  1. Compare pic....length of my S5000VX - on top - washed 3 times - and the SO500XX raw and unsoaked....that's how much the'll shrink...

Is that S5000VX slimmer than SO500XX? I remember reading that 500XX taper 2" from the knee?

    That's some shrinkage...

  2. braidkid, I don't know about samurai's but one hot (like 60ºC) wash in the machine will do wonders. You don't need to use any detergents ofcourse... I've done this to all my raw-unsanforized jeans and no matter how much those have shrinked by soaking they always shrinked more in the machine.

  3. Does anyone know if the shipping costs are included, by the way?

I don't want to bother Shinichi with such trivial questions since he is hospitalized. He needs his rest.

Edit: batorizer, are those one-wash or raw?

Shipping is quite cheap and fast.

I need that WS-02D indigo denim shirt... When did I became such a materialist :?

  4. I sized down in my 8130's from a 10.5 sneaker size to a 9D boot. I really recommend you find a red wing store and try them on first. Finding the right size and the right width will make all the difference on a boot that you want to be able to wear for the next five years.

I found a distinct comfort difference between the 9E's and the 9D's...only one width size apart, but all the difference in the world in terms of fit!

Yeah, I've noticed that in everything else but sneakers the sizing is a pain in the ass if you can't try them on. I ordered Tricker's boots and went to pediatric store to take measurements of me feet and then sent them to Tricker's store. The shoes I got (they were size 9.5UK I normally wear size 10.5US) were made to Shaquille O'neal... I instantly send them back and asked two sizes smaller. Now they're ok, but could be half a size smaller still... I was just too anxious to send them back again and try the smaller ones... :P

  5. lol, yeah it is sort of a trend. at least for me though, it feels safer to get a pair once more people have the jeans and you can see how they fit different body shapes etc... this is the first piece of clothing I've ordered online so I was stressing that they wouldn't fit right, it helps to have all you other cats posting pics and advice on how they fit ;)

sorta like a denim support group.... (oh man I'm such a dork...)

Hehehee, nonono, I think you're right. If we were sitting in a ring many people here should step up and say "My name is _______________ and I'm an addict...".

  6. I have no doubt that two monts of archaeology in a dry rocky climate will do that to a pair of indy's. The guys job was probably more like those laborers you see carrying baskets of rocks in the IJ movies than of Indy himself.

Maybe I need a regular pair of Indy's? If I just pick up one pair of boots per year I think I have the next decade filled with ideas.

Hehe, if you go to those Indiana Jones fansites you see lots of badly molested Aldens there. Wannabee Indys are sandpapering them to get the right look :)

  7. They're a lot tighter than I expected (I'm glad I didn't get the 28s).

It took me like 15 mins to get the buttons done up 'cause, like Mr CO said way back, the holes for the buttons are pretty small. I was getting woried I wouldn't be able to fit them, but after some struggling I got them done up.

I've got this problem whenever I try jeans with a low rise, the leg or thigh or whatever will be real tight but the waist will still be loose. Same deal here, waist is a little loose (moreso at the back than the front, which is pretty tight) while the crotch and thighs are mad tight.

    Niiiiice!

Waist doesn't seem loose to me, the upper button is unbuttoned? :)

  8. Thanks everyone. I don't believe they make this exact model anymore, although as snugglepony pointed out, the arkansas is pretty close.

When I bought these, a friend of mine looked at them and said to me that the Vibram soles on these would last me forever. (They have that trademark yellow octogon-ish emblem). I didn't think much of it, but now I see what he was talking about. They still have almost all of the tread (never been resoled). Most of the wear on the sole you can see at the top edge that is now rounded off. It was initially fairly squared like the inside edges.

Nice boots. Those Vibram soles are really thick, almost an inch or so!

  9. i think when i say pimp daddy i am using it more to refer to spending a few weeks pay more than anything else..

Yeah, I understand. On the otherhand, how many sneakers do you have or have had during past five years? How many of them you go through in one year? I thought about it and all of a sudden buying $400 shoes (that might well see you out) didn't feel so bad at all. Or stay two nights home instead of partying and thats it... :D
