  1. Man forget Tavern on the Green. Banquet hall food for tourists and 80 year old couples. The room is the ony nice thing about it.

Blue Hill is pretty nice. I also like Cru if you are into wine. Does vegetarian rule out sushi?

  2. I once spoke with Kevin Sorbo on the phone and he actually introduced himself as "Kevin Sorbo, you know, Hercules on TV"......it was pretty sad. I worked in a branch of Nike that gave away shit to celebs (free advertising basically) and my boss kept ignoring his phone calls because he's not famous anymore. Dude tried everyday to get some free shoes............

Guess his much more current role in Andromeda doesn't have much juice. Low tier celebs constantly hounding for hand outs disgusting me, especially since the money they made while famous could have easily lasted into decent wealth if they weren't idiots with it.

  3. I'm going to the hideo kojima signing at uniqlo, anyone else nerding out

Went to the Kojima signing last night at Virgin. Wanted a UT shirt but I heard they're going to be sold out by noon and I gotta work. :(

  4. ^^was that one of Zangief's patented moves? I recall the triple spinning pile driver, but I don't recall that one.

It was called spinning clothline in original SF2. I think you had to tap the punch button like Blanka's electric shock. It avoided fireballs but was a shitty move because you were still vulnerable from above and couldn't even spam chip dmg. I think they took it out after SF2 Turbo?

  5. from what i've heard Warren Ellis is an awesome writer. have you read any of his other stuff?

He is an awesome writer....if you like his style, and I mean REALLY like it, because it is in your face all the time and does not fucking change. Planetary is probably in my top 3 series of the last decade and I also really liked Transmet and what he started with Stormwatch/The Authority. Nextwave was also awesome.

The problem is that all he writes now are anti-authority snarky bastards so almost all his characters have the same voice. A lot of his lesser work like Ocean, Down, Tokyo Storm Warning, Black Gas, Wolfskin, Black Summer all have interesting concepts but the writing becomes really stale.

  6. it's only 12 seats and everyone besides me and my friend was asian :D

Asians girls = food hypebeasts and Ko is like the restaurant version of Supreme. I wanna go but all the ppl I would want to go with are too broke for dinner + wine pairing.

I really liked Ssam but his ramen was pretty terrible to anyone who has had real ramen.

  7. I just recently got a torrent of Hellboy shit, in it was included Hellboy Trades, Hellboy JR, BPRD, Crossovers, Makoma, The Darkhorse book of Hauntints, Third Wish- The Island, Various One Shots, and Weird Tales. I'm not really sure where to start, is there any way someone could give me a timeline for these?

As for the Batman comics, I have the "25 Greatest Batman Comics" and also don't know where to start with these. Obviously Year One should be read first, but are there any that should definitely be read before the others in terms of timeline and story? I know a few of those are Elseworlds so they can be read whenever, but I'm nervous to dive right in and just start wherever.

Hellboy timeline doesn't matter much once after the first two trades once all the major players get introduced. I think it goes Right Hand of Doom > Wake the Devil and after that you can read in whatever order you want. BPRD has almost no Hellboy in it and Crossovers and one shots are pretty cool.

That Batman list is wack. Red Rain and The Cult are some of the worst Batman books ever. Although I haven't read at least six of them and I'm not sure if they are still in print.

  8. why the fuck do people think cramer is god? dude is terrible at picks

Ppl are just into Cramer because of his visibility. He's entertaining and talks a good yarn on TV so he gets good ratings. I think his effect is generally positive just in the fact that he gets people interested in stocks and investing.

Kinda like Emeril. Not the best chef by a long shot but he gets ppl interested in cooking.

  9. djrajio is this really the way you traders act

    it is dirtY

YES. I'm sure it's not all traders but firms and hedge funds with a lot of BP will push markets in their favor if they are able. I think Cramer stated in some article that back in the day he'd use a couple of mil and push stocks around pre-market when liquidity is low to get his options in the money.

What I really hate is rampant rumor mongering. Jackasses will spread ridiculous shit like Mittal is buying US Steel or Chinese firms want to buy BSC when the stock is collapsing to create panic short squeezes or to unload shares at a higher price. I remember losing money short Bidu when their CFO died in a car accident and someone falsely stated that it was an intentional work-related suicide.

On another note price of crude is in a $6 range today wtffffff. Shit is not supposed to swing around like this.

  10. Last time I was back was about a year and a half ago but the shopping in Beijing is just not worth it. Casual income among the younger set is just not there yet so all the "good" stores are still pretty much catering to conservative older businessmen and their much younger accessory-loving fuckgirls. The big European flagships are great but why pay the Chinese markup?

I walked around the electronic markets a bit. Pretty cool but no great bargains to be had on newer stuff plus if you don't speak Chinese it will be a huge hassle to buy. If you're foreign you're going to be swamped by scammers and vendors that it takes the joy out of shopping.

Honestly if you are in Beijing forget buying for a second and soak up the atmosphere of China's most historical city that is on its last breaths of still having any relevance with the past. Walk around, see the sites, eat some street food. The people watching and the atmosphere should be amazing this summer. I'll be back for about 3 weeks for the Olympics and I can't wait.

  11. Fuck the entire population of the jersey shore. Fuck them. Went to seaside for the first time in like 6 years and I guess it must have been prom season or some shit. I was so disgusted I did not even think about fucking underage high school sluts. Guido wannabes throwing gang signs at each other from their daddy's Lexus hybrids, tribal tattoos everywhere, cornrows on the whitest of the white.

Firebomb the entire shoreline. And nothing of value of was lost.

  12. Just got back from it. 7/10 for a summer action flick, 4/10 for an Indiana Jones movie. One thing that bugged me was that the original trilogy had tons of wide, majestic outdoor location shots that made the world seem beautiful, mysterious, and steeped in history and mystery whereas Crystal Skull seemed all soundstage + CGI. Just didn't bring the magic.

It sounds weird but I felt like Shia Labouf was the only newcomer pulling his weight in this movie? John Hurt and Kate Blanchett seemed incrediblely wasted and might as well have been wearing wookie suits for all the acting that was required of them. Seriously Blanchett's character had to have been the shittest, most non-threatening villian in an Indiana Jones film ever. She felt like the female assassin in a 007 movie who dies 20 minutes into the movie after Bond fucks her so they can show the real villian.

  13. The site where I basically spend 5 out of 7 hours at work reading manga just got blocked from my office.

Now I lose money in the market and can't even read new shonen jump to console myself.

  14. high crude is going to kill everything~

Agreed. Watching oil futures all day is painful. Shit hits new all time highs every other fucking day. Looks like it will break 130 this week. Back when oil was 50-80 you could scalp refiners like drillers off spikes in crude price but now you can't even do that.

  15. When I first got into comics/graphic novels I thought Frank Miller was awesome, now I just find is writing really aggravating.

This is exactly how I feel. I feel like Frank Miller grew to hate the work and genre that he was famous for, and now he just writes over the top parodies of his early shit to spite fanboys. I don't think anyone has liked anything the guy has written since Dark Knight Strikes Back.

Also, considering Miller considers himself a kindred spirit with Eisner and maybe even his protege (Miller published a whole book of his conversations with Eisner), the movie version seems awfully contrived and untrue to the original The Spirit.

I really thought Grant Morrison would make me want to read Final Crisis but I don't give a shit about it at all. I'm really interested in secret invasion and the return from exile of Nick Fury though.
