  1. actually i have, i believe pictures of it have been posted up on the 'ugliest jeans in the world' thread.

but there is a BIG difference with the paint of the Dior Homme jeans, and using spray-paint from spray cans bought from the good ol' hardware store.

go try it yourself, the spray paint is like some super starch, it hardens the material and when you bend the material after the paint dries, it actually cracks. I'm saying this because i have tried the spray-paint on cotton t-shirts and such, before i discovered silk-screening

that is of course, assuming that the dude used spray paint.

On the pic where kawawaka is lying on the longboard, the paint is nearly gone, the fullcounts looks already blue to me.Forthcoming pics will show if the denim will break or not.I remember seeing pics of tahonng in a pair covered in paint from some paintballgun (searched for pics, but no success,if you read this, can you shed some light?).It looked heavy but disappered on later pics.Another pair I remember are some sugarcanes that somebody used for constructionwork and they where absolutely covered in mud, dust and paint...
  2. all the pockets seem to be the same, the only pocket difference i have noticed is that the front ones are shallow. barely fit the iphone in it. i guess in 1917 they did not carry iphones to the mines.

the finish is nice actually the color is a bit less indigo then i was thinking but over all it is not flimsy or dull.

and thug is in regards to the amount of fabric i have hanging down in my crotch. the front rise is over 15 inches and the back rise is almost 20 if i recall. i can do some squats for sure but i will never get a butt that big. lol

Man,thats a lot.Just measured my 1901,w32 true to size.FR is 12,5",BR 16,5", and Iam really happy with the fit.If you cant return, try to sell them..

  3. I would if I could. I don't know how to encolse a picture. Can you help?
Of course, this is what I did: get a account at photobucket, upload the pics in large ( its something like 680 x... ),when you click on the image choose IMG code and just copy and paste.really easy done.
  4. I know what you mean. I own a 63 Jaguar E-type and I like the fantastic line, but for every day use the nose is indeed to long especially during the rush hours. And you'r right, I wouldn't cut the nose off. But the reason is not that I wouldnt do it, but It would be too expencive. I wear my 201 every day for work and it was too roomy for me. The magic word is "individualism". Look at all those old levi jeans that had been found. They had all the individual features of their owner. Cut off Chinch or cut off legs like the knappave 1880's. I bought my 201 via e-bay - too big - and had no chance to send them back. Shouldn't I wear them because they look like from my big brother? Now I wear them every day and they start to get nice fading and they are now my favorite jeans. Is that a mistake? And I would prefer some 30's hotrod instead of a concour Fort Type A
Sounds fair enough.Just courius how they look, would you mind posting pics?
  5. just took pictures of 'em recently and you know that shooting during the evenings do not do justice well based on the blue hues... also, i just wore 'em while camping in bishop recently and it's filled with campfire aroma... gotta love 'em!!!

i'll try to re-take the fit pictures sometimes soon when i have time...

actually, i've never owned a pair of hawaii so i'm not quite an expert on this one... but i can assure that okinawa is one of my favorite jeans of all based on its feel and comfort. this is my 'loose' jeans.

Havent seen such a great faded oki here for a long time! IMO the LHT is way harder to get whiskers, combs and fades,on the other hand they feels so soft and comfy,it pays in the long run.I have to store my pair for a year because of the FC contest, I just hope I will stick them.
  6. I just did the initial cold soak for my LVC 1947s, but I'm wondering how much more they'll shrink with a hot soak? I like the way they fit around my legs, but they're a bit loose in the waist and way too long (seems like I should get all the shrinkage out before I get them hemmed).
Didnt you say that you want them to fit loose? A hot soak will shrink them a little more, but a 60° wash ( dont spin, unless you want crinkles all over the place ) will get nearly all the shrinkage out.
  7. haha, do most jeans after soaked and shrunk keep the same ratio?

i have to admit the 1917s are a pretty wide leg and the rise is very very high.

Shrinkage on LVC is not consistant, they can shrink to tagsize or sometimes do not shrink at all.On my pre-1930 models -1873,1901 and 1920 ,the inseam lost 1-1,5",the waist stayed as tagged.

  9. Before this thread gets derailed too much about a 2010 contest, its probably need a new thread as somebody stated before,it could be use as a "brainstormingthread", collecting ideas, wishes, opinions and so on.I dont think its too early, the other contests so far took roughly a year to happen.I would be happy to jump in a fresh pair ( of Ooes :D ) after this one ended.

  10. Almost nice, know what u mean about the 1873.. with my 1896, I plan to wear them in the summer only, with sandals, and wash them in around four years. It's working so far with my 1901s...[/quote

IMO a 4 pocketjeans looks a lot better when its well worn, faded and repaired. Its the missing backpocket that looks strange to me on a raw pair, but maybe I spend too much time in front of a mirror... I also use my 1901 for summer, but they got one more backpocket and I sized them right.

  11. Nice,Cotton, havent seen so much details on the 1880 before.I just wonder why they are so roughly made, given that 1873 is older and finished cleaner.Would really love to pull a 4 pocket jean off,but somehow it looks awkward when I wear my 1873.I think they would look much better if they are really worn and abused, but I just cannot mind spending 2 years in a pair where I dont feel comfortable in..

  12. I agree, i got them a really long time ago. I figured some of you guys might be interested in the 1873 jean and how it was made
nearly all LVC models are covered already here, there is a thread of the different models, updadeted by Paul T regulary.I know, this thread here is huge, but if you are into LVC you should browse some pages from the beginning. If you dont mind I would like to see some fitpics,as I own a 1873 myself ( bought a size to large, stupid me ).
  13. As much as I like the 1873 model,as much I dont like that wash, too light and artificial...

jstavris,if the raw 47 fits already tight in the waist you should start with a 30 minutes cold soak, thats what I did with my 47 W 32.if they fit loose its all ok and you can give them a hot soak.Good think about raw denim is that you can control the shrinkage.

  14. Almostnice, I'm thinking a momotaro contest with their 15.7oz regular cut. I've wanted those for awhile anyway.

I wouldnt mind taking a momotaro to the test.Denim Phenom,do you mean this one http://blueingreensoho.com/site/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=shop.flypage&product_id=4801&category_id=&manufacturer_id=42&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=28

    Would also love a Ooe-Yofukuten 1301XX,(47-55cut,unsanforized).Anymore ideas/options for a contest?

  15. Nice pair,Blackbeard.Get the zipper replaced, they deserve lots mor abuse!

BeautifulFreak, dont worry about the waist,it always stretches, and to jstavris:

this is how a 47 tagged W34 fits on me:

    http://P1020967.jpg

    P1020969.jpg

They measured 33 raw. After several washes at 60°C they are a tad over 33 now.Btw,I usually buy a 32 in most jeans,so if you want a similar fit the 34 is your size.

  16. I bit the bullet and decided on ordering a size 34x38 pair of the 1947s. I sized up two to compensate for shrinkage and a slightly looser fit and sized up in length to again, compensate for shrinkage. I can get them hemmed so I'd rather they were too long.

Did I make the right choice?

If they are undersized youll be fine, but there are some pairs that are tagged size out there.ask the seller to measure the waist before hes sending them out.
