and cropped as it is.

lol, i was so wrong. it dipped to below freezing in nyc with some wind and i didnt want to take any chances so i just went with a Frame LS, Haedn Jacket, Node Down and Anode pants

The Haedn worked well here as a midlayer, but I can't really tell if it's any better than a Graph sweater or even a mainline Arc Covert Cardigan. It definitely wasn't overkill, not at 26F anyway.

The Anode pants I had always written off because they aren't that good for wet conditions and they're a little too slim for my tastes, but maybe the Anode Comp will have a different drape and silhouette given the new fabric and sizing. Anyway, I'm glad you guys are mentioning the Anode because it impressed me. I was wearing cropped jackets and my seat area was still comfortably warm. I worried about wind chill but it's not that bad. In fact, I think the Windstopper Indisces might feel even colder just because of how conductive the fabric is against skin. So now for when it's really cold and still dry, I'll opt for the Anode.

Are those the Japanese TNF pants? If so, tell me more.

Agh the collar pop. I personally can't wear the Haedn stuff as a midlayer. The cuts are restrictive enough on their own and under a shell or coat, they get impossible to move in. I couldn't really work either the OS or jacket into my life and will be selling both. They really only work as individual pieces. All of the lookbooks with the Haedn stuff layered under are viscerally great but constricting and defeat the purpose of AV. It was also difficult to wear the Nomin with either jacket as pilling would be guaranteed. I also ran hot in both.

I will be keeping the Anode Comps. These pants really deserve more attention

yep they're the Accel Light pant, very good pant for the price and my body type imo. Slim, short inseam, almost everything is bonded and the logo is barely visible from a distance. Integrated belt, bonded zip thigh pocket, back pocket, etc. very lightweight with plenty of stretch, DWR works well too http://www.goldwin.co.jp/tnf/ec/pro/disp/2/NB31601

and lol yeah the collar pop I like wearing the indisce 3/4 with the collar up especially when it's colder.

As for the Haedn stuff, I see what you mean. Looking back, the Haedn OS isn't 1:1 exactly the same as the Field OS which I like more. I don't really like how large the collar is on the Haedn OS since I have a small head as it is. I want it to work well as an individual piece, but the lack of lower pockets makes it hard, especially in the winter when I want my hands someplace warm. I actually haven't tried to wear either of these with a pack now that I think about it, I don't think the face fabric would handle straps under heavy load either.

I wish I could wear them more as individual pieces, but it's hard to get the temperatures right for that (I might just be overthinking everything). Even though AV styles the Haedn Bomber under the Node Down, I think 1. that would be overkill, warmthwise 2. it would be very hard to move around since both of those are boxy and cropped as it is. The Haedn fabric is so structured it's pretty thicc unlike the Field OS fabric, and it's definitely boxier fitting than the Graph cardi. Also, idk how I feel about layering two of those stand collars, like a Quoin vest + Haedn Jacket or Graph Cardi + Headn Jacket.

I'll still give them a few more wears to see if I can make the use case 'click' for me. I think they're going to be warmer than I thought they'd be and might be just-right for where I think my 80gsm coreloft is too hot.

nice fits @branespload would like to try something similar with an indisce 3/4 if (i can find one) but suffer the dreaded sleeve length problem if I move up a size to accommodate a something like the os.

tried the haedn overshirt and found the jump between sizes too great, medium is a touch too small and found movement a little constricting, large and i'm swimming in it. trying to loose a few kilos so will revisit the medium again in couple of months. hope to grab the os and pair with my field. the store unfortunately doesn't stock the haedn jacket, does this fit slim or a little more boxy?

The Haedn bomber is definitely more on the boxy side for me, but it might be my body type. It's a shorter cropped jacket with plenty of structure so it'll appear wider. It's definitely cut to accommodate layering underneath, and much slimmer than the Graph cardigan. Here's a fit pic https://i.imgur.com/XG1zqa1.jpg
