I went true to size (32) but could have size down 1 for a slimmer fit.I bought this pair raw, keep in mind that the onewash runs smaller. How did you size those Okinawas? Did you get one size down? I am contemplating getting a pair and would like mine to fit like yours.0 -

I don't know of a thread that basically discusses motorcycle wrecks and their effects on the jeans, but it doesn't really matter. A few months ago I took a spill and dragged for a little bit and I was wearing some 17oz Samurai Jins and they have slight abrasion on the ankle on one side but were pretty much unscathed. My skin underneath was fine, but on my elbow where I was also dragging (and I was wearing a padded motorcycle jacket) there was a lot of blood and scratches into the skin.
Had the same bad experience with my sc okinawa, jeans came much better out than my trusty Vespa:
Did you take pics of your jins?

As for shrinkage, my 2007 pair size 33/36 got an initial soak at about 60°c without any result.Than I took them in nearly cooking water for an hour and dried them at hottest setting.Inseam measures now 35",the waist stretched to 34" in 2 days of wear.Dont know if a proper wash at 90°c will do much difference..

As I own the 201 from 07 I am not familar with the 99 version, but cutwise they should be the same, the 201 is very baggy, mine looks like bellbottoms-not very flattering.I did the mistake and sized up from 32 to 33,but they didnt shrink at all,if you go true to size you cannot be wrong.Just keep in mind that the cut is very loose and roomy.Paul T did a great job comparing the version 02 vs 07 here:

btw Paul,if you read this, the jeans should be in London around Tuesday.
