  1. Nomads are just 2.5L/3L Gore-tex shells, they'll keep you dry but not warm. You'll want an "insulator" underneath or at the very least a couple of layers underneath i.e. a woollen/fleece top and a thin thermal layer.

  2. How did you size the gloves? I have pretty large hands that are thin and long... thinking to grab a size large, but I'm unsure if Nike are generally generous with their glove sizing.

A subdued season, I've only purchased two sets of short shorts and s/s tees for the lady and myself. Just need the gloves and I'm done for this year.

Regarding purchasing size smalls, they surprisingly sell out fast from the majority of Western based stockists, probably because those shops only get one of each style in that size, as they're too small for the "Western man". I've had more luck with proxying direct from the Nike store in HK. They tend not to sell out too fast in smaller sizes and are generally cheaper than the US and Europe even when factoring in international shipping.

  3. where can i buy gareth pugh's items in taiwan???

You could try Tuan Tuan at the Eslite Bookstore/shopping mall at City Hall, I know they do Rick Owens, CDG etc.

I have to say Da'an district has improved considerably since I was last there 8 months ago. There's now an official Yoshida Porter store and a couple of new Nike stockists in the area, but still no Gyakusou.

Invincible and The Complete Studio still lacklustre as ever and carrying 2-3 old season stock.

On a food note, went to å¸¸å¤œç‡ˆ this evening and had their tasting menu, it was priced very reasonably at 1500NTD. Highly recommend it, they have two sittings, 6-6:30pm and 8-8:30pm. Great for a date night and definitely book a spot at the chef's table.

  4. I often use my No. 4 scent, grass, as a cologne. It's a nice spring/refreshing smell.

For what it's worth, Hiroki told me that they label it as "roomspray" to get past export/regulation problems.

  5. stinky people on packed metros/trams. today was the worst i've ever experienced. dudes smelling like hot garbage on a cold day.

    Welcome to Paris.

Mind you, the London Underground isn't much of an improvement.

  7. 9 course tasting menu (17 dishes in total) at Viajante. Had a similar vibe to Noma, even down to the dinnerware. Has a nice relaxed atmosphere to the place, part of the dining area faces towards the open kitchen so you can see all the preparation, cooking and plating - an added bonus in my books.

  8. All the prices you see in shops include VAT (VAT is 20%), that's the price you pay, no hidden surprises.. It's not like America where they add on state tax when you get to the checkout.

Kids clothes are exempt from VAT, but again the price on the ticket is the price you pay anyway...

  9. Not that you need reassurance from a random off the internet, but I feel you did the right thing. Two wrongs don't make a right etc. and karma will work its way around sooner or later.

Presuming you've handed over all the information you have to the police? Leave it with them, if they bother to pursue it, then that's an added bonus, if not...

  10. I'm looking to pull the trigger on a Bagjack NXL. However, I'm wondering if anybody has successful ordered from the Bagjac website and shipped to the USA, and what kind of customs fees they've encountered?

I purchased some tech stuff from Firmament/theglade berlin last year and got hit hard by a 20% levy via DHL that makes me leery of buying anything of German origin.

Not looking to circumevent taxes, but just want to know what I should reasonably expect. I've emailed them several times but no reply.

Sales Tax *(Tax, VAT, IVA, MwSt, Moms):

19% German sales tax will be deducted for shipments to countries outside of the EU

So if you were charged 20% import fes upon receipt, it pretty much balances it out. Anyway if you're looking to find out how much duty and VAT you're going to pay on an item, this website is quite accurate from past experiences:

  11. Aside from my recommendations in my previous post, there's also Borough Market you could check out. Beigel Bake is worth a pop in especially if you're in the area, cheap and open 24 hours.

Gelupo is also a great place for gelato in the Soho area, Bocca di Lupo is just opposite if you fancy tapas.

As for shopping, you could also check out http://www.ln-cc.com/ but you need to book an appointment,

  12. newsgroups is where its at now

Yup. But one that is hosted/run/offices based in the Netherlands.

US based ones like Astraweb and Giganews gets DMCA'ed quicker than you can say "arrr I'm a pirate".
